Fix the login during shuffle
Disable it. Don't let people try to login and then tell them they can't do it.

Same should be applied everywhere. I'll try to whine here about those when I find them again.

didn't we post this last round? i figured it was changed already, but was surprised when i saw it during the shuffle. i don't see why it would be such a difficult thing to change that it already hasn't been done

This is a surprisingly complicated change, as admins login and don't get redirected and told the game is closed, so we need a completely new admin login system if logins are going to be completely disabled.

I agree it makes sense though.

I agree it makes sense though.
I think you missed the spirit of Hude's suggestion. The key point was to alert people up front that the game is down. The improtant fact here is that the login is useless for players. They need to be informed of this before they login, not after.

I have actually *done* something to fix it

It just took 5-10 minutes more than it probably appeared it should have!

What have you done? Implemented exactly what Hude said? Made magic elves distract people when they try to login while the game is down?

Habit.
I've done what I said - when the game is closed, the login page automatically redirects to the 'closed' page with the closed message.

Admins now login elsewhere.

ah cool. i was gonna say that you could even just add a line above the 'username field' or something that says 'hey the game is broken, logging in is useless!'
