This was more of a commentary on the actions of a particular agent, one whos known for disrupting the harmony at clubs by getting their star players to demand transfers when things are going well.

Which is perfectly true. Willie McKay is a bastard.

Re: [Football] Joey Barton hands in Transfer Request
I think its pretty low for Barton to pack up and ask to leave. Man City stood by him through all the troubles he had.
On the bright side as a Man Utd fan id love to see him don the red shirt. Would piss all the City boys right off whilst being an ideal replacement for some of our injured midfielders. Another Roy Keane in the making possibly? Not quite of the standard, but has all the attributes that Keano had....

Fat Ronaldo's (at Real Madrid) case was even more hilarious given that Inter Milan paid him full wages whilst being on the sidelines for nearly a year or something. And the minute he came back (after the World Cup 2002), he asked for a transfer.

Alan Stubbs springs to mind too, but i dont know if that was the same agent.
Barton is a little shit. Although he's showed promise for a while, this is truly his first "stand out" season, so for him to hold the club to ransom (when im pretty confident i saw an article titled "Barton wont hold Man City to ransom" earlier in the year) is just appalling.
Arsenal or Man Utd could do with his grit and his midfield goals. Liverpool might be a preferred destination for him though, i dont know (dont need to move too far, still 'anti man utd'). Anyone's better than sissoko, so he would get a game there too.

That's not particularly similar. The sticking point was always over the length of contract, and he never handed in a transfer request. Money and "moving to a bigger club" can't particularly have been an issue, as Everton were, at that point, in the Champions League, and he left to join Sunderland, who, lets face it, aren't.

I was thinking of when Celtic paid his wages and supported him through his treatment for testicular cancer, then he rejected a new contract and left on a free to join everton

Re: [Football] Joey Barton hands in Transfer Request
Alan Stubbs was born on Merseyside, and is an Everton support, you know.
