Sweepstakes on the pope
Right, it looks like he is finally about to shuffle off this mortal coil, so sweepstakes. pick a 30 minute slot that he will die today. alternativaly, die another day.
my bets are
10:30 - 11 am BST. (British Summer TIme)

Re: Sweepstakes on the pope
He's tough enough... He'll make it to the night, and die at April second (no one dies at april fools day, it's not funny) between 3:00 and 3:30 local time.
Edit:
That is 2:00 - 2:30 GMT BTW.

I can't help but think that the guy will just jump up from his bed tonight and yelling "april fools!".

Update 10:27 ( www.fok.nl (Dutch))
The italian media said the pope slipped into a coma. The vatican officially denied this.
Shit, I might lose this

maybe, but I am not going to hope too much. though you have inspired me, I will just claim it is a conspiriacy by the entire catholic church to deny me my prize of being able to gloat on GD.

most likely yeap. seems with the queen mum gone, reagan gone, and the pope within hours of shuffling off the mortal coil, the only notable oldie we will have left will be none other than Mrs Thatcher. we need famous almost dead more old people dammit.

It'll be tonight, be it this evening, or in the small hours of the morning. Not too specific I realise.
