killing a virus 101
i have a virus, called w32.kbot.c.worm, infecting my system, BUT, norton 2004 seems to be able to do precisly bollock all about it, and gives me the message:


Source: C:\WINNT\system32\system32.exe
Description: The file C:\WINNT\system32\system32.exe is infected with the W32.Kwbot.C.Worm virus.

so, can anyone tell me how you would go about getting rid of this, as i have no bloody clue

Update the virus definitions.
Restart the computer in Safe Mode.
Run a full system scan and delete all the files detected as W32.Kwbot.C.Worm.
Delete the values that the worm added to the registry.

i have just updated and run the latest norton pack, as i only just installed and updated norton tonight


my problem is, i am scared to edit my registry to get rid of the values, oh well, will have to leave it till tomorrow and get my programmer type housemate to do it for me
