I'm after a favour
This is on a total whim but...
Does anyone happen to be driving past Northampton on Boxing Day?
The basics of it is...
I'm in Essex & am supposed to be going to my girlfriend's parent's house on Boxing Day for a family meal.
However, trains are not running.
I'm stuck on what to do
Does anyone have any intention of travelling Northbound Boxing Day?
It is a highly unlikely chance there is, but you need to ask on the off chance!!!
I'll pay you £££ :crymeariver:

Re: I'm after a favour
I've looked on National Express - couldn't see anything obvious.
Sent them an email hoping for a reply.
I do not know of any other services.

Re: I'm after a favour
surely this is a blessing as opposed to a disaster? I mean you can just blame the shitty rail services and go to do something fun instead of going to see your girlfriend's parents? although, the meal does sound appealing...

Can you drive? Could you rent a car or something?

Re: I'm after a favour
Do you think you could learn to drive and pass your test and arrange the use of a car before the 26th Minty?

Re: I'm after a favour
If I lived in the south, and could drive I would drive you up to help you out, unfortunately im not, so so sorry.
If there is some way of bribing a friend to drive you up, it isnt that far. Good luck.

True, if I did have a car, could drive and wasn't doing anything on boxing day I would probably do it.
I can't think of a GDer who drives and lives in the south (maybe skiddy) but im sure he is working.

Yeah I have already approached Skiddy - he said he has to work.
Which is a bummer for the both of us

If you were paying good money and if I didn't have to work on Boxing Day, I'd do it

Could she or someone else get somene to come and pick you up?
Incidently, I have no idea how long this trip would take or how far you need to travel.

Re: I'm after a favour
You dont drive... its boxing day... how on earth do they expect u to get there ?
I find it a bit sad that u are *expected* , in circumstances that are understandably dodgy in the public transport sector.

You're forgetting to factor in costs such as fuel and depreciation/wear&tear of the vehicle.

And the inconvenience of driving two and a half hours back with no fare.
