See, you're armoured, and you're meant to have a pulse rifle, which you are indeed trained to use. Technical Ops are trained to be able to shoot stuff just as well as the standard trooper can. Marine training doesn't take into account that you get the occasional person who, for reasons known only to himself, decides to forgo his standard issue weapon in favour of a lighter one.

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

ooc/ and because of the extra training, it would be common sense to protect the extra investments made by the marines to train me to use this computer as well. Oh and the reason I picked the pistol is because of the laptop, this way, I can quickly grab the laptop under 1 arm and still return (some) fire with the pistol. Otherwise I would have had to return fire with the pulse rifle while trying to stuff my laptop into my backpack and get the backpack on

Either way, could ya get me a DM so I can get up those stairs and meet the other guys at the 2nd underground level? /ooc

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

Darkling
The soft, powdery snow absorbs much of the force from the short fall, and allowing your knees to bend on impact naturally absorbs the rest. The wind seems a little less strong that it was before - possibly the storm is moving on for now. There'd be another one in by the end of the day, if indeed it was. With your pule rifle still shouldered, you check the enemy troopers' uniforms for rank insignia. You see a shield with a biohazard symbol on it, the shield blue, the symbol white, and the leaves of the United Nations' emblem stretching around the banner, the leaves in white. A stylised scroll beneath the actual pattern of the badge read "9th Special Operations". Biological Warfare Division commandos. But why would Bio Division troops have sabotaged the coms and then tried to kill you? A sudden, stronger gust of wind remins you of just how cold it is out here - and visisbility's low too. Your instinct is to get back inside the Marine Barracks before you freeze to death - or more Bio Marines show up. And, of course, to report the happenins to Captain Yoshikawa.

Crazy
Staying cool, you snatch off two three-round bursts which kill both of the creaturs instantly; they literally ezplode in a shower of yellow goo. At almost precisely this moment, you hear a man's screams coming up the corridor from behind you - coming toward you, coming closer. As the source of the screaming does get closer, his terrified shouting becomes intelligible.

"Help! Help! They're after me-ARGH!" Turning, you see the man's body sliding across the steel floor toward you, having pitched forward at a run. There are two large holes in his back - pulse rifle rounds, again. And it doesn't take long to figure out where they came from. Up ahead, with the aid of thermal imaging, you can just make our figures wearing Marine-issue armour. At precisely this second, you notice red dots from lasers sights - two of them - moving across the walls next to you. You hear a shout from up ahead - distorted, you recognise the effect easily, it's a man speaking through the external speakers of a gas mask.

"You! Soldier! Identify yourself!" Demands the voice. It doesn't sound like the voice of anyone from your Battalion...

PK
As you roll to one side, a pulse round detonates literally centimetres away from your face, and you feel a sharp pain as a fragment of the round's casing scores a scratch on your cheek. You tear the pulse pistol from its holster and squeeze of several rounds at the figure. Two of them rip holes in the figure's chest, while the third hits him square in the face, throwing his head back to an extreme angle in a spray of blood. The figure falls to the floor, dead. You retrieve your pulse rifle. All is silent, but then the skinsuited figure had made next to no noise while moving...

Inspectre
Your pulse rifle blazes merrily, and the unnoccupied creature is torn to pieces by a hail of exploding bullets. Your stream of fire also catches its companion, which is killed just as easily. These things had vicious claws on them, but apparently they weren't too tough when matched against bullets. Henley and Scarez are both in combat stances now, pulse rifles aimed at the open doorway, and Scarez has flattened himself against a wall. They appear to be awaiting your orders.

Dunin
It all happens pretty quickly. Suddenly throwing yourself forward out of the shadows, you pull on the full auto trigger of your assault shotgun. The weapon roars in your ears, and you see the glass pane in front of you fracture as the two Marines whirl around in surprise. The spread from the second cartridge shatters the glass completely, and as the tremendous recoil from the powerful gun punctuates each discharged round at your shoulder, you see the two enemy Marines writhing before you as they are literally ripped apart by shotgun pellets - even at this range, the spread on full auto was such that the first round probably wouldn't have killed them. You are awoken from this kind of semi-trance by the sound of the last cartridge's empty shell hitting the floor and rolling to a stop. You're out of ammo, but the two Marines are very much dead. An expanding pool of crimson spreads slowly across the floor of the equipment room. The door to the ouside is still open - but if there's people on the other side, and if they heard the firing, they aren't doing anything about it. Silence.

Flapjack
Incidentally, as I think I already told you once, Technical Ops rank equivelant to Corporal, not 2nd Lieutenant.

You start up the stairs, and attempt to com through to the rest of the battalion again. No response. Looking at a plaque on the wall, you see that you are currently on level 4 underground. As you ascend the staircase, you turn a corner on the steps and run face to face with another creature - but this one is different. About the size of a dog, the creature is red and looks like some kind of insect. It has its back to you, and appears engrossed in devouring the corpse of a scientist, an expression of pure terror frozen on his pale features. You can just about make out the name "Dr Mortley" on the man's bloodstained ID badge. The creature hasn't noticed you yet. Horrified, you watch as more red creatures - these different from the other, being as they are the same size as the yellow creature you just killed, but shaped differently, with six legs like the other red one and no sharp, sword like appendages, but equally powerful jaws - begin tearing flesh from the scientist's corpse and carrying it away up the steps...

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

There's no access from the roof, which you have at any rate just jumped down from. You're now standing next to the same wall that you walked alongside in order to get to the ladder from which you climbed up onto the roof. The front door to the Marine Barracks is to your right and around a corner.

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

ooc - thanks makes it little easier to place myself without being to vague.

Finding little of use on the bodies the wind starting to whip itself up again, feeling the chill bite straight to his very bones. Barly being able to see much in front of himself with the lack of infrared googles, pulling the hood of the cold weather coat over his head a little more.

Deciding its best to get out of the cold rather than freeze to death, there being little that could be done to repair the relay. All that remianed was to find out what was going on, trudging his way through the layer of snow to round the corner. Coming upon the door to enter the barracks, first quickly giving his rifle one final check, hoping the cold had not effected the firing mechanism to badly.

Opening in the door from the side oppersite its hindges, pressing against the wall as the was forced open as the wind pushed against its heavy mass. Gripping the now cold pulse rifle closely, Lewis swinging his body around. Looking into the depths of the doors entrance way moving the rifle in a similair sweeping pattern from before as he enters, his body starting to shake down to its core from the severe chill taking hold.

