Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

"Maintain weapons locks on their fighters. Launch our fighters with orders for close-range defence screen."

Kane watched the tactical display.

"Move to combat speed and prepare to engage."

The Starwinds engines suddenly flare to life and the ship accelerates towards the enemy carriers and their fighter escorts.

Back on the bridge, Kane watches the distance readout scroll down rapidly.

"Prepare to fire all pulse phaser banks and charge the black hole generator..." The readout turned amber, then green, indicating optimal weapons range.

"Fire!"

Summary
  • Maintain weapons lock on enemy fighters.
  • Launched Fighters - Orders: Close-Range Point Defence
  • Moved to combat speed, heading towards enemy vessels, intending to engage fighters at optimal range.
  • Charging Black Hole Generator
  • Unloaded ALL Pulse phaser shots at the fighters. 48 shots I believe.

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

”RRAAHHH FOOOODDD EVIL MESSAGE...!!!”

The Wraiths’ message was neatly forwarded and then played on Fluffie’s bridge. Looking around and seeing the faces of his organic crewmembers look not all too happy. R2 didn’t seem to care much. Maybe the little rascal knew something they didn’t...

With that in mind, our beloved captain suddenly heard something about “sinister foes” and about being put on hold. Not swift to react he considered saying something, when suddenly the Kiperial March started booming out of his bridge’s speakers. Looking up with a sudden smile on his face, a feeling of warmth spread through his body. He had this feeling before, when thinking about [...] or big, massive explosions. It was an enjoyable feeling and the fact that this music seemed to “summon” it, wasn’t bad at all.

“Comms Girl, could you, like, record this?”

If Fluffie would’ve actually looked at the cuteness he had spoken to, he would’ve seen a face boiling with astonished anger! Slamming her console with her fist, she spoke back with a quite raised and angry sounding voice.

”COMMS GIRL?! DON’T YOU BLOODY WELL THINK I’VE GOT A NAME YE... YE MAD AND DISGUSTING... CAPTAIN.. BOY THING!”

Feck.

The captain carefully stood up and turned around, facing the enraged Comms Officer. This didn’t look good.

“Well.. Erh...”

Fluffie started to blush. He started blushing even more when he realised his answer hadn’t been the most inteligent, nor tactical best one.

And then! All of a sudden, the Comms Girl jumps over her console and kicks Fluffie in his stomach, screaming something like ”Ninja kick!” as she does so Our hero is totally suprised by this and thus can’t really defend himself, but luckily he works out much, so his very l33t and muscular tummy takes the hit, just like that. They do fall over however, with the girl sitting on top of Fluffie in a position that could look very unsuitable when about to face an evil enemy race that’s attacking you.

Of course, just then, Marcus’ face appeared back on the viewscreen.

"Ah, Lieutenant Commander Solo, thank you for waiting. It would appear that those are creatures made of...anti-energy? Yes, anti-energy, that feed on more normal life forms such as ourselves for nourishment. We humans are apparently the tastiest treats of all. I am reliably informed that light is their primary weakness an-...

Unless the Alpaca Horde carries any, that is?"

After quite a monologue () from the captain of the other ship, all Fluffie managed to do was raise his head from the floor and shake it softly.

“Not really.”

He looked up at the Comms Girl, still seated on top of him. R2 snickered in the background because he was at first not human and thus relatively safe from being eaten and secondly because Mr. Fluffie was looking like a damn fool right now. Fluffie in the meanwhile, he looked back at the screen, looking at Dachi.

“You mind if I talk to you in a minute or so? I.. erh.. Yeah. R2?”

BEEP *snicker* BEEP *more snickering* [k *snicker* k *more snickering*]

Playing nice, R2 subsequently closed the channel to the Fortuna, giving Fluffie time to.. handle.. his situation. He looked up at the girl on top of him, who was also looking back at him. She looked at an even bigger loss of words than Fluffie was.

And, of course, there were still two Attack Frigates coming to kill them, which kind of meant they didn’t have a whole lot of time.

“So...”

”So...?”

“If you tell me your name now... We’ll have a chat and sort things out later?”

She looked down at him and thought about it. During her short time here, she already had heard rumours of him being harassed by the ship. Maybe he wasn’t such a sick individual after all.........

”Ok.”

*snicker*

R2 received an evil look of the kind that only women can give. His snickering stopped immidiately. Not even his mechanical body felt up to facing a woman that could throw looks like that.

”Pleuntje.”

Freeing his hand from where-ever it had been captured under her, Fluffie shook her hand.

“Nice to meet you, Pleuntje.”

Shaking his hand for a second, Pleuntje then got up and returned to her console. Fluffie got up too and sat down in his leather chair again, looking at the viewscreen which blinked into life again, showing Marcus’ face.

“Ahem... So, yeah, we don’t have any probes, sorry. But light you say, eh?”

Fluffie had taken the liberty of going through the Fortuna’s stats and blueprints earlier. It wasn’t such a bad thing to know who you were flying with.

