Clipper made Bucaneer Redundant
Hi all,
Have noticed a trend in zik strategy. Ppl are mass building clippers as bs defence over the normal mass build of bucaneers. Its kinda made them redundant as a ship.
Another I have noticed as well is that having pirate steal de is next to pointless as we as zik can't build de to flak stolen lynx. We have to steal more de to do this.
I know that both this are interwoven as the clipper was a de last round.
What you guys think to solve this?

I am more inclined to think that they fulfill different roles. Clippers are very defensive in nature - low ETA, not targeted by Syren (though they are targeted by Wyvern), and as escorts to Ghosts who will also be at many Terran anti CR/BA battles - so in instances where Syren make using DE (Peacekeepers, Chimera, Widowmakers [heh]) impossible to use, Clippers and Ghosts can still be made available in order to defend.
On the other hand, Buccaneers fit very snugly into the Zikonian CR/BA fleet ; Rogues steal more Cruisers to augment that aspect of your fleet, and Buccaneers steal Battleships to help that aspect, and thus can be used to feed off eachother. Whilst buccaneer initiative is bad, in the role of attack the fact that it fires after pods doesnt really matter (as Zik initiative is generally pretty bad anyway), so its not a huge loss.
So the difference is that they depend on roles; Clippers for defence and Buccaneers for attack.

Indeed, stealing DE whilst you have no DE classes to back it up isnt overly wonderful, but if you happen to steal a fair amount of DE, then you can have an additional class to fake in attack (and DCs wont tend to expect DE incoming as it is so rare from Ziks). But you are right, the use of Pirates is somewhat limited to Flak.
Clippers are much better units as a FR, as they arent targeted by Syren. If they were, the Syren would become a super ship and Terran attacking fleets would only need to by Syren + Levs. It would make them far too powerful i reckon.
And boring.

im guessin that someone lost fighters
though to be honest i have always found it strange that small ships ie fighters do not have the lowest initative

Sovereign - maybe true, but with the way Xan FR is getting through more often than not, Zik's are also mainly building FR, as quite simply, it's the hardest class to stop this round.
Fortunately the political situations throughout the ranks are masking the poor stats, its very dull seeing mainly FR fleets as incs, with a fair bit of Cath co also.