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

Cali blinks once. Then a brief tremble goes through her body as she realises what she's done. A lot of noise, and a gun with no ammo left. She quickle seeks cover behind the wall beside the former window. She's in a hurry and only bothers to load grenade into the launcher before she checks the room by swiftly bobbing her head out of the window. No one. She jumps out and crouches by the fallen marines, her shotgun and attention focused on the open door. The weapon may be out of shells, but the enemy doesn't necessarily know that. And she does have the launcher.
Quickly she checks the bodies: Their badges, their ID's (if any), their armament and ammo. She loots a bayonett, a pistol (if any) and two clips to it (again, if any) and any HE grenades. Before her hand comes up to the side of her gasmask to activate her radio, she checks to see what condition their helmets are in. Are their radios still working? She could try them in that case to see if anyone would answer on their set frequency.

"Corporal Roxborough to HQ, Roxborough to HQ. Over, " she calls into her own radio. If answered, she gives all details about what has transpired and what she has found out. She'll do whatever ordered to do.
If no one answers she proceeds to slowly and cautiously advance towards and the open door and swiftly look out to assess the situation.

Anyway, she reloads her shotgun again.

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

Crazy watched as the body of the technician (I assume it as, as scientists probably wouldn't be down at this level, and you didn't say anything about him being a marine and whatnot) slides to a halt inches from him, blood already starting to pool on the floor. Time seemed to slow down, as memories of past battles fiooded into Crazy's minds. Battles where helpless men were gunned down, for the fun of it, for the sake of it. Anger started to push the memories out. Anger filled Crazy. His grip on his Assault rifle tightened, to the point where his knuckles started to turn white. No one would shoot an unarmed man in the back and get away with it. Not on Crazy's watch. And especially not if they were invading his base. He looked up anger and hatred filled his eyes.

"Who am I? I'm your worst nightmare you muth****ing biatchfaced bastard."

Crazy brought his rifle up, and at the same time clicked it onto single shot. He looked down the sights as the rifle rose, the legs of the first marine linging up on the end of the sights. The gun jerked as a round sped out of the barrel. The gun continued to rise, time continued on its slow path. The stomche of the marine appeared next and again the gun jerked as a second bullet was spat out. The gun then swung to the second marine. As soon as part of his torso was lined up in the sights, a third shot rung out, followed by a forth.

Alexander grabed his helmet and turned on his thermal imaging.he checked his back pack to make sure he had everything he would need. When he was sure had everything he went over to the coat rack near the living quarters exit. He grabbed a coat and had it buckeled on. As he started to jog down the corridor while slinging his back pack over his shoulder.

Fortunatly, your post had been between shift transfers when the lights went out - you yourself just about to leave the Marine Barracks, unarmed as the Heavy Marines assigned to guard duty almost always were, armour being too cumbersome and your heavy weaponry being impossible to lift without heavy armour. Naturally, once reports of attackers started coming in, you'd been ordered to fully load-out. Hopefully you'd get to shoot something pretty soon. Your thermal imaging is on, and you can see the corridor clearly despite the lights being out. You'd been able to ride the elevator down, since the technicians had got the auxilliary generators that powered them on the first underground floor working fine, even if the technicians on this floor hadn't. Apart from your heavy footsteps, the corridor is silent. You can see the double door leading inward to the Canteen up ahead, you push through the door and start down the corridor ahead, toward the door that opens directly into the Canteen. Halfway down this new corridor, you pause. Dark red blood coats both walls of the corridor at one point, as well as an irregular patch of the tiled floor. Trouble. Odd trouble though; anything losing that much blood was almost certainly dead, and there was no body in sight...focusing on the double doors up ahead, you see blood stains on the push bar that opens it...
Trouble... I love trouble...

Wraith hefted his Minigun up a little higher, stalking towards the door in his usual stealthy manner. His pace quickened, along with his pulse, as he approached the door. Although he had barely been assigned to this backwater lump of rock for a couple of days, already the boredom has set in like a plague. He clicked his minigun into overdrive, smiling slightly as the comforting purr of the barrels rose to a crescendo.

"Showtime..." He muttered under his breath as he accelerated still further towards the doors, the noise of the barrels accompanied by the mechanical whirrings and ominous stomps of his Cybernetic suit as it carried him towards the door. Without breaking stride, he aimed a kick at the access bar, bursting through the doors and already searching for a target...

I'll be fine on my own, really, but you have to help the others." She was going on about things that you didn't know of again. Of course, she was in a sense correct. She obviously percieved whatever was on the other side of that door as dangerous. She would only get in the way, but then without her you would have no way of telling what you were most likely to encounter. Time to make the choice...as you consider the options, you hear the reply from Lieutenant Riley, the Battalion Coms Operative.

"Hewitt, reinforcements are en-route, you are ordered not to move without them." Says the 2nd Lieutenant, the signal buzzing with static, "I repeat, your orders are to hold position untill the advance squad arrives with Lieutenant Tremaine, then procede inwards under his orders. We're getting reports of all kinds of crazy shit going on, Captain doesn't know what's up, so we're trying to figure everything out before we move the main force. Over and out." Suddenly, you hear a scuttling noise overhead. You briefly remembered in the briefing before coming here that air vents ran through the spaces between the floors. On hearing the sound, Catherine gives a shriek and backs up against the perimeter corridor's outer wall behind you, shining the torch up at the vent opening of the room behind you fearfully.
*Hewitt's eyes float upwards warily at the sounds from above.*

"Roger that command. Please tell them to hurry, I'm hearing funny things in the air vents and I've got a really bad feeling about all this. Keep me posted, over and out."

*Hewitt turns to look at where Catherine is pointing the torch then back at the terrified Catherine and puts two and two together. Oh he has a bad feeling alright...*

"I take it I'm not gonna like whatever comes outta that air vent am I?"

*Hewitt walks over to Catherine.*

"Back up's on it's way. When they get here we can make our way to the upper levels until then... it will be safer if we stick together."

*Grabbing his pulse rifle in one hand, Hewitt unslings his lighter assault shotgun and hands it over to Catherine.*

"You might need this."

*Remmon almost dropped down the stairs as he backed around the corner and out of sight of the creatures while he considered his options, the 12 round clip of his pistol was already half empty and wasting his ammo wouldn't get him anywhere now. The creatures, so he continued thinking, where probably no heavier armored then the thing he shot earlier, which ment a single pulse round should be quite capable of killing 1 of them*

*About at that point Remmon's left hand dropped to the side of his belt and tapped against 1 of the frag/HE grenades on his belt, reminding Remmon to their presence. Thus he quickly slips 1 of the grenades off his belt and arms the 5 second fuse, waiting a full 3 seconds before tossing the 'nade around the corner with 1 arm. Immediatly after the roar of the blast had died down, Remmon rounded the corner, his pistol trained on the area the creatures had occupied several seconds earlier*

Fluffie gave Mathers a quick thumb up, the man had proved to be on top of the game with an added and apparantly quite sharp edge. In a semi-crouched position, his SMG in front of him, Fluffie swiftly advances towards the door, deeming it logical in his mind that Mathers would follow and cover him. The man was after all a Marine too and that meant he'd have had the same extensive training Fluffie had received in boot camp.

