Set Base Fleet to not take part in battle
ok
lil change i suggest:
make the basefleet able to hide from battle (click/unclick)
this will add another fleetslot to your planet (in theory)
at least to the newer players, who fear of loosing ships in defence, cause they cant evacuate (and need to waste a slot for evacuating)
overall we will have some more fleets flying , which is a good thing imo, seeing the drop down of players
yes this will make ingal cross defending a bit easier, specially for newer player, but ofc also help those fortress gals. (though i think experienced players hardly need a slot to evacuate ships, as they send em along where they dont die)
so imo the unexperienced players gain the most
it will make ingal defence easier a bit and we can stick to attack oriented stats (which are more fun imo)

Re: Set Base Fleet to not take part in battle
I don't see how this helps ingal defending, but I agree it should be possible to prevent your ships from taking part in combat at the home planet.

I dont, it frees up another fleet slot which people have to use for running and this really benefits xan more than others.

Re: Set Base Fleet to not take part in battle
Because sometimes you need a fleet slot to keep any remaining ships you don't want to lose. If your galaxy has a large number of waves and you've got ships left, sometimes you might put the spare ships you're unsure about in a fleet slot on prelaunch to save them instead of risking leaving them at base. It can be a huge waste of a fleet slot.
Personally I'd prefer the addition of a fleet slot called "Hangar" to go along with some of the other suggestions in recent threads to help prevent players losing their ships. Any ships produced would automatically go to the hangar, as well as any returning fleets after they've taken part in any combat (so fleet catching still remains).
An on/off switch for the base fleet just doesn't sound right to me - just seems like a clumsy design.

Re: Set Base Fleet to not take part in battle
base/orbit/fleet 1/fleet 2/fleet 3 sounds about right. so you can tuck things in your planet, move stuff to your orbit or put them in fleets that can actually fly.
set a preference where you want your stuff delivered when producing and you can do silly things with scans too if you like!

Re: Set Base Fleet to not take part in battle
I like the idea of base fleet not taking part in combat. It's giving new people a place to save their stuff in, without having to be active 24/7. And we all know that nothing is more frustrating than building your first 500 ships and then lose them because you are away for a day.

Just give the base fleet a drop down option on the mission page

Re: Set Base Fleet to not take part in battle
it will be hard on Ziks, most of them get their ships on small planets turned inactive.
I suggest the order to hide is valid for 48 ticks (more ?) and has to be renewed (message on News telling the 48 ticks have passed)

I disagree. It should never be rewarding to hit small, inactive planets. Not even zik.

true that, i was more thinking of not making it possible to go to vacation while still gaining ressources, which you could if there was no limitation on how long your ships can cruise in orbit

You'd still lose asteroids and structures, so it's not really a kind of vacation mode.

Re: Set Base Fleet to not take part in battle
anything that will report something like this in a news scan would generally be a bad idea.. it would just keep the wolves away for a limited time.

This really shouldn't happen, relying on dead planets to farm ships. It's not a breach of the rules, but personally it feels like it isn't in the spirit of the game.
If such a change becomes a problem for Ziks then the stats can be changed accordingly.

well ziks profit also from this change, as they can keep some of their stolen ships at base without having em trapped (either to safe em, or cause they dont fit any of their attack/defence fleets)
so i dont really see a disadvantage there

Re: Set Base Fleet to not take part in battle
1. I'd prefer not to have an extra fleetslot created, so imo it should only work if you have a fleet available. Like an automatic prelaunch.
2. Otherwise I'd prefer to see newly produced ships automaticly produced in the hangar, reducing the impact of people hiding their ships in production (a design flaw of this game imo).

Why? Please elaborate on how this improves the gameplay experience for people.

Side track (and prob a idea thought of many times), include production ships in a scan and eta to completion.

and a scan of what time the player is in bed and when his prod queue is due to come out, and whether his def is fake or not.
there must be more scans that take all logical thought out of the game but i can't think of any atm.

Re: Set Base Fleet to not take part in battle
Ahh the memories, I remember considering options for this back in r3 or 4 when fleetcatching was introduced. (hovering was possible for active planets before then)
I like the idea about flipping base fleet to defend/hide. Why should fleet commanders be forced on suicide missions?
