One for Dace
Quote:
From the 27/06/06 to 06/08/06 i will be travelling around the world.
I will be visiting Japan, Australia, NZ, Chile and Argentina.
I will be back in London by 06/08/06.
My passport expires 17/05/07.
Will this be sufficient for entry into all of these countries or will i need longer remaining on my passport?
Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
|
That's what i just sent to the enquiries section of the UK passport service website.
Does anyone know the answer to my query?
Ta in advance.

Re: One for Dace
If your passport expires in May next year and you'll be back in the country by August this year, why would you need any longer on your passport?

Some countries won't let you in without a period (usually six months) left on your passport.

Re: One for Dace
Yea, that's my main concern.
Just making sure none of those countries require any longer than 6 months.

At least if you worked in Tesco we could ask the price of grapes or something.

Re: One for Dace
Oh, Dace, I have another question. I`m not visiting anywhere at the mo, but my passport runs out in September. When do you think I should renew? Now or nearer the time?

Last week was our busiest week of the year (i think) and we're currently at a 6 day turnaround (at least in the Glasgow office we are) so we're reasonably busy (but not overly so as we're allowed a 10 day turnaround time). The work however is still flying back out the door so it's really down to you when you apply. Just apply now and you'll get the extra months from your old passport added onto your new passport (you can "carry over" 9 months).

Re: One for Dace
I was told by the passport homies to phone up the embassies, I had 2 weeks left on my passport so phoned up the czech embassy in London to see if it was possible for me to gain entry and they said thats kosher. I also travelled around europe with less than 6 months less on my passport. From memory the only country who gets arsey is the USA.

Re: One for Dace
I was told by the passport homies to not bother phoning Rankin as he knows nothing about passports.

Re: One for Dace
Isn't there anything relevant on the Foreign & Commonwealth Office website under their "travel advice" section? If I remember correctly it has links to all the relevant embassies.

Thank you for your enquiry.
The length of validity required varies from country to country, even within the EU. The United Kingdom Passport Service is not kept informed of the individual requirements for any foreign country.
You will need to contact the embassy of the country of destination, within the United Kingdom.
Thank you.

Seems like A2 was right and i can't blame Dace for being shite at his job
