Desktop time again!
It's been a while and I'm feeling geeky.
Also I happen to think mine lookes especially purty at the moment. I put a line down the middle to show where the gap between the monitors is.
ps. post yours.
pps. i realise half of you will hate me for this.

Re: Desktop time again!
The visual style is an integral part of LTP.
And yes, it is nice and clean

Re: Desktop time again!
No, it's not like windowblinds.
It makes some alterations to certain windows files so that it can add additional visual styles. There is no skinning over the top of the existing windows framework done, all the visual styles use the windows system hence it's just as stable as using the XP Blue theme or whatever.

Re: Desktop time again!
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a97.../snapshot1.png
This was mine. Then I ****ed around with slackware to much and tried to create my own distribution, and generally spent too much time fiddling about, and not enough time reading books. I quite liked it, in fact, it was ace. I was using wordpress as a local diary, it wasn't on the internet, I don't want strangers masturbating whilst reading my entries, and yes I know you are doing said activity whilst reading this post, there's no need to tell me, thanks. But now I'm back in windows listening to my music on iTunes and using word to jot down my musings. (I've also installed JDK, (and I'm even enjoying using the Java libraries which is a surprise) Python with the GTK module and Lua for kicks.) It is also quite pleasant. But windows is windows, as the old adage goes.
Good-day.

Re: Desktop time again!
ps. the best thing to do in windows is make the icons 'large'. I think you can set that option in the 'display options' panel. It just makes everything so much nicer.

Re: Desktop time again!
Ok, in no particular order:
Taskbar & window styles are sorted by the LTP package mentioned above.
Background is this.
Winamp skin is this.
Traffic monitor bit is a really simple config i knocked up in Samurize.
Round icons on the right are Y'Z Dock with a combination of these icons and these icons.
Window shadowing is done by Y'Z Shadow.
The weather display is DesktopX using the core weather widget.

Mine
Nothing too fancy, a couple of widges from Konfabulator (or whatever it's called) that I don't think I like, a dogs bollox back drop and a standard Style XP skin that I can't remember the name of.

Longhorn / Vista Beta
sorry, i have somehow cut off the bottom, but there isnt much to be seen. im not that impressed by the whole thing. for some strange reason my network doesnt seem to work anymore . then there is no driver for my raid. i guess i have to wait for the final version...
edit: oh, and im not sure that this is even the right version. it says 'longhorn' everywhere, but the OS is called Vista now, isnt it? mayabe this is some old release
