Corpse Bride.
It was fairly middling. It didn't have the pace, the humour, or the sense of fun that Nightmare Before Christmas did - which it will be inevitably compared to. The characterisation was fairly poor and I never really enagaged. My patience with films is monumental, but I found myself becoming bored too easily and reaching for my watch. A kid on the way out shouted "Boring!". I kind of grudgingly felt that way too. I felt that Burton was simply churning out the old forumla of 'tragic circumstances in a dark setting' with no attention to detail. It looked excellent, but that was the only thing to write home about. If only the rest of it had been so good.
Not a triumph for Burton. If you want to watch him doing this kind of thing properly, then watch Sleepy Hollow or Nightmare Before Christmas.