Unit Gamma...

The words quickly ran through his mind again, alarming him to some extent. That meant there were most likely at least six Units. And if this was to become a full scale invasion, there could be more, which could lead to some quite serious exchanges of fire on this stupid and cold planet.

Having approached the doorway, Fluffie stopped for a second and saw his daughter and wife again. Stopping himself from expressing his anger in a roar as he jumped sidewards through the doorway, he let the SMG do the talking as soon as he got sight of intruder. Hitting the floor and sliding to a stop, he quickly let his eyes check the rest of the room, checking for more hostile Marines.

*PK turned all his senses to full, peering out into the green-white gloom created by his thermal imaging visor. There wa probably more out there somewhere, and he knew exactly where to start looking. He moved carefully over to the entry ramp to frieghter, then ducked inside. It would offer some cover, light and he could shut the ramp if things got too hot, until reinforcements could arrive... if they actually got his message.*

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

After the roar of the pulse rifle, all that is heard is stiffling silence. The next sound heard is the now-empty pulse rifle clip hitting the ground as Jake ejects it, and reaches down to his belt to draw a new one. "B*tches." He says simply, slapping home the fresh clip. "Alright boys, looks like we're goign to have to fight our way through . . . these freaks . . . to get to the other side. I don't know where those two things came from, and I don't care, but I do know three things: one, there's probably more of them, two, they're easy to kill, and three, they sure as hell ain't going to kill any more of us motherf***ing marines!! Now, Scarez, I want you to carefully move over to O'Heinly's body, check to see if he's still alive. If he isn't, get his ammo clips and MP10, and then help the Sergenant and I clear the next room. Understood? Good. Now Sergeant, while Scarez is doing that, why don't you and I give him some cover." Jake then changes position from the rear of the squad towards the front, cautiously move to the side of the door opposite Henley, and then peering in, pulse rifle first. Assuming the next room is, for the moment, clear, Jake then turns and check down the hallway that they had already come, activating his thermal vision, if necessary, to see into the dark corners. Meanwhile, Private Scarez hopefully hasn't freaked out by now, and is effectively checking and stripping O'Sullivan's body.

DMing begins for the day - December 21st, 2004
The Marines of the 45th Battalion are under attack from all sides. On the surface and below ground, heavily armed Marines seemingly intent on killing any base personnel they encounter have attacked, and they are apparently troops of the Bological Warfare Division - whose troops pulled out from the base just a few days before the 45th arrived. Also in the dark, shadowy corridors of the underground levels of the base lurk mysterious Covert Operations personnel, apparently with the same objectives as the Biological Warfare Division Marines - death for all that encounter them. Meanwhile, Marines and base personnel in the underground levels, cut off from HQ in the Marine Barracks and with no working communications, find themselves under attack by deadly, outlandish creatures, the like of which none who encounter them have ever seen before. The screams of the dying echo through the corridors of the Novagorsk Installation. But where did these creatures come from, and why has the Bio Division turned on the Marines guarding the base...

Darkling
You open the narrow steel door into the Marine Barracks. Inside is an airlock of sorts, with the opposite door closed tight - the lights for the Marine Barracks are apparently on, and you see noone inside the chasmber. Regardless, you didn't know what to expect after today, and swept your rifle back and forth over the zone a few times before entering. The door slammed shut behind you - the ringing fading from your ears just as you hear a voice over your helmet radio.

"Corporal Morgan, sir, that you in there?" Asks the voice, evidently from the other side of the door in front of you, though you can't hear that through the speakers in your helmet. You dimly recognise the voice as that of one of the Battalion's Heavy Marines. You're already beginning to feel warmer, the heating for the Barracks is apparently working fine.

Dunin
You loot a sword bayonet from one of the two men. Neither of them, unfortunatly, have pistols, but you do also loot two HE grenades. Both have perfectly good pulse rifles which you could also take - though that would perhaps weight you down a little; the assault shotgun wasn't exactly light. You check the unit insignia on the upper arms of their uniforms - you notice Arctic camouflage - and they reveal themselves as the UN Marine Corps 107th Light Ranger Battalion. Rangers were the elite of the Light Marines; used as a kind of forward assault force, sometimes even for special forces operations. Presently, you are hit by a stroke of genius, and wrenching the radio mechanism out of one of the dead Marine's helmets, you punch in the frequency that your own Battalion operates on. The enemy Marines are Light Marines - that much was evident from their bayonets - and so they should have boosted personal communicators. You send a hail directed at HQ, and, within seconds...

"Corporal, this is HQ, what's up? Over." Replies the voice of 2nd Lieutenant Riley, the Battalion Coms Operative. Relief floods over you; you weren't totally cut off. Scanning the door with your shotgun - empty - you see no other enemy troops lurking about the oher side. Satisfied that you're secure for the moment, you begin slotting fresh cartridges into your shotgun's loading arm.

Crazy
Cold, dark anger fills your mind as you watch the helpless technician gunned down from behind by the Marines pursuing him, anger born from memories of battles gone by where you'd watched friends and comrades die in a similar fashion. Shouting a taunt, you raise your pulse rifle, flicking it over to semi automatic fire, and begin squeezing off shots as you seek the enemy Marines out down your gunsights. You bring the muzzle of the gun up across the man's front, firing two shots, one at his legs and one at his chest. He strafes to the left, heading back behind the doorway up ahead, and your shot to the legs goes wide. Your shot to the stomach, however, catches him on the side, spinning him round and out of sight beyond the corner with a cry - the shot had clipped him, and he probably wouldn't be wounded badly at all if he'd been wearing armour. Switching your aim to the chest of the second Marine, you fire two shots, one of which catches him square in the chest, knocking him onto his back. He lands, but must have been armoured, because he rolls over, pushes himself up to one knee, levels his own pulse rifle and opens fire on three round burst. Ricochets whine off the Duracrete doorway to your right, flecks of the grey composite bouncing onto the floor. Better find cover...

Mao
You waste no time as you check your equipment, grab a Winter coat and, still heading for the exit, buckle it on. Instead of going for the main airlock-style entrance at the front, you decide to head left down a seldom-used corridor toward the west side entrance. Up a flight of Duracrete steps, you open a door, and two Marines in winter coats turn from guard positions, spot you, and get back to scanning the snow. You'd heard that there'd been a blizzard topside earlier, but it had apparently died down - the air was as clear as it ever got on Novagorsk at the moment - you could see the horizon, and, near to it, three of the towers. The one you wanted was the one in the middle. You try to spot the path that the Bio Marines guarding the base before you had hacked level through the ice toward the towers, and presently spot it. That would be the easiest way - and no risk of falling through a crust of snow into a bottomless chasm.

