Student Jobs
I'm a student. I have a part-time job working at a bar at the moment; the pay's okay but that's only really because its based in central London and the sideline opportunities are nothing that couldn't be attained through other channels.
So I'm looking for an alternate job, but I've got to admit that pretty much everything down here has blown my mind. When trying to do anything, the city opens up a window of opportunity that my rather blinkered eyes cannot fully consume. I'm lost.
Does anyone know of any opportunities for part-time work that, essentially, is varied, pays reasonably and does not work on the assumption that despite my four human limbs, human head and human torso I have the brain of a clockwork monkey?

Two words for you. "Medical experimentation". That is all.

I'm surprised this came before the "rentboy" suggestion, but not at all disappointed! Is this a viable option? If it were, I doubt I'd make a good sample.
Unfortunately night work might well interrupt my course.

well choose a day where you start late if you do, or finish work at 8 go to uni at 9, then sleep after that. Or work during the day!

Re: Student Jobs
Look around your university. They normally employe students for various, not just bar work, tasks.

Re: Student Jobs
Arent you a philosophy student? I'd continue with the barwork; students are often advised to find jobs during uni that will be relevant to their career after graduation.

Re: Student Jobs
I'm someone who actually does do medical experimentation. It's money for old rope.
Also, I just started working at my Uni doing fund raising. You could try be one of those charity people in the street who annoy people. Even though it's a shit job I seem to remember hearing the pay is OK.
Or if you get desperate there are still plenty of call centres about.

Re: Student Jobs
I worked for my college over the summer, did some house keeping and waiting in Hall. I was basically able to choose my own hours, and worked with my friends, and generally had a laugh. I didn't see the point in trying to get some pretentious internship or whatever, since I was going to spend the next three years working in the physics dept.

Re: Student Jobs
I don't know if the Passport Office in London has an evening shift but if so it might be worth checking out (piss easy job which is comparitively well paid etc).

Apparently they don't.
I know one who used to work there. He had to quit to focus on his course.
