I've put some thought toward a low-maintenance placeholder game to keep you all occupied while I deal with examination.

Not for Years 11, 12 and 13, no. If it's not actual examinations then its mock examinations and if it's not either of those then it's coursework.

Year 13?
At least here in the US of A we can get exempted from our finals (at my level anyway).

Yes but I'm not revising for mock examinations at the moment, I'm revising for real examinations, so null point.

Re: Planet Wars: Redux
A report
The coming week has me sitting exams on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday all, but after that I have a week off school due to continuing study leave but no exams. I'll be doing a lot of (visible) work in that week, when I'm not taking a driving theory test or having my eyes tested (apparently I can't read lisence plates well enough ).

Re: Planet Wars: Redux
A bad report ( )
Well I was planning to begin working on the thread tomorrow after a restful weekend.
However, fate has conspired against me (us), and today my computer effectively destroyed itself in a chain of events following on from what I originally thought to be an essentially harmless graphical glitch in the Battlefield 2 demo. Now it's increasingly looking like the PC will need a reformatting and a new graphics card, and since it can't even so much as open Windows, extracting our game's data is going to be impossible. I only hope that Crazy still has most of the stuff on this end of the line. I apologise for the continuing delays.

No, no, no! Stop! You're trashing my new graphics card!
I still can't seem to access parts of the old file structure though. I blame myself for setting it so that other users couldn't view my account's Documents folder.

Re: Planet Wars: Redux
Lakhim, this is me we're talking about. Of course I have Battlefield 2. It looks pretty awesome on my awesome new graphics card, but I think I still need more RAM.
It's surprisingly difficult to play without sound, but I've still won myself a Gold Star already

Re: Planet Wars: Redux
Oh. Yeah. Progress report.
Well, although the old spreadsheet system appears lost for good, I believe most if not all of the information pertaining to the game that Crazy and I actually wrote up is going to be splashing around the digital world somewhere. As I was going to make us a database anyway, I can write it all out again then if we don't find it.
The only thing I'm worried we might have lost lost is the map.

Re: Planet Wars: Redux
I like the way you seem to think I'd already revealed the entire map to you and the other players and that it's all in the lower left corner of the big hexagonal grid - that is otherwise empty - there.

Re: Planet Wars: Redux
Update:
I fitted a new sound card on Sunday. Gleefully (for I am a sad person), I fired up Battlefield 2 to catch up on some lost time. My computer was overheating within twenty minutes of play. Immediately, I ordered two new case fans.
One of these arrived yersterday, and I fitted it as soon as I got back from school that evening. Once again, I perhaps over-optimistically fire up Battlefield 2, expecting my overheating problems to be put to rest. However, this time the tower overheats within five minutes. I turned the thing off as quickly as possible and opened the case up. I'm fairly sure it's the processor, since it was almost burning to the touch.
I ****ing hate computers.

Re: Planet Wars: Redux
I thought of trying to do that but I'd rather not go near my processor if you know what I mean.
Then again a new an improved processor would only cost marginally more than the new sound card I have already shelled out on.
Oh well. Mounting the new case fan so it's facing in the opposite direction seems to have helped.
Edit: Not fixed helped, but rather slightly improved helped. I had it going for about thirty minutes today.

Re: Planet Wars: Redux
You cannot be serious, you'd rather replace your processor instead of clean the heatsink!?
*Has a hernia. *
If you are worried about damage then just do a quick once over with a cotton bud without removing anything - at least check the bloody thing to see if it is indeed dirty.
edit - another thing you can do while the problem persists is to leave the cover(s) off the tower and keep it in a fairly open (and well ventilated) space. However, if problems indeed do persist, I seriously recommend taking the whole bloody thing into your local computer shop for an overhaul if you haven't already done so.

Re: Planet Wars: Redux
It was intended as a qualification. "At least if I do break the processor trying to clean the heatsink, a new and improved one won't cost too much."

4 golds, 6 silvers and 5 bronze stars. Like candy they hand those things out .
Maybe we can play sometime, when you get this fixed.