Bakan
Running back into the room, everbody seems fine, the scream appearing to have originated from the Floor Manager's secretary, a pretty young woman, who is currently looking rather flustered. Seeing you checking the room, she speaks.

"It's okay," She says, "I'm fine, really, I just lost it when the lights went out." Suddenly, a blood curdling shriek sounding like nothing you have ever heard before echoes down the corridor you just came back from - it sounded distant, though. You weren't going to be able to do any good without your equipment from the Armoury on the first underground level..

Wraith
Minigun already rotating at ful speed, you kick the doors into the Canteen open. A scene from hell greets you. The room is lit by dim emergency lighting - you can see a hydrogen cell generator humming contentedly in the middle of the room, as well as a dead technician with a look of utter horror on her face slumped against it, clearly dead - thought in places the emergency light strips aorund the edge of the cieling have been smashed, or are flickering on and off erratically. Blood stains dot the floor, and bloody handprints on the walls indicate desparate attempts to escape traps. And there are...things, red things, scurrying about the floor. You can see what appears to be a pile of corpses in the centre of the room. The red creatures, which are insect-like in appearance, appear to have dragged them there, as long blood stains running right the way across the floor of the room toward the pile would indicate. There are very large red creatures prowling the room, seemingly aimlessly, about the size of dogs with powerful-looking mandibles at their fronts, and viciously sharp front limbs, some of which are stained with blood. Smaller red creatures, about the size of a man's hand outstretched, are scurrying back and forth from the pile of corpses in the centre and the double doors on the wall opposite you, which are open, stripping flesh from the corpses and then carrying with them, out of sight into the corridor beyond. As you watch, one of the larger creatures spots you. It scutters forwards and emits a series of piercing shrieks. The other large creatures turn to face you - the smaller ones apparently ignore you, continuing about their macabre task. Presently, one of the larger creatures begins running toward you at incredible speed, and the others follow. There are six in all...

Hewitt
You explain to Catherine what's going on, apparently trying to reassure her, and then, taking your light assault shotgun from its strap, hand it to her. Looking at it apprehensively, she doesn't seem prepared for how heavy it is, and drops it on the floor, leaping backwards and flattening herself against the wall with a shriek. The automatic shotgun falls to the floor and fires, sending shotgun pellets bouncing off the wall of the corridor you were standing guard in a few minutes before. Catherine looks at you uncertainly.

"Sorry?" She says, sounding a bit shaken. Suddenly, another rattle in the air vent reminds her of the unseen object of her fear. Suddenly, you hear a sharp series of clangs from the vent opening, and it is thrown out of the vent, buckled in several places. A small purple creature about the size of a man's hand outstretched leaps from the vent opening, landing on the reception desk. It spots you and Catherine almost instantly, and emits a piercing shirek. You see two wicked-looking sword-like claws on its front legs, and its back legs look powerful. It raises itself on its back legs, apparently ready to jump at you, jaws working in and out, but makes no move, apparently content to watch you for now...

Flapjack
Thinking fast, you thumb the pin from an HE grenade and, after three seconds, toss it up at the creatures from behind the doorway, returning back into cover just in time for the roar of the ensuing explosion. Fragments of shrapnel and Duracrete bounce round the doorway. Pulse pistol ready, you round the corner, but only body parts and a scorched section of wall await you. The smaller red creatures are now scurrying en-masse back up the stairs - you can go that way if you really want, of course...

Fluffie
Mathers gives no sign of acknowledgement to your thumbs-up, he appears too concentrated on the doorway, though you can tell he saw it. You step quickly toward the doorway, creeping in a way taught to you at the Light Marine Advance Training Course - given only to Light Marines - so that even while wearing your combat boots your footsteps make no sound. Without you telling him, Mathers sidesteps smoothly down the stairs, keeping his pulse rifle covering the door, and takes up position to your right, his pulse rifle's muzzle hovering over your shoulder. You step forward, fully in the knowledge that stepping around this door could kill you, and abruptly your wife and daughter appear in your mind. They would see you there next Christmas. Anger clouding your mind, you leapt around the door, Mp10 already up and pointing to the right. You see the remaining Marine crouching behind an upturned bunk - your upturned bunk - pulse rifle tracking you. Fortunatly, you go out of sight behind row of kitchen area counter, sliding across the tiled floor before coming to a halt. You hear a burst of gunfire, and see pulse rifle rounds exploding on the tiled kitcken-area wall behind you, and then, suddenly, the miniature mircowave is sparking with a gaping hole where the control pannel used to be. You hear another bout of swearing when the man realises you're out of sight behind the counters...

PK
You wake up out of the semi-trance of combat, where training and experience and reflex take over half the responsibility of your body from conscious thought. Deciding to search out and destroy any other Cover Operatives lurking inside the freighrer, you step up the loading ramp into its cargo bay, pulse rifle ready. Nothing inside - the dim red lights don't interfere at all with your thermal imaging, which is good. Stacked crates in the freighter appear to be outbound - they are all stamped either with "UN BIOLOGICAL WARFARE RESEARCH FACILITY" or "UN HIGH-ENERGY PHYSICS LABORATORY". So that was what they researched in this place. The freighter was a small one, and you could see the opposite wall of the hold on entry. Noone inside. Abruptly, you notice that the deck panel covering the ship's main drives - immediately below the cargo bay - has been removed. You can see part of the engine through it. And you can also see something flashing, Something rectangular...a C4 charge!

Inspectre
Wordlessly, both men comply with your orders, Sergeant Henley leaning out of the doorway to sweep his pulse rifle up and down the right side of the corridor before whispering the word "Clear." - and then sidecreeping out from behind the door, silently, to drop to one knee, hoosting the accuracy of any firing to be done. He pauses for a moment to activiate his thermal imaging, which turns on with a high pitched whining noise that gradually increases in pitch untill it is outside the range of human hearing. It is dark in the corridor, and so you put on your own thermal imaging as well. Scarez, presently, looking just a little freaked out, has taken O'Sullivan's Mp10 and ammunition. You briefly scan your pulse rifle over the corridor you just came out from - still empty - and decide that shutting the door behind you might be a good idea. There was a number lock pad on this side of the door as well, so you'd be able to get back out again. Better get a move on though, you were supposed to be reinforcing someone after all, and with these creatures about he'd probably be dead before you got there soon.

