Iraq - what do you WANT to happen?
I've never really mixed myself into any of the discussion about iraq going on on this board (apart from occasionally posting in a thread), I'm just curious what other people want to happen in Iraq.
Personally I have a bit of a politically incorrect wish. I'd like to see the Americans get a good beating by the Muslims that have gathered in Iraq. I've seen several interviews with pro-war people, and seen quite a few opinions from Americans on the net, stating that the US will walz right over Iraq. Also the fact that the US claims that it doesn't need the rest of the world to take on Iraq is reason enough to give them a hard time there. Just to prove that the "mightiest" country in the world can be held back by a "second rate" army.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want anyone to die, I just want the socalled infallible America to fail. I feel that the shown arrogance should be destroyed (lacking better wording (it's been a long day 'n all)).
What do you hope will happen in Iraq? Do you have opinions that wouldn't fit into a serious discussion about Iraq?

I'd quite like them to go in there with a blitz of munitions, rout any forces out, completely disarm and pacify iraq, eject saddam and then install a governing council pending a time when democratic elections can take place.
Oh, and hope that * of the french contracts get reneged on.
[i hope you all realise the reason why France would not sanction any action is because they have had, since the end of the gulf war, a STACK of contracts that are just waiting for sanctions to be lifted. In one way, the war is a good thing, as it lets us put one over those inbred french muppets]

It seems that all possible endings will be worse for the world.
If America loses, global anarchy.
If Saddam backs down, it's good for Bush, and we'll have another four years of **** economy and alienation of allies.
If America wins but loses a lot of people, lots of people are dead.
If America wins but loses almost no one, Bush gets another four years
I hope that Saddam and sons all suddenly die of AIDS. That might work.

What i want to happen is simple, crack SAS/Marine Troops go into iraq, best sharpshooters around, best gunners in the world
The go in by chinnuck into iraq into baghdad, US and British planes taking out the SAM sites beforehand under cover of darkness, and stealth against radar
They will land on top of the palace with helicopter gunships surronding them giving support
Once inside the palace they sweep it, killing everyone inside it
British/American Troops go in only shooting people being hostile to them and for the meanwhile keep the peace
a intern government is established
local democratic elections seen over by UN take place in iraq, from candidates willing to not be assholes and be a little nicer
Government is a Democratic Power Sharing Republic
Job Done, Next Week NORTH KOREA!
That is the best situation we can expect really

I hope for some good footage on CNN.
And that Canada, Cuba and Mexico are next.
And then South America and Africa.
And then Europe, Asia, and Australia.
And then I win the super-lotto and become President-for-life.

Saddam Hussein to turn up at the White House clutching several nuclear warheads, and a Junior First Chemistry Set to apologise and say he has disarmed.
Then he and George Bush strip naked and wrestle on the White House lawn to see who wins the war.

i want the war to go very well. i hope we REAP the benefits, steal the oil, give contracts to US/UK companies and leave the French out. then with the confidence from the Gulf War II we can invade France and ship the Eiffel Tower to London.

Civilisation collapses so I can build a better one with a roll of sticky tape, four intellectuals and some quick mixing cement.

I want to see Saddam hussein and his sons accepting the exile, just to see how the americans would react since they wouldn't be able to get the oil now as they would have no justification.
would be hilarious =\

I'll miss the obvious "This inspires global socialist revolt" type fantasies.
What will be amusing is when the US administration realises that once they've gone into Iraq, destroyed the civil society and most of the country and deposed the evil Mr Hussein that the world is just as, if not more dangerous.
Of course, the American's getting a bloody nose (which won't happen) would be amusing. It'd prompt less "We are going to take on the rest of the world" type fantasies, and then we can concentrate on writing dull treatises on how China will rule the world soon.

I think Bush and Blair should back down, tighten the sanctions, and send Hans Blix back in to continue disarmament for the next 180 years resulting in the deaths of more Iraqi children over time than currenlty live in the country now. Wouldn't that be cool. It would also make the French and Germans happy.

Actually I was going to pour the cement on the intellectuals after binding them together with the sticky tape and then bring people along to view them under the tag-line of "we may now be living in caves but look what we escaped from!" It should form the basis for a far more stable culture than any so far.

A conflict spanning the entire of the middle east, preferably dragging in Pakistan and India for some cool TV viewing for the next couple of years.

I Would Like to See the Following...
1. Saddam Hussein leave Iraq in the next 26 hours or so.
2. The US honor its agreement and enter Iraq in search of weapons of mass destruction, find that stuff, and remove it to the Johnson Atoll for proper destruction.
3. The Iraqi people to live without fear of death for wanting to be free and to enjoy what the world has to offer them.
4. For BOTH armies to have minimal losses during the whole thing.

I hope Saddam&co leaves Iraq (Whatever happens to them doesn't much matter), that the US declares it won't (immediately) go to war, that Iraq then falls into chaos and civil war, and that french and russian troops, helped by the turks, enter Iraq to restore order.

I agree, Bush is an honest, good and patient leader, having taken the UN route he had no qualms about getting out when the French unreasonably blocked US/UK efforts to reach a diplomatic solution.

Some kind of stick fighting duel between Saddam and Bush that ends up with them both getting killed.
Iraq and the US then both become free democratic countries, the US gets rid of all its guns and Iraqis get food and medicine. Also the capitalist american corporations see the error of thier ways and share there wealth and stop persuing money at the expense of others, the third world turns into the first (somehow) and we all join hands and sing.

A second resolution would have asked for unconditional surrender as one of the last options, it was easily possible for Saddam to avoid war but the French were unwilling to back non compliance with the threat of military action, which I might add is the only reason that Saddam gave us the small concessions that he did give.

Bush never let any doubt in the fact that he will invade iraq no matter what. THAT is a reason saddam didnt cooperate. why should he destroy parts of his military if he is attacked anyway? he can aswell shoot these rockets on us-troops.
and now bush wants saddam t go into exile, but at the same time he says us-tropps will enter iraq even if saddam leaves the country. no, i dont think you can blame the french for anything at all.
