University of Manchester
1) is it any good?
2) is it any good for PPE?
that is all.

Re: University of Manchester
Social Sciences are good at Manchester, Manchester itself is ****ing brilliant (which is as important as the university).
I know nothing of the PPE course, but I think it's fairly small.

Cambridge is better for PPE. Even though there isn't a PPE course.
Do ASNAC instead.

Why do you British people* chose such weird studies. Sure "social sciences" sounds cool, but you probably have more chance of finding a job as a carpenter. No?

yes, but i dont have the self-discipline to get there anyway. i'll look into it and oxford anyway for shits and giggles, but manchester and reading seem to be leading the charge right now.

If I wanted a job as a result of my studies I'd have done something tedious and vocational. In my opinion you should study something because you have a genuine love or passion for the subject, not because you think it might get you some cash later on. Most of the people I've met who are at university for those reasons tend to be tossers.
Obviously if your passion / interest can set you on a good career path (e..g medicene, law, etc)then good for you.

Im doing PPE at the University of East Anglia. It is a very good university, and is one of the best in the country for that particular course. That may or may not be relevent, but thought I would say so anyway. Good luck at whatever university you end up at.

Re: University of Manchester
I've went to Manchester once.
The city centre is nice enough, plenty of nice bars, cafes, and it's good for shopping and stuff.
It's all been redone due to the commonwealth games being held there.
I've never heard anyone say bad things about Manchester. But then I don't know a huge amount of people who've been there.
I was reading the world's top 50 best universities in the Independant a while back, it came in the top 50, third out of all the UK universities only Oxford and Cambridge beat it.

Re: University of Manchester
Manchester is in the north.
Northern people have bad accents.
BAD ACCENTS
Northern people are constantly trying to move south
Northern people are industrial labourers
Northern people are sometimes considered the scum of the UK
BUT
Northern women are easy
Northern people are less uptight and more fun than southern people
Northern people are a good laugh
Also:
I've had a little too much alchol and magical weed.
I;m happy.
You should be happy
Oh and manchester uni is a great uni. Great town and fun cubs. lots of fit women. LOTS

If by "in the north" you mean "ever so slightly higher than the middle", then yes. Otherwise, no.

Some of the most irritating accents in the country are found in the South. (And I've never thought that any "northern" accent was irritating.)

That must be why the North has such a tiny population.

Indeed, because no industrial labour has ever taken place in London.

I live in Hull and I consider it to be the bottom of the north. Infact anything below the humber couldn't really be considered as north.

no, you're getting confused with 'each and every other northish accent'. scouse is the one that probably merits ethnic cleansing.

Re: University of Manchester
ah, slightly south of me then...
sorry, maybe i should have phrased my statement differently. further to it not mattering to me what northerners consider 'the north' to be, it doesnt matter to me what any of you consider 'the north' to be.
hope that clears things up.