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

*Hearing the scream, Incom's thoughts flashed back to that horrific day onboard the cruiser Freestrike. Being only a drafted grunt for some war, he had not been the ideal soldier, however he did serve with only a moderate amount of doing that crazy thinking thing and talking-back to. Several higher-ups had commented that he had potential to be great soldier if only he would straighten up. But on that day on the cruiser, they had run afoul of pirates. The pirates, commanding smaller, older corvettes were desperate to escape, so desperate that one of their ships, critically damaged, attempted to ram into the Freestrike The Freestrike managed to destroy the corvette, as Incom saw as he assisted a damage control team near a outer-viewport, but due to the close range, debris was sent flying into the Freestrike. Incom only remember flashes afterwards, the screaming, the pain, the warm sticky feel of torn flesh as he clutched the stump of his arm. But hearing that scream from down below made Incom remember those minutes clearly. Looking over at the secretary, Incom nodded to her.*

"Stay here Miss, once I leave, secure the doors and wait for security personal."

*Leaving the small office, Incom sprinted towards the armory.*

*PK saw the explosive, swore again (somthing he'd been doing a lot of today, and was likely to continue doing), then turned to leg it. He made for the hangar he'd just come from, hoping that the frieghter's fuel tank wouldn't go up, else there would be a large hole in the base, and bits of him scattered all over it.He sprinted through the door, slammed a fist on the door lock button, then kept running away from the bomb.*

Savouring the warmth for the moment, after being outside for so long it felt good, throwing back the coats hood but opting to keep it on untill lewis was certain thigsn where clear. Hearing the voice come the door ahead of him, somewhat recalling the owners face though unable to put a name to it right now.
"Yer its me"
Calling back lowering his pulse rifle just a little so it could be sprung up qiuckly if needed, after being shot of gaurd already. There was not going to be the chance for a second time if he could help it.
"Open the door up will you I dont fancy going back outside its damn cold, nor do I fancy standing around in this airlock all day"
Trying to sound lighthearted about it as possible, trying not to raise any suspicion untill he was certain.

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

It was a good thing that Fluffie never had been too fond of his bunk in Tower D. It was also a good thing he knew for certain his bunk wouldn't be stopping any bullets, especially those from his fast firing Mp10. It seemed like a not so good thing that his opponent would probably realise the same thing: bullets versus bed didn't equal to the amount of fun as bullets versus counter did. With a slim smile on his face, Fluffie got up into a crouched position again, making sure to keep it behind his cover.

Three...

The SMG was in front of him again, now still aimed away from where he hoped his target would still be. Fluffie slightly changed his position, making as little sound as possible while he adjusted the direction in which the barrel of his firearm was pointing.

Two...

For a split second, Fluffie realised he really felt like lighting a cigeratte. First things first though and first, there was someone to kill. Maybe then, maybe after he had killed their entire Unit, Squad, Platoon, Regiment, whatever, he didn't care. This was the moment, that was for later.

One...

Silent and swiftly, Fluffie got up from his crouched position, standing behind the counter. He started firing at the bed in bursts, hitting enough of it to make sure if there was anyone behind it, they'd feel the bite of fast bullets tearing through them. As he did so, he quickly looked at the rest of the room, making sure he wasn't firing at the wrong spot...

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

Crazy jumped to his right, firing off a few more bursts, as he flew through the doorway, back into the generator room, his shoots not really aimed, but just fired off more to cover his dive. He landed with a thud, and skidded across the floor. As soon as he stopped, he grabbed the incenidiary grenade from its holder on his chest and slipped into the underslung grenade launcher attached to his assault rifle. He flicked the launcher onto 'timer', and aimed at the doorway, so the grenade would bounce around the corner, towards the two enemy marines.

"Burn in hell you bastards"

The grenade shot out of the launcher and bounced down the corridor... (while Crazy dropped the clip from his assault rifle and loaded a new one in. He also got to his feet and scanned around the generator room for those nasty's he left behind earlier)

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

Bakan
Pirates in corvettes?! Ships called Freestrike?! Not in this universe, good sir! Minor technicalities though.

The secretary nods weakly as you turn to leave, and as you walk away from the Office, you see some of the other staff pushing the double doors shut, and thereafter you hear banging and scraping against the door, which sounds like furniture being stacked up the barricade it shut. You run up the corridor, turn right, pass through a pair of double doors and into the perimeter corridor for the floor you're on. Some of the sounds reaching your ears, echoing through the endless corridors from a distance undetermined, are beginning to freak you out more and more. Screams, more of those shrieks, the occasional, sporadic gunfire. You reach a pair of doors turning outwards from the perimeter corridor; one will lead to a stairwell, the other, double doors will lead to an elevator shaft. You can hear a whirr of machinery from the elevators that would indicate them under power and working, wheras there is blood on the door to the stairwell...

PK
Cursing, you sprint out of the freighter as fast as you can, down the loading ramp, dashing through the open door into your original hangar and slamming the close door button behind you, before locking the door once it was closed. You briefly spare a thought for the fuel tanks - hydrogen, for the fusion reactors - but as the main drives wouldn't be running, you could at least count out a full on fusion explosion. You keep running, away from the door, and, as you do so, the world suddenly ezplodes around you, and everything goes dark.

...

You come to, feeling like you've just been run over by a train. You are lying on your back, and you can see the cieling of the hangar high above you. You feel fine, but sore. Testing your limbs experimentally, nothing appears to be broken. You can hear fires crackling around you, and can see orange light flicketing against the cieling. Feeling across the floor with your right hand, you touch the strap of your pulse rifle. Pulling yourself into an upright, but still seated position, you look around you. Your helmet is lying on the floor some distance away, apparently having been thrown off when you fell. If you did fall. Looking left, you can see a large hole in the wall to the hangar you just came through, and through that you can see a raging inferno consuming the wreckage of the freighter. A few crates in the hangar you are in at the moment are also on fire. As you look through the hole in the wall, there is suddenly another tremendous explosion, and the wall through to the hangar after the one you were just in explodes outwards toward you. A few pieces of steel wall - of considerable size - skitter across the floor toward you. Through this new hole in the wall, you see another burning wreck. Both freighters down. Worse still, with the ringing from your ears fading into the background, you can hear the wind howling through the canyon outside, and it seems a lot louder...

Hewitt
Catherine makes a kind of quiet squeaking noise and nods ever so slightly, her eyes affixed on the purple creature. You let your pulse rifle hang by its strap, though you could easily have blasted the creature away with it, and instead you bring up the heavier assault shotgun. You bear the muzzle at the creature. The creature continues watching you, it hasn't moved...

Darkling
You answer your unseen interrogator, and a few seconds later the door in front of you slides open. You see a Heavy Marine, ranking private, in full armour and with his pulse minigun levelled at the foor staring back at you.

"Sorry for the wait, sir," He says, not over the radio this time, "but one of the towers sent in a report of enemy troops attacking, and Captain Yoshikawa told us to seal off the entrances for fear of enemy infiltration. The Barracks is pretty much locked down, sir, so you can breathe easy inside here. You should go report in to the Captain." With that, he steps to one side, allowing you space to pass by him, and raises the muzzle of the minigun up. "Could you move through, please, sir? I'm meant to keep the door shut as much as possible, to conserve heat." He says.

