PA Adverts?
What happened to advertising in PA?
I remember there used to be banners on pages at one point round 19 is the first I remember of them and then they suddenly disappeared, I thought this was due to my upgraded accounts. However I see on free accounts these banners no longer exist. What happened and why we decide to ditch advertising of PA?
I'm told it is advertised on facebook but I'm yet to see this. I know the world has moved on since banners were the primary source of getting your message out there but it seems like we aren't even trying at the moment. Even signing up to google adwords would be a start in my opinion. We have the tracking code for analytics.. its only 1 step more.

Re: PA Adverts?
I guess everyone is so taken back at the thought of advertising I broke this part of the forum.

Re: PA Adverts?
Ad revenue generated by a game with <1000 players is peanuts, even if all of us clicked on every banner too.
And ads inside PA wouldn't help PA getting out there.

Re: PA Adverts?
Ad revenue is not the purpose of the advert in this instance.
Infact I'm not even suggesting having adverts ingame (however it would make sense) but the fact we dont have adverts anywhere is what worries me more.
If you dont place adverts its highly unlikely you are going to get your planetarion advert rolled out to other high profile websites for click through.
We already use google analytics, I dont understand why this next step isn't taken. You can even do some very basic analysis on your demographics to start pitching the game at the audience you have and are after.
At the moment the planetarion.com domain is valued at approx £20k last I checked. If for no other reason than lacing appoco and pals pockets with money then adverts should be used to drive the price up.

Re: PA Adverts?
You started your original post about PA showing banners/ads, hence I spoke about advertising within PA.
iirc the domain is still not under lamps ownership and with the "revenues" the game makes, you can't really buy that many views, advertising isn't free, anywhere. Are you sure you know what you're talking about?
Few examples: AdWords from Google cost up to 1$ per click (CPC) or I believe the minimum for Cost per Impression (CPM) is about 5$ per day. Facebook ad prices depend on the size of the target and the amount of views you want, we paid 7.5€ per day to show an ad to a very limited group (under 3k people). So, you'd need approx 2 NEW people to buy a credit per day to actually afford it or if PA showed ads in game, approx 50 clicks (AdSense pays somewhat 0.1-0.15$/click) on the ads per day to pay for the ads outside of PA and those clicks should not come from the same IPs or Google may very well withhold the payments due to suspecting foul play.

Re: PA Adverts?
it's not about bothering, it's just about that first we'd need to find a way to pay for it.

Re: PA Adverts?
so if everyone who played this round clicked one ad we'd get roughly $80 so thats a weeks worth of advertising paid for and you may recruit 20 more players, which will add another $2 of revenue, seems like its no risk.
that's a whole $2 of profit!

Re: PA Adverts?
Yeah, that only requires incorporating the ads back to PA and everyone clicking on them, preferably daily. There are other similarish browser games with ads and clicking on the ads gives you a small bonus (about a ticks worth of resources or construction/research points maybe). Doing a similar thing might not be that bad for PA. Video ads pay more, so watching a 20 second video could give you a few ticks worth.
