Glad you're 'in the know' since I can see 59 in Apprime's tag right now, 15 in Asc's tag and no Imperia tag. Where do I sign up for being in the know?

Our new tactic is to late sign up en masse. If we don't exist we can't be hurt.

Indeed, and one would think an alliance not aiming for #1 would wanna aim for long-term instead.

Despite Zhil being in charge, the tag [InAComa] was rejected.

After 120 ticks and the size of alliances are now known, i'd alter my prediction slightly (considering Imperia and Asc arnt playing).
#1 Apprime
#2 ND
#3 CT
#4 ODDR
#5 Rock
Still going to stick with my original top3 prediction

Hard to say how we will finish but ROCK is still aiming at top 10 and it would be nice to make the top 5 or 6. We haven't been top 5 in a lot of rounds. I know they ended #5 when I first joined. Maybe that's why they went downhill (hope I'm kidding). Too many top alliances out there to predict anything this early.
|
I still firmly believe the downfall of Rock (from r28+) which ultimatly led to them disbanding was due to HellKicker HC'ing and trying to play politics with the top alliance's while in a training alliance. Dont make the same mistake again, while Rock has the potential to finish 2nd this round if things swing there way.. Dont get carried away, the worst thing you can do is to start to bleed members through crappy politics.

Rock hasn't been a training alliance in a long time. And it's perfectly possible (in fact it should be encouraged) for lower tier alliances to get involved in politics.
Well done though for stating the obvious that crappy play (crappy decision making) leads to bad performances and members leaving.

Then if they're not a training alliance.. they're an incredibly shit alliance. I mean, aiming for top6 when you're ranked 3 and your main rivals in rank are ODDR and CT? lol.
Plus, didnt they merge with thehorde? another training alliance?
but hey stupid me for thinking that an alliance which puts in there recruitment thread that they're willing to take on new players and train them up. Infact, they put that what they can offer is training. So, silly me for presuming they're a training alliance.

My point was, that its always crappy for lower-tiered alliances to get involved in top tier politics, as the reward is nothing and the risk is pwnage if they decide to target you.

what is your definition of a "lower tiered alliance"? I personally think that just because an alliance is not a full tag, or not competing for a top 3 spot, it doesn't mean they are any less valuable in the event of a war or that they can't play their role in politics in general. Good HC's wont take their alliance into a war without having consideration for the ill effects, or the potential long term benefits of their block winning, that may come their way....in the words of Edmund Burke :
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

Round 31 was a pretty bizarre round considering there was only 2 competiting alliances, Asc (a well established and strong alliance) and xVx (a training alliance with a influx of decent members but still with half a core of casuals).
You've then got the situation where xVx had won the round if they wanted to. All they had to do was keep the alliance with the BG's and the round was theres without any effort. At the end though, the HC decided to switch to Asc's side and race for #1 while killing the BGs.
xVx isnt the same situation as Rock is in now. Its a competitive round for them with rank #2-#5 realistically up for grabs. Now, if they was a training alliance.. finished rank 6 is fine, as rank isnt the priority at all. However, if they're not a training alliance.. then aiming for rank #6 is just shitty.

I'd say that a lower tiered alliance is one that has a large portion of its players classed as casual. Obviously, there have been some decent alliances which arnt fulltag like DLR and Vgn which have been useful in times of war.
However, If your alliance is casual (lower tiered).. it doesnt make much sense to engage in war and risk losing all the morale in your alliance.

Re: rd 40 predictions... go go go
Rock is a training ally just to clear that up we taking in players who never played pa before 1 hasn't even grasped you need thousands of ships with xan not hundreds but hey its a learning curve we simply making sure the merge survives the round these new guys learn the game under good tutors who have played the game alongtime if we get higher then expected we will be happy we not going for 1st but we also not gunna sit back either we just focusing on showing players how to play for now

Re: rd 40 predictions... go go go
Any alliance can take in a few new players and train them. A training alliance is what Rock used to be, or alliances like F-Crew were, with a massive concentration on training. Rock is most definitely not a training alliance (edit: obviously they used to be, but this isn't what defines them any more).
The comparison with xVx is quite funny, and yet you (Light) have made zero points on how this is any different. Both alliances had a core of casual players. xVx had an influx of hardcore skilled players, Rock has had an influx of more casual players. If anything, xVx were in the better situation. Rock's aims for the round are completely sensible.

If, as a lower tier alliance, you get targeted by those in the run for #1, then you've played crappy politics. Don't be shit.
(Explanation: If an alliance wins early, once they've removed all threat of other #1 contenders, they'll go anywhere for roids; lower tier alliances will get targeted. If you don't act to prevent this early win, that's just as bad as making bad actions. If you help out an alliance that's untrustworthy and unlikely to hold up an agreement, that's a bad action. If there's no one trustworthy that you can help to win (or even if there is), you move around and keep the war balanced to avoid the early win. If your alliance alone doesn't have enough force to make the desired effect, you talk to other alliances in similar positions to you and get them thinking along the same lines as you. It's called survival instincts. This is straight up common ****ing sense on how to play good politics as a mid tier alliance.)

It has been VGN's goal to have at least somewhat of an impact on the ongoing war ever since it became clear that we became too weak/casual to have a try for #1. As for i am concerned VGN never stepped away of a fight against our traditional foe's (ND/CT) or whichever ally was on top at that moment(r38 NFI). Unfortunately VGN's forces have become too scattered and inactive to ever do this again...

Yes.
It's mutch better to wait it out, then see if the once that win's the war, let it be the awsomeness that's Cain, or the Angry bird that some times can fly.
Surely they won't turn for roids once the war is won.
That would be wrong to asume!
For the Actuall prediction.

Always found war to be good for ODDR moral, A were in this together kind of thing, we'll get ****ed on some days, other days we'll do the ****ing.
If you play good politics, a lower tier alliance can do well each round, while even being hit by any top 5 alliance now and then cause you joined a war.

Re: rd 40 predictions... go go go
If you're small. a war can keep you occupied, help you learn so you get better and can give you a free hit as a bonus because the bigger alliance has bigger fish to worry about than you if you're smart.
