Door Snakes
Anyone else got a door snake? If so you might want to try this. When you enter the house and close the door behind you, you push the snake against the bottom of the door to block draughts. However, when you leave the house and close the door as you go, you can't push the snake back in to place in order to keep the warm air in and the cold air out.
Solution?
Tie a piece of string to the snakes head and tail, trail the string under the door and outside, that way as your leaving, you can pull the snake in to position. This won't work of course if you have a new PVC door with a tight seal but then if you did, you wouldn't need a door snake anyway.
And to think I called myself Billy No Brains

Re: Door Snakes
Dude, you shouldn't be using a real snake as a draught excluder, they're to thin (generally) and won't stay in place when your gone. Having said that, make sure the door is closed before pulling the strings and you should be ok.
At this rate I might have to change my name

Re: Door Snakes
im fairly confident most of them are attatched to doors rather than freestanding

Commuters! Spread the cost of an expensive monthly bus pass by paying for each journey individually.

I know I'm not You Are Gay or indeed Freud, but would you link longing for a long slithery object as a child to dressing up as a girl as a man?

Oddly not a door that looks like a snake. (although that would be snake door rather than door snake...) They are a roll type plush thingy, sometimes with a snake head at one end, although I have seen cat ones with little legs.
Bring on the 1960s technology! I am off to listen to some vinyl records...
