So.....
What?
Don't buy OpenOffice on eBay or you'll end up murdering your wife and baby?

He was selling it. My point is, that he's a scammer. A massive fraud. Selling free software on ebay, heh.

There's nothing wrong with selling free software, although the use of MS Office logo is pretty misleading.

It's a scam! Yes there's something wrong with it! He's exploiting people who don't know that the software is free. That's clearly wrong.

But anyway, this particular auction is pretty unethical because it's designed to mislead people but I said there's nothing wrong with selling free software (in general). Back in the day, Amiga magazinees used to carry ads selling discs with Public Domain software on them for instance.
Perhaps there should be some obligation on the behalf of the seller to indicate where/if you can obtain the software for free, but that seems a pretty unique duty. If I pay £2.50 for a bottle of water at a night club they're not obliged to tell me I can get it down the street for 60 pence.
Caveat emptor and all that.

Re: Neil Entwistle was selling OpenOffice on eBay
It's not that clear-cut. OpenOffice can be downloaded for free, but getting it on a CD posted to you, and having to pay for it doesn't seem unreasonable, and is fairly common practice for FOSS distribution.
I can't remember offhand whether OpenOffice is GPL or another variation, but there's nothing in the GPL to prevent the sale & redistribution of software licnsed under it.
There seems to be a lot of sensationalist reposting of news on GD, without a lot of thought as to what the situation actually is.
