CSS+Browser Support Survey
Wish there was a way to create a poll )-: (unless i'm missing the option)
To the people
Anyway I just wanted to get an idea on which browsers people are using to play planetarion and also which ones they have installed.
- Opera
- Firefox
- Internet Explorer (please state which version i.e 5/6/7)
- Other (state which one)
Do people who have IE 6 intend to upgrade (or downgrade in some peoples eyes) to IE 7?
Also to the Devs
1) To what extent had CSS been used in the current game layout? Last time I played it was still using all tables and html styling (inbedded in the html).
If the above answer is "little or no CSS" what would the workload be like to implement such a move?
2) or if the answer is "we use CSS", do you adhere to the CSS standards regarding multiple browsers? i.e using CSS hacks/multiple style sheets.

Re: CSS+Browser Support Survey
Last round we checked this out via the # of logins from each sort of browser. We found it was basically ff2 > IE 6 > IE 7 >> ff 1.5
It was about 101k/99k/83k/39k
This was done on logins not users, and wasn't 100% precise, but it gives some idea.
And though I don't know how many will admit it, there's a fair amount of pirated win XP copies out there that will have problems installing IE 7, hence lack of upgrading to that (though many would use FF2 instead I think).
In terms of what % of the game is CSS, the answer is now a LOT of it. Cin is gradually recoding the pages from tables to divs where appropriate (i.e. most of the time) and all text, menus, headers, and most messages (and even the progress bars..) are all positioned by css.
Examples:
http://game.planetarion.com/images/t...lanetarion.css
http://game.planetarion.com/images/t...lanetarion.css
http://game.planetarion.com/images/t...lanetarion.css
http://game.planetarion.com/images/t...lanetarion.css
http://game.planetarion.com/images/t...lanetarion.css
http://game.planetarion.com/images/t...lanetarion.css
http://game.planetarion.com/images/t...lanetarion.css
In #45 and #44, the metal / crystal / eonium /score/ value / etc, as well as the planet name and ruler name, have all been moved to very non standard positions.

Re: CSS+Browser Support Survey
Firefox on my pc, opera on my mobile phone.
I have IE installed purely for when I come across a site that doesn't like FF (which isn't that often any more).

Re: CSS+Browser Support Survey
Opera 9, Firefox 2 and Internet Explorer 7 all installed, with the first one being pretty much exclusively used.

Re: CSS+Browser Support Survey
I use the latest Firefox, though I don't play PA so this post was kind of pointless.

Re: CSS+Browser Support Survey
Indeed we are not really the slice of the PA community, but if it helps IE 7 for me.
