so to those lucky souls who have not been victimized by this accursed game, a common question i get after attempting to explain PA is: "Is Planetarion like Counterstrike?"
my answer to them:
"It's like this. Counterstrike is like wanking. It's mindless, it feels good, it's fast, and you've got your fix. Planetarion is like sex. It's better than wanking, it takes planning and thinking about (sometimes), it lasts longer (hopefully), and its just fscking good." *

My rl m8s are often like "d00d come on, this is just an online game, you wont get anything out of it, now lets go party!" I know they're right. But to attempt to justify the three years that I've invested in Planetarion, I've made up a real life lesson that I've learned from playing PA.
Planetarion is like falling in love. It sucks when youre in the relationship, it sucks when you break up, but you wouldnt have traded it for the world. ;p cheesiness++
Like any relationship, Planetarion has its ups and downs. Granted, the downs sort of suck. ;p But it's almost one of those things that just make Planetarion so endearing. Like 15-min long ticks on speed.planetarion.com. Or, that god awful politics screen for terrans (alternating font sizes every other post ffs >:|), not to mention the bigger text size for terran in general. But at the same time, any relationship will come with small things that are irritating, but unavoidable (/me glares at the ppl in charge of text size -- that was certainly fixable fs ;p). And sometimes in the end, they even end up being endearing qualities. Sometimes.
And like many beautiful relationships, this one has come to an end. (yes, i finally admitted that this was a poorly disguised attempt at a goodbye thread ;p). I don't like what the new PA has become, and it's probably time for me to move on anyway. My university would agree; 2 years of PA in uni does quite a number on one's marks ;p
Often, when you spend a lot of time in a long-term relationship, you miss out on other things. In this case, a real life. :\ I wouldn't have changed a thing about my PA experience. To a lot of guys i know irl, i'm "that chick that plays that webgame and says funny things like she's from england or something". Playing PA helped define a part of my personality. It was a special part of my life that most other people will never understand. Their loss.
If you do a googlism on planetarion, one of the results (after fixing the typo) is: "planetarion is a way of life." i dont think there is a better way to say how i feel about PA. it's such a simple statement, yet it says so much about PA and the PA community.
i wanted to a couple things off my back before sneaking outta here. i wish more people had known me from PA rather than from PAG. i doubt many people knew me for more than "just another pretty face", which is disappointing. i'm far prouder of my PA accomplishments than the number of comments on pag or something ridiculous like that. those of you who have actaully played PA with me, thank you for giving me the opportunity to be more than just another pretty face in the game.
