adjustable population growth

I was thinking, it might add something to the game if you could modify your population growth, perhaps by leaving some of the total population idle, thisway you could have more control over your planets growth... so basically if you left 5% of your population unassigned you would see a percentage increase in population (you have to find out what percent by testing it) thisway if you decided you were going to war with another galaxy you could set 10% of your population to idle andhave a larger capacity to build ships and mine rec later on (and maybe make the production capibilities more population dependant) then each type of government could have different bonuses. also each race would have different rates... anyone agree?

Population numbers don't do anything, so this doesn't influence the game in any way.

there already is a setting for increasing the population growth, it's just commented out of the game as the population as a value has no impact on the game, yet anyway

On topic:

While having the size of your planets population do something more worthwhile is certainly interesting, there has to be some care with regards to how it helps to improve the gameplay experience.

Off topic:

It is amusing that PA Team members refuse to take part in the interesting discussion about how to improve existing game mechanis and similar topics. Personally I think that is simply down to the current developers being absolutely incompetent with regards to developing and running a game, and are afraid to underline that point of view even further. However, that raises the question why they comment on totally irrelevant features that have nothing to offer in terms of increasing the gameplay / customer experience instead of the topics that could actually do with some love from them.

It's interesting the game devs show up when unimportant suggestions are done, yet remain totally absent when more interesting threads are created.
