It's reasonable to expect that either ToF were unable to save him (so pulled defence to preserve defenders' fleets) or the planet in question declined defence because of expected retals on defenders. The latter is a well-known EX tactic (in no way limited to just them ofc).

After the thread just a couple of days ago about planet vs alliance, makes sense

Maybe, God forbid, ToF don't have enough firepower to stop that sort of thing and be ready for the inevitable retals from an alliance with over 100 million more score?

EDIT: I'd also like to point out, it would take 150,000 sentinels to turn this battle into a 'victory'. It would obviously be possible to do so with various other ships (combining ass/spid/vsh for instance) but being that ToF are not an alliance full of absolutely huge members, that would be a completely unacceptable waste of fleets. The only policy i could think of to deal with this would be retaliation. Which would be particularly frustrating as ToF have neither the ships nor fleets to get past eXi def on their own.

What good would Zik attackers have done? They have no anti-FR eta 8 ships. And if they had sent eta 9 ships it would have been a lot more likely for the incoming to be covered.

tbh, if that was a tof dude they were attacking, which im not sure of, but assuming what i have read.
If they wanted to get trough, they would have gotten trough, tof doesnt have unlimited of def..
And they would have gained more if they actually stole his ships.. Easier way to say it, they stole his value

250k vsh + 18k pulsar + 17k fireblade + 47k arrowhead.

Kinda makes ally anti FR useless. And is a nasty surprise for any eta8 anti FR that gets launched too.

Well, in an ideal world the defenders would have been stolen, not killed. But that would have been a lot harder to pull off. Loads of Zik ships and Cat ships would have had to be sent. Probably a lot more Zik and Cat ships than what could have been mustered in the time available. It also would have got a lot more messy since ToF would have had an extra tick to organise defence. The attackers certainly wouldn't have suffered zero losses like they did here. Better to have a surgical strike than an all out melee.


By the way, I think it's very unsporting of Exilition to pick on a guy that is a member of an alliance that is ranked 10th :/
