What? Zhukov's postings about Israel/US? Yes, probably.

Re: So much for the Road Map
i wasn't being nasty about Zhukov
it's an important issue and he feels strongly about it.
I take it this thread isn't gonna include much debate... ah well.

Re: So much for the Road Map
i had a road map once, but i couldn't memorise all the routes i needed and i kept bumping into people when i tried reading and walking. Standing still and reading made me look like a tourist so i just threw it away and learned empirically.

Re: So much for the Road Map
This kind of thing has such an incredible impact on me, you just can not believe it. I cry my heart out every day for those people.
Meanwhile I don't know who my neighbours are because I think they are stupid folks (except for the son in 3a who is a major pussy, I'd kick his ass in no-time) and I have no idea or clue what politics are going on in my local region or even the name of my town's mayor.
Basicly I shut my door and read about politics in the middle east and stuff because then I feel in control of my life because I can point fingers and feel better.
Hey, maybe the 3a people are jewish. Aaaah, now things start to make sense!

Re: So much for the Road Map
This isnt a huge surprise tbh. There are isralis who have made their lives in the westbank. Yes it wasnt the 'brightest of ideas' and yes 'it should not have happened' but it did. And its not entirely Israel's fault that its arab neighbours decided to prepare a strike against Israel that went bad so long ago and therefore lost the land Israel should now be giving back.
The thing is that some of the people living there have nothing to do with the continued occupation of the land. THey live there and are jewish and part of israel but they are just ordinary people trying to make their lives as best they can.
Obviously i dont agree with the wall or the continued Israeli use of the military against soft targets but its not quite as black and white as most people would like it to be. Its a shame they cant all just 'get along'.
However this isnt really going to do the US any favours. Especially seeing as its come from a lower source than the president himself. Maybe its to test the water. He can always deny that was said and claim that the guy was not speaking for the administration but only for himself etc...

They aren't just ordinary people though. They are the most extreme parts of the israeli population. Most of them are pretty militant as well.
All the settlements were set up illegally under full knowledge by the Israeli Government.
If you say "these settlements are ok but these aren't" that sends a completely mixed message and it won't work.

Quite honestly, I'd just beat all parties around the face with a club on the hour every hour till they agreed.

I can see their English department is fairly limited in it's inter-faculty influence though.

The problem is not really the existing settlements; it's that settlement activity still continues. That should be stopped.

Re: So much for the Road Map
I think you could come away with the whole current situation, given that you would open up in stead of repress and retaliate.
It's all so stupid. We all know israel was founded by people we would call terrorists now, blowing up hotels with British servicemen so that 'the world would listen'.
