Do you remember Ed Tudor-Pole who used to present the Crystal Maze?
Yeah? Well basically, it's his band.

I had the misfortune of watching Dungeons and Dragons (the movie) the other day (it was on in the background while i was internetting it up) and the only good thing about it was that Richard O'Brien was the head of the thieves guild and he made one of the "goodies" go through a maze to get a magic item. It was funny 'cause i just imagined him doing his Crystal Maze bit. An inspired piece of casting anyway.

Re: I'm ****ing ecstatic I am
I really wanted to see Immaculate Machine next week but I have an exam the next day
Every year I have missed a band due to a uni exam the next day (Catch 22 and NoFx are the main ones I remember)
Haven't actually seen any live bands in quite a while though.

they've played everywhere in the country - one of these bands that used to do 300 gigs a year.
and live on £3 a day.

Yeah, Hyde Park.
Is that right or am I being led on/got my dates wrong?

I'm going to see the futureheads again in a couple of weeks, looking forward to that.
I have to say, I've never heard of Lightyear, and thought Tenpole Tudor were long split-up.

Re: I'm ****ing ecstatic I am
I'm coming back to the UK next week for a few months, so I'll be missing all the festivals and stuff over here over the summer, including an outdoor one on the grounds of a castle, with Ken Yokoyama (Hi Standards front man's new band)...
Went to see Bad Religion/MXPX/Ellegarden/Beat Crusaders/Others in Osaka a couple of months back, that was pretty sweet. Though I must admit a lot of the fun was finding ingenious ways to get past the ticket collecters (Can we have a photograph with you? Thanks.... RUN GUYS).
Missed Coldcut/Underworld/Autechre/Chris Cunningham/Carl Cox a few months back due to hearing about it too late :crymeariver:
I'll hopefully put on a gig while im in the UK, before I come back to Japan, up Dundee way (hopefully at the new skate park up that way)

Re: I'm ****ing ecstatic I am
I mean it was an enjoyable gig. 95% of the people there were at least over forty and they clearly hadn't even been much in their day.
It's one of the problems in liking music which was only ever mildly popular twenty-five years ago.

Re: I'm ****ing ecstatic I am
This year we seem to have a lot of 'older' bands releasing new albums.
I hear good things about the new Muse album in the works.
Unfortunatly we don't get very many good concerts down here, in fact the best I can name coming up is the Arctic Monkey's. I'm not really a fan so I won't be going to that.

The (even more pronounced than usual) falsetto gives it a different feel to most of their other stuff, but it's from the same sort of school of influences as Time is Running Out (so, Michael Jackson and that kind of pop).

They played most of the album at a set for the beeb the other day. It still sounds like it's the same band, but it's different from Absolution to the same degree that Absolution is different from Origin of Symmetry.
(Knights of Cydonia is very easily available, for example).

Re: I'm ****ing ecstatic I am
going to see Iron Maiden in December, really looking forward to that one, missed out on their last tour.
Also got tickets for Tool and Deftones in June, Tool really dont tour too often so really looking forward to that.
Last gig i went to was part of the Celtic connections festival, group called Bellowhead, they were really good actually i was surprised. Quite crazy they play about every instrument you can imagine mix of sax/electric guitar/bagpipes/violin/chello/drums, as well as several others, but its put together really well.

Placebo, We Are Scientists, Arctic Monkeys and Tool. The same day.
And then later that week, there is The Raconteurs, Coheed and Cambria, Death Cab for Cutie, Rufus Wainwright, and Muse. I'm hoping it will be an interesting week... Though, still some waiting until July. The arrangement is outdoors, so I'm just hoping for good weather.
