Re: F A T

I think it eventually will go down to how many people are able to stockpile the most and which ally will gain most from it. I expect that there are a few cov-op planets out there with quite a huge production stacked (why the PA team didn't close that loophole is beyond me). It really all depends on that the way I see it. Quite uninteresting in terms of wars and strategy, but this game has been set up so that the best strategy is actually the most boring one.

Not blaming anyone in particular for this, its more a statement of fact. What ally has the most stockpiled in hidden production will win the way i see it.

Re: F A T

The way I see it, there is nothing wrong whatsoever in playing with distorters, and particularly not so in covoping/sking other scanners.

When it comes to playing with dists, I don't think people appreciate how much research you lose out on, and how slowly you are able to build ships. You can't stockpile, because you will not be able to spend resources. You can continuously spend resources to keep a production line forever and ever, but this is error-prone (I certainly ****ed it up last round) and boring.

On the other hand, the way we played last round was great for me, personally. I was able to play value, get a decent score, study for exams... In general I spent a lot less time online than I'd usually do. This is because I didn't get incomings, and I didn't send defense (Neither did I get any though). I mean, there were like 4 nights last round I had incomings, and only two of those were significant (Lost 500 and ~2k roids, respectively). I was online to claim targets, send attacks, and enqueue distorters. That was all that PA demanded from me.

What made last round work so well was that the four of us (mz, Benneh, JBG) followed a pretty general plan, and it worked. Plans that work are a lot more fun than plans that don't work, but the potential was always there and anyone could have done what we did. The fact that it was shown to work last round meant that it could be tried on a larger scale this round, and it seems that a lot of people in Ascendancy have done so, which is probably a good thing for them. It's important to realise though, that these people are not unscannable. I'm terran dictatorship, and even if I were not in the same tag, I could have scanned them. If an alliance can not get scans on them, it is because a) their scanners are shit b) they selected a setup that left them vulnerable to covert ops(see a) c) they can't defend against structure killers on their scanners. One could easily forgive c) if one didn't realise how small planets need to be to hit a scanner.

Whining about covert operations and structure kills is just weird. It has been a part of the game for as long as I have played PAX, and I do mean really a part of the game (Something people actually do!!), not just something that was possible. It's just another weapon to use, just another way to get an edge.

It'd be pretty hilarious if the game mechanics were changed over this, but not entirely unexpected. One has to wonder why no one else thinks of these things, though.

Oh, and one point that isn't made nearly often enough:

It's actually possible to really have good fun in PA, you just have to make it yourself!

just wanted to comment on this..

if the big alliances forced the scanners to be out of tag so you could have 60 value/score planets in tag, you basically allowed this to happen because you couldn't defend them effectively.

many people have posted multiple times on numerous forums in the past that people should be allowed to play the game how they wanted be it xp, scanning, cov ops, value, whatever. i personally think its humorous to see that what Ascendancy is apparently doing this round has turned you all into hypocrites.

Re: F A T

Time and time again Ascendancy prove to do things which make them stand out.. fair play to them.. if anyone moans about ascendancy dis whores, then you should all be shot.. alliances are pathetic, if asc are really a threat, hit them, rape them, take them with SKs but no no, best leave them and go roid hunting until they become unhittable, i dont need to name these pathetic alliances because it obvious, and they know who they are.

Outright abuse of another user in this post - not acceptable - do it again it's a ban - Lok