Fluffie
You perform a slow mental countdown as you prepare to reurn fire. Close quarters combat was messy business - you could die easily. You really needed a cigarette to relax your nerves at times like these - though this was in fact a false sensation created by the addictive properties of nicotine. You reached one, and stood up. Once again, everything seemed to move in slow motion. You could see the other, enemy Light Marine aiming down his rifle at you, bayonet point toward you. You fired repeated bursts into the matress, watching clouds of feathers burst into the air as the bullets pierced the material covering. With a cry of pain, the enemy Marine is thrown backwards from his kneeling position, slumped into the corner behind him, blood leaking from several stomach wounds. He has dropped his pulse rifle. He isn't dead yet, and seems preoccupied with how badly he's bleeding. He puts a hand to the wound and brings it away, staring at the blood covering it as though he can't quite believe what's going on. You can see a look of fear in his eyes - fear and pain.

Crazy
You dive back through the doorway into the generator room, taking an incendiary grenade from your blet and loading it into the underslung launcher of your pulse rifle. Of the purple critters, there is no sign, though the door to the other generator room - which you can see across the vast expanse of floor on the opposite side of the room from you, is now open, and you can hear faint gunfire clattering from within. You jump back into the corridor, scream a probably needless condemnation, and fire the increndiary grenade. It bounces off the wall, skitters across the floor and explodes, filling the corner of the corridor up ahead with flame. Smoke billows up to the cieling of the corridor, flowing outwards toward you. After a few moments, you hear screaming. A mortifying vision unfolds before your eyes as one of the enemy Marines runs from the flames, arms flailing, wrethed by fire and screaming in outright agony.

*Looking at the blood on the stairwell, Incom wished that the damn desk-ob he had allowed him to carry a weapon of some sort. The power outtages as well made Incom wary of the elevator systems, for at the moment he coulden't recall if they operated under their own power or not. Looking at his arm, Incom flexed it out of reflex, and slowely opened the door to the stairwell, raising his left arm to strike at anything that is obviously a enemy, while making his way to an armory.*

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

Noticing the muzzle of the large gun raise, enough insentive to move most people by. Passing the second entrance of the airlock, taking a quick look at the private.
"Carry on then"
Heeding him no more attention as Lewis walked into the barracks fully, not wasting any time to take his coat of yet heads quickly as possible to the captain placing his pulse rifle over his shoulder once more. It seemed safe enough in here and relaxing a little might help his nerves, a strong drink and some rest would help as well. Although he figured it would be a lot more hassle before those could come his way, not that the food and drinks could be considered decent around this place. Starting to sweat a bit underneath the warm coat as Lewis tried to find the captain as quickly as possible, it was more tolerable than sub zero tempratures.

With the 2 extra grenades Cali's score is up on 6 (1free for the launcher, 3 extra equipment and 2 salvaged) and she only bothers to pick up a sword - which she puts in her belt - and the enemy radio. The rifle would just be too much weight, and she likes having the launcher at hand.

"HQ, I've just shot down two Light Marines, rangers from the 107th. They broke into the equipment room. Over," she says.

(I'll let you decide what is said in the conversation, else this will take ages.)

In either case she now begins making her way through the open door and onwards, shotgun scanning her environment.

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

Bakan
You walk through the door to the stairwell and the source of the blood on the door is immediately apparent. A body, wearing a technician's uniform, lies on the ground, slumped against the wall. Its chest is a bloody mess. But, immediately, you realise it's no ordinary corpse. Looking close at the chest, which is a bloody mess, you see something yellow and shiny seemingly embedded in the man's chest. You realise that this thing is coated in carapace. A few moments later, you hear a high pitched screech from your right, and something jumps at you. Turning, you cannot bring your arm down in time. The creature, about the size of a man's hand outstretched and yellow, with its front two limbs practically blades and a pair of powerful-looking jaws, manages to score your biological arm with one of its talons. You feel a sharp pain as skin is rended open, and see blood welling up from the wound. The creature lands on the floor, and begins scampering up the wall, apparently preparing to jump at you again...

Darkling
The private nods through his fully-enclosed heavy armour, and goes back to standing in the middle of the corridor, gun trained on the door in front of him, which he has by now closed. You set off, leaving the bulky winter coat in the store, kept under the watchful eye of the Battalion Quartermaster. This done, you move quickly down various corridors and stairs to the first underground level, where you make your way to the Field HQ. Captain Yoshikawa looks up from an illuminated floorplan of one level of the base as you enter.

"Corporal? You're back? Why isn't the com relay working?" He asks. Evidently, your transmissions back to HQ hadn't got in.

Dunin
After finishing looting the corpse, you radio in to HQ.

"Recieved, Roxborough. I have reported the presence of the 107th Rangers to Tactical," He says, Tactical being the Battalion Intelligence Officer, 2nd Lieutenant Palmerstone. "He wants you to check the badge again, over." You do so, with the same result, and tell the Coms Operative. "Corporal, Tac looks worried. Captain Yoshikawa's orders are to seal off all entrances to the ground floor of the research lab, and from there make your way down to the Armoury on underground 1. You are to guard the armoury untill further notice. If you spot any of our Marines, or any base staff, in need of assistance, you are to assist them in any way you can. Keep that com unit you stole - they seem to be jamming our communications from conventional units somehow. Either that or there's a hell of a lot of us dead. If they attack the armoury, report in. Over."

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

"Got it. Over and out," she replies. She moves over to the bulkhead doors and swiftly types in the code to lock it from the inside. If there is no such code - or she doesn't know it - she simply busts the panel with the sword. The panel to the airlock receives the same treatment.
She turns around and looks about. It is silent. She is calm. Worse had happened - at least to her knowledge. Then she puts the butt of her shotgun to her shoulder and moves over to the door leading to the stairs. If the doors she just sealed are the only ways in, she now begins her travel to the Armoury.

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

Standing rigidly to attention knowing it best not to lack in displine in front of a supirior officer unless you knew them well. Trying his best not wince a little from a general sore body, looking the captain straight on.
"Sir, I am afraid thats impossible somone took a knife to it in a rather barbaric manner. I can repair it but I would need parts from supplies, most of the wires and components need replacing. Though it is fortunate that they did not have any technical skill, otherwise the whole unit might of had to be replaced"

Recalling the insignia foudn on one bodies outside, thinking it might be a good time to raise the point about it.
"Whilst I was survaing the damage to the relay fuse box as well, I overheard two voice coming from the the highest ledge just below the roof. After a brief confrontation, I inspected the bodies to find that they where part of ninth special operations, biological warefare division commandos. Other than that I could gather no more clues from their bodies, and with temprature starting to drop I thought it wise to seek cover"

Hoping to sound convincing enough to hide the fact he was scared, scared of dying and of not knwoing what was going to happen next, scared of wondering if this metal coffin would become his forgotten grave. Gulping once as Lewis stands there awaitng the captains reply eagerly.

