Fenced gals

Hi!

So, it seems like everyone is going out of their way to fence the sh!t out of their gals this round. Seems people are shying away from the idea of fort gals, though god only knows why.

So, on the assumption that the above is accurate and most big alliances are going out of their way to fence gals, rather than consolidate members into fewer galaxies, I can't be the only one who sees where this is going?

The idea of a 'fence gal' is that you spread out the number of alliances present in a gal in order to reduce incoming. It doesn't work. From a galaxy perspective, it absolutely doesn't help. Alliance-wise, it works out a little better as it's harder to target your members, but galaxies under the impression that just because you have members from 5 of the top 6 or 7 alliances that you'll not get any incoming, are somewhat naive.

If everyone's fenced, it means that alliances wont be able to exclusively target gals that don't contain members. There are too few gals for this to be viable, so not only are your own alliances going to be in a position whereby they'll have to attack member gals, but when they do your gal def pool gets dramatically reduced. And, of course, you can't defend against incs, which creates animosity.

Plus, with a majority of gals being fenced gals, then it means anyone who has forts is dramatically less likely to be hit for fear of political ramifications. Gals will be hit based purely on how fat they are, and no amount of fencing is going to save you in that regard. Also, the alliance that does fort gets significantly more non-member targets, which will drive team play and consequentially the associated def culture.

I suppose that one advantage of non-fort gals is that alliances wont expect gals to dc their own incs for the most part. Which means that people wont need to be as active if the reliance on alliance dc's is greater. Which, in turn, means that when gals do get incs the chances of being able to properly coordinate def is reduced.

Sure, the top gals will make it work. But then, the top gals could make either fort or fence work. For everyone else, fencing is a stupid idea*.

*Yes, I'm fencing. Just following orders!
