Adams Interest Thread

Hi everyone! I'm just brimming with ideas and I need a place to put them or my head will pop! These are genral ideas which will hopefully form into good threads.

1. Pirates, Your a priate you go on the open sees and be a pirate.
2. Generic RPG with a good storyline and requires good RPs
3. Marines-Your either the leader or a member of a marine platoon. Together you choose missions which you will be placed in and you get money and stuff for it which you use to recruit members and buy equipment
4. Paintball which you are in a team (of 4 or otherwise) to play paintball enter tournaments to get better gear!
5. Gladiator you are a gladiator this can either be slave style or be done in schools. Pitted against other players or fights?
6. D&D will require everyone to trust me and unless I spend several weeks will require the books or a general understanding of the game

Just checking your interest.

Re: Adams Intrest Thread

Just forget about the pirates. There have been three pirate threads on the boards in the last year and not one got past set up.

Paintball is a bit newer idea but not my thing.

Gladitor thread could be cool, but it would be better with more of a plot instead of just an arena.

Re: Adams Intrest Thread

Thats what the school is. You would run a camp of gladiators and compete in different arenas at the start a plot would develope. I didn't think of the pirate getting off the ground. Paintball is more of a one shot thing for me, spur of the moment idea.

Well if you think out the plot of the Gladiator thread so that it doesn't just focus on the fighting I may give it a go.

Hmmm. It will take a bit of thinking to get a plot. These ideas require alot of refining to make usable.

Re: Adams Intrest Thread

Why confine everyone to being a gladiator in an arena anyhow? Why not have the whole of Rome and let them be whatever they want? A thread with plenty of creativity space is more interesting for the RPer and more interesting for the DM.

This also is what kills all (your) threads.

Re: Adams Intrest Thread

That IS a problem.

Unfortunatly so.

Threads are always started during a time where the DM is relaxed, has a lot of time and is free of all the pains in the Real World.

Then time passes and suddenly they have exams, or the Rpers have exams, or someone is kneedeep in work, or someones gf is demanding more attention, or the DM just loses interest.

Sometimes a few of the Rpers just ditches the thread, without giving a reason. When you have relied on them when creating the plot....

Nope. Too much work for the DM = death. A thread being open-ended with room for players to be creative doesn't necessitate more work for the DM at all. Including things like stat systems and such does, however.

Edit: I have a feeling I was referenced in the last post.

Re: Adams Intrest Thread

It's not that everyone hates the pirate threads its everyone gives up on them before they start. I tried plot with little stats, I tried some stats with a touch less plot more fighting, I tried giving a consensus over which type of pirate but none of it seemed to matter. I guess it's all about timing.

Re: Adams Intrest Thread

Interjecting again most briefly: if you do make a pirate thread, you might want to think about having portions where people walk around on islands and yo ho ho with bottles of rum on a dead man's chest and so on and so forth, as opposed to confining them permanently to naval engagements on pirate ships.

Well hopefully you can get more than one damn person making a ship before the nitpicking starts and the lack of any characters written so i had nothing to work with. *Grumbles about the hours and hours lost to planning thanks to nitpicking*

I still think gladiotor is the better choice. But apparently you ignored the earlier votes. I wasn't aware I had to vote again.

Re: Adams Intrest Thread

It is not written in stone yet so to speak I'm leaning to pirates but if I can get more ideas for the gladiator and note it will not be in rome, but romish style because then I woulkd be forced to bow to the whims of history and that is very restricting.. Gladiators is still a good idea but im seeing some early flaws that can see it fall. Im looking for a game I can run for at the least 1-3 months.
