New potatoes
What the **** makes them 'new'?
Also, they are ****ing horrible. I rate them alongside sweaty cheese, rustlers, and pizza hut in the "Not really food" category

Re: New potatoes
I've started regressing with my veg. As a kid I'd eat all veg, loved it. Now I've a strong aversion to garden peas (but can happily eat mushy and marrowfat all day long) and parsnip.
The parsnip one's just because it keeps disguising itself as the significantly tastier roast potato, so I've just made the mental connection between the taste of parsnip and that of bitter, bitter disappointment.

Re: New potatoes
These new potatoes? (God, that's awful.)
Maybe they're bioegineered and genetically modified to be 'new.'

Re: New potatoes
They're OK I suppose, but only OK!
Roast potatoes are so much nicer.
And I won't hear a bad word against parsnips - they are the best vegetable ever invented!

Re: New potatoes
Turnips and Parsnips are the same diabolical vegetable, just in a different guise. They both are the nastiest things ever invented.
Them and Simon Cowell.

Re: New potatoes
Have you ever seen Robinson disguise herself as a roast potato? Thought not; even she isn't as diabolical. Bulldog clip at the back of the head notwithstanding.

Re: New potatoes
They don't boil properly to make mash really, they're a little too waxy so you just end up with 'squished' potato as opposed to fluffy mash. It's not unpleasant though, the skin adds a bit of variety. **** to clean off a potato masher mind.

Re: New potatoes
parnsips are shit.
EXCEPT when roasted.
In which eventuality they are the only thing superior to roast potato.
For this reason I associated the taste of roast parsnip not with disappointment, but of that feeling of jubilance associated with finding a pound down the back of the sofa.

Roast potatoes > *
I'm not sure if I liked boiled potatoes or baked potatoes more, but both are better than mashed potatoes tbh.

I have no issue with turnips or parsnips, but prefer potatoes, peas and carrots.
Simon is just funny, as is Anne!