“Don’t yer Fusion Bombs create some light?”

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

Marcus frowned in a puzzled manner. The man was looking even more unsettled now. Something must be going on aboard the other ship...

"Fusion bombs do indeed generate a bit of light," He replied, still frowning, but now over possible ways to kill the creatures. "...but those vessels are Asanawa Clan ships, and were not built by these Wraith creatures." Wraiths, he called them. Marcus had never heard them been called that, but then he'd never heard them called anything, and so "Wraiths" seemed a good enough name for now. "Bearing in mind that those are Clan warships rather than Wraith warships, I'm not sure that the fusion bombs will have the effect we desire."

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

The man on the other side of the viewscreen spoke words that sounded quite truthful. Asanawa Clan ships probably weren't going to suffer lots and then die, Attack Ships were supposed to be mean beasts of destruction.

The ones coming for'em looked like mean beasts of destruction, oh yes, they most certainly did.

"So, we'll just have to blow them out of the sky, the good ol' fashioned way? Or maybe that big sensor contact could help us?"

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

"It would strike me that we already have two well-armed enemy ships attempting to destroy us," Marcus said, looking momentarily at the sensor viewscreen over to the left of the main viewscreen, which was currently showing a vast sphere of space 40 light years in diameter (and, obviously, not very detailed), with a red dot labelled "Unidentified SDF Class" lurking on the outskirts, "and that bearing this in mind it would be unwise to put ourselves in a position whereby we might possibly be engaged by other enemy vessels untill we've dealth with the two we already have on us. Asanawa Clan ships are fast and carry heavy firepower, but are weakly armoured. I suggest we concentrate our fire on one ship. After it has been destroyed, we will carry a significent advantage with which to destroy the other, while their own firepower will have been halved." Marcus looked at the sensor viewscreen again. The area rendered had now grown considerably smaller - a diameter of a few dozen light seconds only. It showed two red dots, each marked "Hostile Ninjato Class", both of which were moving rapidly toward the two green dots in the middle of the display, which naturally represented the Fortuna and the Alpaca Horde.

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

“Roger that, Fortuna. Lets take number one down then...”

*kkzzchhkk*

The Alpaca Horde stopped transmitting for the moment, but kept on receiving communications from the Fortuna.

“R2, evasive flying. Try and not get hit by their weapons, our Phaser should be able to fire from any angle anyhow, eh?”

BEEP *snicker* BreeEEEP... [right-o *snicker* i’ll show’em a real pilot...]

“Lotte, bloody wake up?”

On the viewscreen, next to the overview of this sector in the dark and cold void of space, a red and female face appeared, looking at Fluffie.

”I already shot’em once, y’know.”

“You barely scratched’em...”

The face gave Fluffie a mean stare and then looked past him, at the Comms Girl. Frowning for a second, Lotte looked back at the still seated cap’n. She frowned again, but didn’t say anything. She knew she’d get back at him if he cheated on her.... Oh yes, he was hers, though he might not fully realise that. As the Borg would say, resistance was futile. How could anyone resist an AI such as herself?

“Oi, you listening? I’ll get Ed to give the Phaser more power, but you’ll have to do me proud and bloody well punch them right on the nose, okay?”

”Fine, fine! One bloody nose, coming up...”

“Heh, there’s my girl.”

The representation of Lotte on the viewscreen smiled at the compliment, while Fluffie pressed the button on his chair again.

“Ed!”

Roaarrr [fluffie!

“We got any power left?”

MRRAARRRHH [maybe if you’d have given me more money]

“Right... Think you can squeeze more juice into the Phaser?”

Rarh [i’ll try, i’ll try]

“Ye’re my hero, y’know that, right?”
Ed didn’t bother replying. Fluffie smiled and looked at the viewscreen again, which now showed an external view of his destroyer, which had started its evasive maneuvers.

“Lotte, you’re going to hit’em good, right?”

”Hit’em good, hit’em hard, darling.”

The smile on Fluff’s face grew bigger. A Gatling Phaser 9 was supposed to be quite a sight when firing... And this was going to be his first time. Would it look better at close range, dodging enemy shots and gliding through their formation? He figured he had quite an advantage with his full 360 degrees firing arc, which he hoped R2 and Lotte were capable of exploiting quite well.

Summary of Great Zigging Justice
Pumping as much extra power into the Phaser 9 as possible and firing it (at max power) at enemy #1’s forward section.
Flying evasively, utilising the Phaser 9’s 360 degree firing arc as much as possible to keep firing when they can’t hit me

If I haven't replied before you DM, then just assume I'm sticking with my original plan (post 213 on page 5). It included most of my actions for when we got to the attack destroyers. I'd very much like to write a normal post though, so don't just DM me if there's still time for me to reply. Please?

