Join the English alliance, lol only if u r english though

if you are english and wanna join my alliance then you are very welcome, the only condition is that you gotta be english of course last round this alliance finished somewhere in the 60's but there were about 3 people in it because it was started very late, and we did not try to recruit.

Its like r1 again with all these 'limited' membership alliances. Talking from experiance (after all F-Crew's full name is the Farnborough Crew and as the name suggests was for people from Farnborough) such rigid alliances arent good. We learnt this quickly others however didnt and while F-Crew is still around the rest basiclaly faded very quickly.

You see anything thta limits who can be member in this kind of way (be it on nationality or game race) results in you being very open for attack. The key to success is variety, you require members from all timezones who can ensure you have adequate cover at all hours and you need a good mix of game races so you have ships to deal with any kind of attack.

Look at exapanding your recruitment critera else your just dooming the alliance to failure and will end up having many pissed off members

Anyway Knight,
Read the Forum Guidelines (they're at the top of the forum) and put a bit more information about your alliance in this thread.
Especially things like the IRC channel name on the NetGamers network so it's easy for people to contact you.

I personally doubt that, they may want an alliance thats english speaking only but not one limited to those of english nationality only. Most people do realise that you need a mix for nationalities to realistically have any chance. Even if you could find a good group of people whom did just want to be in an alliance of englishmen I wouldnt expect them to stay around long, after a couple of times of being bashed and receiveing no defence because the whole alliance is made up of people from the same timezone thus simerlar activity times they will start to quit

Whats that supposed to mean, should i be saying "WOW what a great idea, how can it fail" even though its a flawed idea. People generally need their entusiam reeled in rather than being inflated so they can actually see the problems with their ideas and work about trying to sort them. If you just play to their ethusiam they are just going to get wrapped up in it and then at some point hit a brink wall and will derail them.

And lets be honest he has a problem in his idea, how many alliances can you name that were successful with this kind of restrictive memberbase, only one that springs to mind for me is TFD but even they werent all dutch, just dutch speakers and their success came more from being a good community something which in todays PA just doesnt cut it (just look at the way that community alliances like TFD and IPC officially withdrew from the game)

wakey it is true you do seem to put a major downer on the new alliances (and those that return)! my alliance consists of 3 english people, and the rest are from the eastern europe and america, which gives me a decent spread of time zones to work with, but if the guy wants an english only alliance a way to get those other time zones would be to allow ex patriots (those who have held english passports, but dont live in the country any more) to join his alliance!

Actually Sevrok your find i'm actually very supportive of new alliances but more often than not they need grounded. Its easy to get caught up in your idea, we have all done it at one time or other but its the lack of someone there to 'ground' you that normally results in failures of alliances as they havent been prepared.

Oh and in your case i wasnt being critical of your alliance, all i said was you would be better off changing your name to something that didnt sound like a current top alliance. The bit I was critical on was your 'story' about your past exploits which either didnt happen (well not in PA anyway) or were greatly exagerted

Advice or not, it would be more positive to the allies cause if you did it through private channels, rather then publically!

i understand your point, but if we do it publically, hopefully people will learn from the minor mistakes of others, then we dont ahve to privately message them all! knight hasnt made a mistake as such, his alliance would work just fine with just english people in it, but by having more time zones in the alliance it may improve its effectiveness!

The problem with people handling things like this privatly is the lack of accountability it gives. Theres nothing stopping anyone giving all manner of bad advise to an alliance privatly without being picked up on it.

It also can be very unfair on those looking for alliances, these are often smaller members who maybe dont have the knowledge to understand the problems an alliance has and as such can make the bad decision and ruin their enjoyment which can ultimatly damage the game.

And tbh I dont see it as knocking down new alliances but rather building them up. With PATeam not taking too mant steps to make the lower end of the game more enjoyable its up to all players to try and ensure the game at the lower end is better which means doing everything you can to help them, just giving advise based on your own experiances of simerlar situations can not only help the alliance whos thread the post is on BUT also any other person who reads it whom might setup an alliance in future. Advice is better being in the public domain than kept private

Hmm...

Just a bit of advice:

While there may be many players of PA from England... they'd be wise to want to join an active and coordinated alliance based on reputation as opposed to nationality.

If you're only going to let English people in that's fine, that is your decision irrellevent of all the pro's and con's. But you shouldn't make that your selling point to the public, as this will not attract people to your alliance.

My advice: play as a small alliance, be active, gain a reputation then ask more people to join you.

I should have done the same with my alliance... but because of PIA's* larger memberbase I was lucky and gained a significant number of good players.

* = PIA (for those who dont know) Is an abbreviation of another webgame not to be confused with PA. I will not use it's full name so I'm not accused of advertising on the forums, but those who play it will know what PIA means, therefore to remove my inclusion of initials PIA in reference to this game would be pointless, beause I'm not broadcasting to any new people.
