Question so...how easy/hard is it to switch university??

i'm scheduled to start Heriot-Watt Uni this October however i've decided muchly due to reasons that i actually want to stay and go to Aberdeen Uni or maybe even possibly go to Edinburgh Uni. Anyway what im asking is, is it easy to switch Uni, same course that is - would i be able to do it in 2nd year?? Or is it alot easier if i just don't go to H-W this year and reapply in UCAS. Bear in mind i really don't want to waste a year out - all my friends are going to uni this year, taking a gap year and watching them all start 2nd year would be deppressing if im just a lowly 1st year.

You have to do (ie pay for) the first term at least before you drop out; you're legally required to go to the university if you agreed a place.

You can drop out after the first year entire, but you're less likely to get a student loan for the second university; if you drop out in the first two terms, you can be guaranteed one.

Ive started in first year every time though; hes talking about transferring into a later year.

iirc, its MUCH easier to get a loan for a change, if they change is BEFORE your 2nd year at a uni.
