Re: I'd prefer it to be Bush
indeed we can, and many people i suspect view this as little more then that
combined with bush leading the enquiry which will investigate himself among other things. hmmm yes. "justice" will be done alright
although, does anyone have a link of an article with him and bush standing together with bush praising him not a few days after the disaster?
given his recent scapegoatism that would be rather amusing

Re: I'd prefer it to be Bush
I got this in an email:
This test has one question but it's a very important one. By giving an
honest answer you will discover where you stand morally.
The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation in which
you will have to make an important decision.
Remember that your answer needs to be honest, yet spontaneous.
Please scroll down slowly and give due consideration to each line.
You are in Florida, Miami to be specific. There is chaos all around you
caused by a hurricane with severe flooding. This is a flood of biblical
proportions.
You are a photojournalist working for a major newspaper and you're
caught in the middle of this epic disaster. The situation is nearly
hopeless and you're trying to shoot career-making photos. There are
houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing under the
water. Nature is unleashing all of it's destructive fury.
Suddenly you see a man floundering in the water. He is fighting for his
life, trying not to be taken down with the debris. You move closer and
somehow the man looks familiar. You suddenly realize who it is. It's
George W. Bush! At the same time you notice that the raging waters are
about to pull him under.
You have two options - you can save the life of G.W. Bush or you can
shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize winning photo, documenting the death of
one of the world's most powerful men.
So here's the question and please give an honest answer...
Would you select high contrast color film or would you go with the
classic simplicity of black and white?

Colour.
Black and white tends to glorify the subject, and you dont want that with bush.

only an idiot could call this thread a 'joke'.
criticism? yes. a sense of over whelming despair? yes. a bitterness towards the cause of that despair? yes.
a joke?
The Bush administration is the joke and it's a sick joke at that.
(thanks for the neg rep though. to prevent this sort of misunderstanding happening in future Koen always get a parent or gaurdian to read the forums with you)

And shooting it in colour will later give you the option of changing it to black and white if you so desire.

Re: I'd prefer it to be Bush
what did you expect? that bush resigns himself? i dont think so.
it was that FEMA-guys job to handle a situation like this and he ****ed it up. sure, Bush appointed him in the first place (btw, before he got that job he was the president of the arabian race horse accosiation or something like that), but still, i doubt any politician would take the political responsibility for this disaster if he can avoid it, even if he did a horrible job.

He could have signed on the wrong line in the resignation papers.

A lot of the positions of authority are filled because they're friends of friends, and this is an example. I think the person before him was also similarly not capable. It's generally better to promote from within the organisation, as at least they have experience.
However, the UK politicians do similar things - most float around and are moved from post to post.

That's not even a joke, you could seriously imagine it happening.
"Er, Sir...?"
"Yes?"
"Those papers you signed? You just resigned as head of the FEMA."
"I didn't even know I was head of the FEMA!"
....
etc

I think Brown was toast as soon as the revelations came out that he'd padded his resume. Some of his statements didn't help either. I don't expect a political appointee to actually know anything but at least he shouldn't undermine his agency with stupid comments.

Europeans commenting on a city they have never been to, halfway around the world, with a comprehensive knowledge of the situation comparable to that of a pencil.
Well done lads, well done.

Do you actually know who is investigating the response to the hurricane?

Bush's PR reps, so they can work out how to make him look innocent. They're probably going to do this by making him look clueless (as always).

Re: I'd prefer it to be Bush
Not to sound horribly trite but houses are irrelevant. It's the people inside that make them homes.
PS Obviously nice houses are better but once you reach a minimum level of comfort, which I'm pretty sure everyone on this forum has (otherwise how the **** can you afford a computer?), it's the people that are far more important.

Computers are cheap, houses are not.
But it depends what you mean by minimum level of comfort. I am certainly aware of homes which are technically classified as unfit or non-decent under UK law but where the occupants possess a computer.

Four walls, a roof, some space, central heating, cooking facilities, toilet facilities, a bed. Probably some other things as well but it's rather missing my point that most likely everyone on this forum is moderately well off.