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

"Mathers, secure the room and see if there's anything useful."

Fluffie's voice was loud enough for the other to hear in the room, booming with a commanding undertone. The corporal himself kept his SMG aimed at the wounded Marine, making his way back around the counter and approaching him. He kicked the Pulse Rifle away, in a direction where Mathers would easily see it, adding to their reserve of bullets. Continueing with a quick check of the blood covered body to make sure the man wouldn't produce any more dangerous objects, Fluffie grabbed the man's chin, excersising enough pressure to make sure he knew he was serious.

They needed assistance...

"Make it quick and secure our exits."

Not much time had passed since Fluffie had given his earlier orders, but this follow up seemed logical and safer. That done though, he focussed on the wounded Marine again, giving him a serious and slightly annoyed, mean look. Fluffie wasn't happy with this invading force present and he made sure to let the invader know. He took in a short breath and let his eyes gaze over the man's uniform and armour, trying to spot anything he'd recognize. At the same time, he spoke, not so loud as when he had given Mathers his orders, but clearly audible in the room.

"Why the **** are you here?"

You morons aren't going to get out of here alive if you don't start posting more quickly!!!!!!1112

Dunin
Acknowledging the command, you punch in the code to close the door and then lock it. You hear the heavy metal bolts sliding across from the doorframe into the door's interior - it's secure. This done, you move over to the main heavy bulkhead door and lock that from the inside as well. Finally, you start moving toward the doors leading further down into the base. You can either take the elevator - you can hear the mechanism whirring inside the shaft, so it must be active - or you can take the stairs. The door to the stairwell is slightly ajar. For a second, you thought you could just make out a scream coming from below.

Darkling
Captain Yoshikawa looks simultaneously alarmed and concerned once you inform him of the presence of Bio Division Commandos.

"Bio Divsion...taking out our coms relays? But that doesn't make any sense at all..." He says, turning away and staring at the floor, apparently lost in deep thought. After a few moments he comes to, turning back to you. "Well, we can rule out radioing for help. We'd need to order those parts from the Supply Depot on Centralia...we need to find a way off this rock, but in the mean time we need to hole down. We've just ordered the guard on the top floor of the research facility complex to pull back into the lower levels. She'll be long gone by the time you get there, I need you to weld the entrance and exit doors to that building shut. Stop anybody from the surface getting into the corridors. Take anything you need from the Armoury on second underground of this building and then get a move on. Every second we waste, they could be getting ready to breach the things."

Fluffie
Mp10 pointed steadily at the wounded Marine, you sidestep around the edge of the line of counters, past the matress and then kick the man's pulse rifle out of reach, though he was making no attempt to get to it. Mathers figures out your intention without any problems, and strips the loaded clip from the pulse rifle, tucking it into one of his combat webbing pouches. Now holding the enemy Marine's chin, you order Mathers to secure the exits.

"Yessir," He replies, running over to the keypad for the main door, which he codes shut and locked. This done, he move back over to the doorway that the two of you just charged through and, leaning against the wall to the right of it, aims his pulse rifle at the hole in the side of the building made by the grenade detonation. It's getting noticeably colder in here now. You apply firm pressure to the man's chin, trying to look mean, and begin to question him. Gradually, the fear in his eyes ebbs away and is replaced by the cold, hard gleam of anger. You finish your question, and his only reply is to spit blood in your face. You notice a line of red making its way out of the corner of his mouth, he is dieing.

"**** you, Bio Division slave." He mutters, staring defiantly up at you. You can already see the life beginning to fade from his eyes, and his breathing is becoming laboured and erratic.

Saluting and turning about to walk the other dircetion away from the captain, turning one of the corner relaxes as he goes out of sight. running the his new orders through his head, letting of an exasperated sigh and heads down to the armoury on the lower levels with a brisk pase about his steps.Ignoring most of those he passes, a ad feeling shivering tis way down his spine that thigns where going to get worst before they got better.

Fluffie increases the pressure on the man's chin, not at all happy with being called a slave. He took orders, but was no-one's slave, having a conscience and free will of his own. Pushing the cold aside for the moment after having made a mental note of putting on a coat later on, he waited for the dying Marine to answer his question.

"What the **** are you on about."

[Short post, yeah, but nothing much else I can do, eh. Anyhow, what did Mathers manage to salvage? Any warmer clothing than our coats? An extra gas mask? More ammo? A pistol? Stuff? Well? Please?]

Alexander quickly ducked and headed out along the path. He hoped that scince he was ducked he would be harder to hit by anyone trying to shoot at him, but with the path cut into the snow even less was vivable to someone from long range.

Scince it was starting to clear up Alex figured he could probably radio the towers now. "This is lance corpral Yuechenko to anyone in tower c, i repeat anyone in tower c."

Cali quicly storms through the opened door and stops in a crouch. Since there's probably nothing in here she looks over the railing and down the stairway shaft to see what she can see. Following this she quickly begins to descend the stairs, searching for either friend or foe.

Crazy stepped back, out of the way of the burning marine, as he ran past screaming. His eyes narrowed at the screaming man. He could just let him die a firey death. It was as much as he deserved. But Crazy wouldn't stoop to their level. Raising his pulse rifle, Crazy aimed at the marines head and fired. Once he was satisfied that the Marine was dead and no longer in any pain, Crazy then, for the third time, attempted to make his way back towards the higher levels and the barracks to get help/make a report/not get attacked again for a while.

"Oh no."

*PK suspected that the sudden increase in noise from outside was due to the hangar bay being breached by the explosion. Being as he had no breathing gear, it was not a good place to be anymore. PK strode over to his helmet, and jammed it back on his head. Being as the IR was still on, the bright flickering light from the fires nearly flash-fried his eyes before he could turn it off. Sparing a brief thought to wonder where the hell reinforcements had got to, he began trying to find a way inside from the suffocating outside atmosphere.*

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

Darkling
You pass through the living area of the Marine Barracks, a large room that is - at present - illuminated by dim emergency lighting. A pair of hydrogen cell auxilliary generators thrum contentedly in the centre of the room. In the various chairs set on the floor around the room sit a large number of Marines - roughly 40 - all dressed in full battle gear. A lot of them look tense. You pass through a door, walk down one level of the stairwell before you, and find yourself looking at the door to the Armoury. It's unguarded - who needs guards when there's a room full of Marines immediately above - and after punching in the access code known to all the Marines stationed at the base, the door slides open obediantly. In front of you are rows of gleaming weaponry and equipment.

