So we went wild boar hunting last week....
And only got two boars, a skunk, a rabbit, and a blackbird.
Wasted 12 hours.

Re: So we went wild boar hunting last week....
Ah, perhaps I should clarify.
We own about 3000 acres of land about 20 miles south of our house, most of it going to crops and hay grazer feilds for cattle. These wild boars that roam about eat anything and everything. They reduced our corn fields to 3 inch stalks in the course of 3 nights. They attack cattle and other animals, and they tend to charge humans also. They also come close enough to the barn to harm animals, or humans that happen to be there without a gun.
So no, I don't want population control, I want population extermination. It's not like they're endangered, but they completely destroyed 3000 acres of land.
It didn't exactly break my heart either.
(yes horn, I got the reference to my holocaust joke. I laughed too.)
Replying to s|k : there are nearly 200 of the bastards on the property, so we didn't dent them much.

did the boar break into your tent and take it away and then knock you over in the undergrowth and you were about to shoot it but then realised that it was the reincarnation of a man you killed by mistake a few years ago believing him to be the man that drove your parents to suicide?

I am unsure as to the identity of the father of my baby; after all when you eat a can of beans you can't be sure which one made you fart.

If you'd set out to kill one boar you would have doubled your expected kill rate.
The lesson to be learned from this is:
"Lower your expectations!!!"

Re: So we went wild boar hunting last week....
I'd assume so.
I thought you went wild boar hunting with spears. People march loudly through one end of the forest (or corn field), and other people stand with spears at the other end of the forest (or corn field) and wait for a wild boar to run at them, at which point they attack them with a spear.
You should try this method and see if you get more

Dude, that's in an episode from Lost. :0 Waiiiit, you knew that, didn't you. Why does horn seem to think that quazok really killed someone. (EDIT: nm) By the way Sawyer is one of my favorite Lost characters. :>
EDIT:
WTF, I love my post in that thread Dante linked to:

You're meant to use a rod* to fish, not catch it in your hands. Fish tickling is much harder.
I don't think you'd want to wrap you arms around / tickle a wild boar, either.
*not your own, unless it's a) long enough and b) suitable to be fish bait

fishing just bores me to no end. and it's amazing what boredom can do to a person.
i think i'll just stick to chasing insects with my electrical tennisracket.

resisting the temptation to make a pun on "bore" aside, I have one of those tennis racket-type things. They look more fun than they are it's impossible to hit anything with them.
