Football Manager 2005
Five pre-season friendlies,
Huddersfield 0 - 4 Newcastle
Ilysiakos 1 - 3 Newcastle
Xanthi 0 - 2 Newcastle
Olympiakos 2 - 1 Newcastle
Panathinaikos v Newcastle in two days time.
So, you all know how shit I am when it comes to football, in that I know bugger all about the game other than the names of players who frequent the back pages of tabloid newspapers and the magistrates courts of England.
Current squad:
Shearer and Kluivert up front.
Bellamy center, forward midfield
Robert, McClen and Jenas in midfield
Elliot, Butt, O'Brien and Carr Defence
Given in goal (obviously)
Bramble injured (hence why O'Brien is playing...)
So.
Suggestions for purchases / tactics / changes etc.
In simple non football minded terms please, so if you want to describe some currently used blisteringly good war winning tactic, draw me a picture.
Ta.

As far as i can remember, save and restart is your best tactic.

Re: Football Manager 2005
Have Costinha for a "Makelele" role. Around £3.5m.
Have Lilian Thuram as a defender than Nicky Butt. Around £2m.
Tactics? 4 - 1 - 3 - 1. Picture? I haven't got the game now but mspainted it...
Worked for me for a season (done a cleansweep bar the League (Carling) Cup)... until the other teams figured it out.
P.S. I selected Arsenal.

Re: Football Manager 2005
Ive played the CM/FM series since it came out around 92/93 something. Hell, I even played it on the Amiga 500 I had back then.
So is it just me, or is FM2005 really difficult and buggy as hell?

An average of 6 goals to the good per game tells me it's just you.

Re: Football Manager 2005
Anyone of a world-class goalie? Im playing Arsenal, and all my scouts cant find one goalie in the game (expect for Casilias and Buffon who cost LOADS) who is supposedly good enough for me

Ochoa* (plays for some Mexican team) is good, but he's 18 or so. You'll need a year or two before you want to put him in a decent side. As Manyoo second season I've got Cech in - Chelsea bought Casillas for god knows what from Madrid, I sold Howard to Madrid and bought Cech (at that point the best reserve goalkeeper in the world) at a profit.

Did they ever release some form of fix to stop superior sides totally dominating matches? I recently played Chelsea in the Super Cup, winning 3-0, with around twenty shots on target to their one. It's a nice result, but slightly compromising my suspension of disbelief.
*Take anything I say with a pinch of salt as my brother may have fiddled the stats a bit on my version.

Re: Football Manager 2005
Any advice for a mid-table Aldershot mid-season ? I could really do with a young centre back.

Lescott or Okrowonkwo. Both should be at Wovles.
