I got a f*cking ticket today...
I got a speeding ticket today for going 10-14 miles per hour over the speed limit, it's gonna cost me $173 to get it paid. What a freaking waste of money, cops are such dicks in certain situations. I am not a speeder and generally drive the speed limit or 5 miles over it, but today I was late for work and the one day I speed a damn cop gets me.
How much are traffic tickets in England?Europe?

Re: I got a f*cking ticket today...
60 quid or so, but you also get 3 points on your driver's license.
But you're actually allowed to go 10% + 2 mph over the limit, I believe

That's more to account for any discrepancies between your speedometer, and the police speed measuring device, so you can't turn round and say "but my speedo said I was only doing 69"

Re: I got a f*cking ticket today...
We have some utterly gay points system which I haven't bothered learning about in Ireland. Apparently it works pretty well in terms of a decrease in the number of deaths. Of course I'm not a utilitarian so it doesn't really bother me no matter how many people if it means I get to work quicker

Re: I got a f*cking ticket today...
we have speed cameras. They are ridiculously annoying and a vast number of them are unnecessary.
The unnecessary ones end up causing accidents because people will brake hard just to avoid getting caught.

Re: I got a f*cking ticket today...
stop whining ffs
try living in a country where the state thinks its perfectly acceptable to slap state of the art cameras EVERYWHERE from country roads to motorway bridges regardless of whether theyre needed or not..
cameras in towns. fair enough.
cameras near schools etc. fine. infact id like more
but cameras on highways/dual carriageways/fast roads OR those sneaky ones just after roadworks change the speed to 50.....ARE NOT NEEDED.
****ing government revenue makers.
plus
you dont get 3 poitns on your license do you?

Re: I got a f*cking ticket today...
well, i've estimated that i in general drive 'bout 15 to 20 km/h too hard where 50 km is allowed, where 80 is allowed i drive 100, where 120 is allowed i usually drive 140
where 30 is allowed i go 50
i dunno .. but otherwise it just seem to go sooooooooooo slow

Re: I got a f*cking ticket today...
innerhalb geschlossener Ortschaften (gilt auch für 30 km-Zone !)
bis 10 km/h 15,- EUR
11-15 km/h 25,- EUR
16-20 km/h 35,- EUR
21-25 km/h 50,- EUR, 1 Punkt
26-30 km/h 60,- EUR, 3 Punkte
31-40 km/h 100,- EUR, 3 Punkte, 1 Monat Fahrverbot
41-50 km/h 125,- EUR, 4 Punkte, 1 Monat Fahrverbot
51-60 km/h 175,- EUR, 4 Punkte, 2 Monate Fahrverbot
61-70 km/h 300,- EUR, 4 Punkte, 3 Monate Fahrverbot
über 70 km/h 425,- EUR, 4 Punkte, 3 Monate Fahrverbot
außerhalb geschlossener Ortschaften (z.B. Landstraße, Autobahn)
bis 10 km/h 10,- EUR
11-15 km/h 20,- EUR
16-20 km/h 30,- EUR
21-25 km/h 40,- EUR, 1 Punkt
26-30 km/h 50,- EUR, 3 Punkte
31-40 km/h 75,- EUR, 3 Punkte
41-50 km/h 100,- EUR, 3 Punkte, 1 Monat Fahrverbot
51-60 km/h 150,- EUR, 4 Punkte, 1 Monat Fahrverbot
61-70 km/h 275,- EUR, 4 Punkte, 2 Monate Fahrverbot
über 70 km/h 375,- EUR, 4 Punkte, 3 Monate Fahrverbot
i dont want to replace all the words, so first half is for within cities, 2nd half outside. km/h and EUR should be clear. Punkte means points (we also have some point-system, if you collect 12 points you lose your drivers license or something). Monate means month you are not allowed to drive.

I think if you get caught doing 60 mph in a 30 mph zone it`s an automatic disqualification.
I got caught two years a go doing 52 mph in a 30 mph zone, and they considered disqualification. In the end I got a £175 fine and six points on my licence, but there again a ride a fast motorcycle and I am a speed freak.

Re: I got a f*cking ticket today...
I occasionally go over the limit, not by much though.
Ok ok, I did (before Sunday jumps in with "I thought you were banned").
In Jersey I think if you're caught going anything from 1-10mph over the speed limit they give you a caution, as long as you're not arsey with them. Anything more though, and you get a fine. Seeing as the fastest you can go anywhere on the island is 40mph, it's an understandable rule.

Road deaths are actually up since the points system was introduced in Ireland. But those deaths are more to do with drink/drug driving
