this was initially going to be a reply to my other thread but it was too long and too complex to have it being mixed up in pointless drivel, or at least irrelevent pointless drivel.
to be perfectly frank I did not desire (or expect) the other thread to turn into a discussion on my inability to find a job. It was mainly about the new course I have started but I don't think people* realised and people used it to give their own opnion on a topic which was done to death. And as we all know, the first reply can set the tone for the rest of the thread.
Being the trooper I am, I attempted to carry on but in all honesty my heart just wasn't in it. Now I see an oppertunity to get this thread back on some kind of original path. 'How will you be able to manage this terrific feat?' I hear you all ask**. Well the answer is simple, with
this thread.
the situation is as follows. I have not yet been paid for this work, but the job centre knows I performed this work. As a result they stopped my Job Seekers Allowence until I give the information. I wasn't aware this was happening so one day I recieved a letter saying I had gone over my overdraft limit.
I phoned the Job Centre and I got them to send me a giro for the 14-28 May, to cover me until I got the pay sorted. I was not expecting another payment until this was sorted (or I phoned them to say it wasn't sorted), but I recieved a letter today to say I shall recieve Job Seekers Allowence on Friday. I think this is because I started New Deal and the money changes a little.
So today I phoned my employer and he said that it costs him money to put me on the books so I will have to be put down as a 'day labourer' and that the job centre will probably send him a form that he has to fill in sort things out. Firstly, that doesn't really ring true for me, especially as he has told me that I have to go there and pick up the money myself, which is akward as its rather out of the way and I no longer have transportation.
Secondly, he told me that I had worked 16 hours (which is the cut-off point for Job Seekers Allowence) at £5.35 an hour which works out at '£30 a day', which it most certainly is not.
So basically I think he's trying to pull a fast one and I'm not really sure what to do as the Job Centre may have sorted out one problem due to excessive bureaucracy but it could pop right up and bite me on the arse when I'm least expecting it.
Some general words on 'is th Dole going to get me?' 'Is he trying to pay me illegally?' 'what the hell? I only worked for two days, why all the hassle?' would be appreciated.
