BBC again show thorough research...
I'm really really sorry for the source, someone showed it to me, to quote and hopefully deprive the site of ad-revenue:
Quote:
A computer expert has described his astonishment at seeing the BBC's 24-hour news channel interview a taxi driver - in the mistaken belief it was him.
Guy Kewney - a white, bearded technology expert - was astonished to see himself appear on screen as a black man with an apparent French accent. He was even more shocked to see himself unable to answer basic questions about the legal battle between the Beatles' Apple Corps and Apple Computer over the use of an apple symbol.
...
The man, who had been waiting for his fare in the reception of Television Centre, found himself being ushered into a studio and fitted with a microphone after raising his hand when a producer called out the name Guy Kewney.
...
It is unclear why the driver identified himself when Mr Kewney's named was called but it is thought he had been waiting to pick the computer expert up.
...
"We apologise to viewers for any confusion."

heh, that's brilliant.
It's not surprising though. News 24 is run by wankers.

BBC its a great institution but these ****s up happen I guess, anyway mildly funny for all. Except the producer who will probably be sacked.

it was brilliant the other night; the newreader/anchor chap was completely hammered. on the tomorrow's papers review bit he was alternating between muttering incomprehensibly and shouting in surprise. "now, there's a Times here somewhere...whereisit..where's themmphgrphTimesmmph...THE TIMES! HERE IT IS! WHAT DOES IT SAY? HERE IT IS! Tony..Blair..something about John Prescott here too..." god I wish I'd taped that. He was swaying as well.

Yeah. They had a guy on about a week ago to review the papers in the early hours who was completely pissed as well.

Re: BBC again show thorough research...
Yeah, it sure was. I think he did quite well considering he knew absolutely nothing about what he was being asked about. He did n`t flapp or phreak out. I think he thought it was all a part (though a very odd part) of the interview process (He arrived to attend an interview at the time). I read else where that they even put make up on him; an even stranger thing to happen when you go for interview at the BBC.

Re: BBC again show thorough research...
According to the story on the BBC news site the chap wasn't there waiting to collect a fare, he was there for an interview. The producer of the show went to the wrong reception and asked the receptionist for 'Guy' and she pointed at the chap. Both the IT expert and this chap were called 'Guy', this is why the chap didn't know it wasn't really him they wanted - they asked for 'Guy' he's called 'Guy'!
