Just out of interest
Say "hypothetically" i've maxed my credit card.
I know i have a bill to pay off of it (it was an installment plan).
I intend transfering money onto the card but can only do this the day before the payment is due to come off*.
Anyways what happens?
"Does the installment plan payment bounce (its £37.50 if that makes a difference)?"
or
"Does the payment go through and i get raped by a fine for having no money on the card?"
or
"Does the card realise that i've paid money onto it and everythings fine?"
The card in question in this hypotetical situation is an egg card (if that makes any difference).
Helpful answers greatfully received.
*as this is the soonest i have money (ie pay day)

Re: Just out of interest
Who's the instalment for?
Maybe if you ring them up and request to change the date, they might allow it. I've done it before. A lot of businesses are understanding if you eat a bit of humble pie.

Re: Just out of interest
it depends how you are paying the money onto the card for a start
it also depends on how you have handles the card in the past, has it been maxed out for a while etc?
if you dont consantly **** about with your card, you will *probably* get away with it this time, but i wouldnt make a habit of it, or they will definately start charging you

Re: Just out of interest
you should get away with it then, unless you are over your limit they will let you get away with things like that a lot of the time

Re: Just out of interest
sometimes they fine you extra for being over the limit. though last time I recall that happening it was when someone went over their overdraft limit, rather than a credit card.

Re: Just out of interest
I once got a £25 fine for forgetting to pay my Barclaycard bill on time.
That took me over my credit limit.
They then charged me £25 for going over the limit.
Which sucked.

Re: Just out of interest
If you have money elsewhere you can make a payment onto your egg card (ie. pay off some of it) on the webpage. However if you need to do it fast, then phoning their customer services may be the way to go.
I had something similar with my bank account, and when I phoned them up I was told that all the transactions were processed for that sort of thing at 8pm, with pay-ins done before pay-outs or fines not being issued until after the entire process was complete or something.
