Local time
For those of us who are British this is only half relevant for half the year, but for nearly all other players it's slightly annoying. Could we please have the option to set a timezone ingame?
The old Planetarion used to rely on a central time because the tick wasn't displayed, now that we've had the tick number added many rounds ago could we please have the option to have certain messages displayed in our own time zone? All attacks/defences are organised by tick number these days.
The users time zone could be displayed by default, with some fancy javascript or html which pops up with the same time in GMT when you put the mouse over it, or just display the same time in GMT afterwards in brackets. I'm sure many people who aren't from the UK would appreciate this, as well as us who have to double check the time when it's summer.

Re: Local time
Or, just simply assume that "gmt" means game time.
Different countries change from summertime to wintertime on different dates, it would be somewhat more involved than a simple subtraction/addition to the games clock. By fixing it to one timezone it makes things a whole lot more simple

Re: Local time
I think you'll find that Linux (and various other *NIX operating systems) installs a collection of time zones in /usr/share/zoneinfo. Most programming languages should allow you to access this quite freely, so that more involved calculation is already done for you.
A user could set Europe/London or US/Eastern as their timezone and there should be no problem with the calculations with it. Take a look at this forum as an example, it displays in GMT by default but can change if a user sets their preferences to display otherwise.
Why make things more awkward for the player with constant timezone conversions?

Re: Local time
if most of the UK forget and/or get the change wrong .. what hope do we have for the pa team to get it right ?
theres constant reminders on tv/radio/newspapers, but still people end up in work an hour early tommrow .
we allways use GMT .. no matter what the time is in our countries, and as long as its adhered to, after all pa now has a clock in the corner! its not difficult to deal with .

Re: Local time
I'm strangely attached to the PA clock not displaying the same timezone as me.

Re: Local time
If people were able to set timezones, then there would be a lot of confused people as no one time would be used as a standard when sending messages ingame. Same with announcements made by PaTeam.
Gotta be kept at one timezone - GMT or as Phil^ said, nickname it GaMeTime.

Ok, Pre-round3 i cant remember much, but im sure r3 had a tick already displayed.
And i dont see the problem with GMT at all. its actually much better then local time.

Re: Local time
Why not turn the idea around a bit?
By default have GMT, but have the users local preference displayed afterwards or when they put their mouse over. That way users still understand it's an international game and still have the convenience of their local time if they're too lazy to calculate it.

Re: Local time
Its only gonna make things more confusing.
Everybody has their local time right there on their system clock if they need it. Why make PA more confusing by displaying different times to different players.
