I gather that people are sick of threads regarding the reputation system, so I figured that was a pretty damn good topic to use for my first thread on GD.
In any case I'd like to say that as a relative outsider to this community I have found that receiving reputation has certainly buoyed my confidence somewhat and made me feel a closer part of the community, so for that I am grateful for it.
I suppose I've left it rather brief, revealed a vulnerability within my character and possibly all this without even having contributed anything new to the discussion: all in all I've left a spectacular target. I was going to prepare a defence as I won't be back tonight, but honestly I can't be arsed and tomorrow I will more than likely feel the same so I guess you can flame away.
PS Circle repping is shit, and honestly who cares what people think of you anyway?

Re: Reputation
Let's make a seperate forum for discussions on the rep system. Like a suggestions forum or something.

I'm pretty sure I just pos-repped ephor and changed his number of green dots from one to four. I'd like to thank the internet for taking the time to recognise my greatness in this newfound fashion. You've been great and I've been better.

is this post really about how this post isn't a very good beginning to a thread about rep?
that's some solid self-referential shit right there.

Re: Reputation
Acropolis means that Ephor's saying how some people seem to be fed up with the reputation system and then goes on to discuss just that on his post.
i.e. "I've found a topic everyone's fed up with, so I'll make my first thread about it to be more in the community".
Quite impressive logic Though my posts are usually as bad

It appears the rep system has once again failed to improve the quality of a poster.

Re: Reputation
I like to think that your 8 blobs, 2767 posts and jul 2003 reg date dont quite equal my 5000 rep, 4491 posts and sep 2000.
i suspect there was a stronger force involved here...

Re: Reputation
7 blobs is the range 550-650.
Koen has approx. 40 rep power, while Deepflow has 100, so the difference they made would be -60. If Ephor was on 610+ when it happened, he'd remain on 7.

Neg rep has 1/3 (Or some other ridiculous amount) the effect of a pos rep. So neg repping will not really make much difference unless it is done by 12 'big' posters all for the same post.
This explains why a lot of mediocre/poor posters have seemingly more rep than they deserve.
Just another reason why rep is shit!