(Take your pick of stuff from the equipment lists on the first page. Remember, a second main combat weapon is going to be cumbersome to carry, and you don't have training to use equipment from the other specialist proffessions.)

Fluffie
Blood wells up readily from the man's mouth. His face fixed in a sardonic smile, you watch the last vestiges of life fade from his eyes, and with that, he is dead. Mathers stands looking over your shoulder at the dead man.

"Those troops were Rangers, sir." He says, strapping a pule pistol holster to his hip unconcernedly. "What were they doing here? And why did they attack us?" It's getting real cold inside now. Even if you did have power, it'd be all but useless with the temperature outside as low as it is and a hole in the side of the tower. You both have winter coats hanging next to the door - which is fortunate, as none of the now-dead Marines did - and Mathers has his gas mask. You are relieved to note that all three of the Rangers had gas masks on them, in pouches, so they aren't splattered with blood and God knows what else. Contained in pouches are several HE and flash grenades - no chaffe or incendiary - and one of the Rangers also had a Pulse Pistol. Apart from that, all they have are their uniforms, armour, pulse rifles and bayonets; none of which you really have used for.

Mao
You run along the path cut through the snow, heading toward the distant Tower C. You reason that you ought to be able to get a com message through now that you're outside, but you recieve only static as a reply. The sides of this miniature, man-made canyon fall away, and are replaced by flat snow. Tower C is directly in front of you. As you watch, two Marines emerge from it - neither appear to be wounded. They haven't seen you yet.

(Careful what you do here...)

Dunin
Cautiously, you make your way down the stairs to underground level one. You walk out of the door to the level, and see a corridor straight ahead of you. A plaque on the wall reads "Armoury", and has an arrow pointing straight ahead down the corridor in front of you. You hear another scream - this one much closer, and coming from toward the Armoury...

Flapjack
I tried.

Ignoring a strong sensation that tells you to go downwards, away from the monsters, you decide to follow the red critters up the stairs. It quickly becomes apparent that this is a mistake. As you round the corner, you see that they are dissapearing behind the doorway to the perimeter corridor of the floor above you. Suddenly, you hear a loud screeching noise, and two of the larger red creatures like the one you just killed come through the door. Before you can react, one of them leaps at you. In the narrow confines of the stairwell, it is impossible to dodge - one of its razor sharp front limbs pierces your upper arm through, blood wells from the wound...

Bakan
Your armoured steel fist smashes the creature into shards of carapace and yellow goo. This little problem taken care of, you run back toward the elevator, and by luck the car stops on your floor at this point. The doors jarr slightly, but then freeze with only a small crack open. The doors are jammed...

Crazy
Putting the flaming Marine out of his misery, you reason that there's probably not going to be any more of them coming through the fire, and start heading down the corridor toward the doors to higher levels. In short order, you reach them both. One set of double doors leads to the elevator shaft - you can hear the whirring of gears grinding, so it is obviously working, the other leads to a stairwell.

PK
The atmosphere outside is thin, but not fatal. Well, not yet. Nonetheless, your breathing becomes slightly laboured as your lungs strain to get the required quantity of oxygen out of the air. You look for an exit out of the hangars - and one reveals itself fairly quickly. A set of double doors, leading out from the hangar you're currently in and into the corridor beyond.

Crazy hesitats for a moment. The lift seemed to be working. And it would certainly be easier and quicker using it to get all the back to the safety of the barracks. But, from what he had seen in the generator room, he didn't really trust being in a confined space, with no where to fall back to if things should get troublesome and no room to manuver etc. Having made up his mind, Crazy started the long haul back up the stairs.

/OOC: I have a tremendous amount of respect for you ND, but Cali's two latest posts have been about treveling. You said that this RP is moving too slowly, so you have my full support to role-play her movements from point A to point B so that we can get a bit more done.

While climing down the stairs, Cali grunts in irritation as she finally remembers to flick the switch back to pump fire. No use wasting more ammunition. As she arrives at the 1st floor she hears a scream. Frowning behind her mask she accelerates to a trot and makes her way down the corridor to the armoury (unless she is disturbed on the way).
When there she waits a second and cycles a cartridge into the barrel and then opens the door to leap down with one knee, her shotgun pointing at whatever moves in the room.

Re: ND's Christmas Surprise

Looking at the rows of weapons and equitment, tempting as some of it was he had to be wise about what to get. Deciding it might be best to upgrade his weaponry first, Lewis grabs one of the pulse pistols loading it with some ammo whislt grabbing an extra clip or two. Mkaing sure to grab some more ammo for his rifle whislt he was at it, spotting some silencers and scopes and laser sights neatly put away in a cabinet just of to his side. Grabbing the scope and clipping it onto the top of the pulse rifle, screwing the silencer into the end barrel of the rifles, a laser sight being added to the pistol for better aim. Decidng a comms booster might come in handy as well if there was some kind of interfirance being used.

Dumping his current armour for the more durbable rienforced armour, if was going to have run around he was going to do protected. Finishing off by grabbing some more fuel for the blow torch from one engineer kits laying around, and a pack of three smoke grenades.

Walking out of armoury hoping he did not take more than he should have, shrugging it off the captain did say take what you want after all. Trying to recall now the path to get to the research area, wishing he had the map they had given him when he first arrived here with him right now.

ooc - Opted to upgrade current weapon and pick up secondary weapon rather than change my primary one for somthing else or carry a load of grenades around. As for the blow torch does the fuel for it come in some type canister that attaches to the blow torch itself, or does it rely on a feed from a gas bottle?"

"I don't know, Mathers. Get your coat and strap on your mask, unlike you feel like breathing that thin air."

Fluffie got up again, releasing the now dead Marine from his grip. He took the gas mask and some extra ammunition with him, tucking it away under the webbing of his armour, having a feeling it might come in handy later on. Looking around the room and checking the other corpses, he takes two HE and one flash grenade with him, along with some extra ammo, before getting his coat and putting it on.

"Don't forget to get some grenades... And keep radio silence, if we could hear them, they could very well hear us, ok?"

He reloaded the clip in his SMG and then tucked it away, getting out his Rifle again. Making sure there was a bullet loaded in the chamber and that the safety was off, he closes his coat and puts on his mask, checking if it works correctly before continueing. (Assuming it works here...) Happy with not having to breath the thin air, he steps over to Mathers.

"I'll cover the front, you watch our backs. Ready?"

Assuming Mathers is, Fluffie carefully steps outside, continually scanning the area in front of him and to his sides. In a steady pace, he begins advancing towards the base... In the case of him seeing anything, he quickly gets down to a crouched position, trying to identify the target while bringing his rifle up against his shoulder. Should it be a foe, it's a dead one.

If you got from A to B quite so quickly, how would you run into to any enemies to shoot? It would also shatter the illusion of distance and time passing etcetera.