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

"Sir, the Alpaca Horde is breaking off and entering evasive manouevres." Aernus reported, tapping a few commands into the console in order to bring the other destroyer up onto the main viewscreen. It did indeed appear to be circling around, preparing to attack, main drives flaring brightly as it accelerated to full speed. Marcus sat back in the comand chair. The Fortuna hadn't been up against Clan ships before...

"Red, take us in after the Alpaca Horde," He ordered the ship's Helmsman, before turning to the Weapons Officer, "Kyrrick, order all gun batteries to prepare to fire. As soon as we're in range, fire off as many salvoes as you can. Have the point defense turrets running hot and slaved to Persephone's control...speaking of which, wher-" Marcus was abruptly cut off as a sphere of pure white light, replete with its own stylised aura, appeared in one corner of the main viewscreen - the chosen avatar of Persephone, the Fortuna's resident Artifical Intelligence personality...or one of them, at any rate, though the tactical computer wasn't exactly stimulating conversation just yet.

"Good afternoon, Marcus." Came words, spoken in female tones, seemingly from all around. The sphere of light on the viewscreen pulsed in sync with the voice. "I have been monitoring everything on the bridge thus far, and have created a new section in my race archive for the Wraith."

"I...ah...very well. Kyrrick," Marcus continued, now looking at the Weapons Officer again, "slave the point-defense turrets to Persephone's control. Persephone, you've got better reflexes than any of us have; keep an eye on the sensors and if you see any incoming ordnance, shoot it down."

"Gladly, Marcus," Replied the sphere in its feminine voice. Kyrrick and Alanni had both agreed that the AI personality should be gendered female. Since the two of them rarely agreed on anything, Marcus had decided to go along with their mutual feeling on the matter. Besides that, it was a matter of tradition, and who was he to break millenia of tradition.

"Sir," Alanna cut in across the temporary silence, "we will be in firing range any second." The Fortuna was a small ship by most standards, and so it didn't have the full retinue of bridge officers; Alanna doubled-up as Tactical Officer in addition to her role as No1, and between her training and intelligence and the ship's (somewhat primitive) Tactical AI personality, the destroy was amply covered from the tactical perspective. Marcus looked up at the main viewscreen. It was now showing the Ninjato classes front-on, and they were closing fast.

"Kyrrick, order the gunners to open fire." He said, eyes fized on the viewscreen in front of him.

"Aye sir," Replied Kyrrick, and then, to a microphone protruding on a spindly arm from his console, "all batteries, open fire!" On the viewscreen, two brilliant white beams of light lanced out from the bottom edge of the view, streaming toward the Ninjato Class that the Alpaca Horde had fired on. The two Fusion Cannon beams impacted on the surface of the Asanawa-built ship's energy shields, temporarily forcing the front of the shield arc into visibility as the force of the two beams dissapated. Then, the quad blaster cannon roared into life. A stream of red laser bolts, seemingly without end, throwing themselves toward the distant frigate and illuminating its shield arc a dull red colour. And, within a few moments of sustained fire, they were under the frigate and passed it.

"Aernus, damage report. Steiner, take us round for another attack run, but try and evade their fire where you can." Marcus said, tearing his eyes away from the pyrotechnic spectacle emerging on the viewscreen.

Summary
-AMD turret slaved to Advanced AI's control.
-Targetting same ship that Fluffie did with all weapons.
-Helmsman instructed to bring the Fortuna around for repeated attack runs on the same ship that Fluffie's attacking.
-Shields and weapons active/

Cid: Not enough damage... Keep firing the phasers into that destroyer's back, we can propbably take out it's engines ready for a party to take them over. We have not got much time left before that big Carrier comes our way.
WO: They're not powerful enough to take out those sheilds in time, sir.
Cid: Then we will bridge a way ready for a sudden particle cannon fire. Send the other EMP missile into that ship's back, I want those sheilds gone ASAP.
WO: Aye, sir.
SO: Sir, we have confirmational statistics on the destroyers. Powered by a Kylithium generator and a Kylithiym engine, defended by Kylithium-enhanced sheilds, bearing Kylithium weapons and it seems they have not noticed us yet, despite our first shots.

*Cid sat on his chair and scratched under his chin thoughtfully.*

Cid: Probable Shraanian vessels, obviously stolen or they would have spotted us at least ten minutes before we appeared out of hyperspace.
No1: They could be as old as the Gatekeeper, sir.

*Cid looked a little more thoughtful than usual as he mulled this over in his head. The Gatekeeper was the largest vessel in the Shraanian Fleet all those years ago and went missing during Shraan's destruction. The story after that was only a myth, a fable told only in books as old as the Remnant. According to the myth, whatever remained of the Royal Fleet headed to Darkus Outpost, the mythical defence planet that they were using as an emergency rendez-vous. The mere mention of Darkus made the story a myth all on its own. They waited two weeks for the Gatekeeper to return, the time it would take for it to travel using sublight engines, before giving up all hope. Whatever originally stole or took control of the Gatekeeper was not a Shraan patriot, but a traitor to Shraan.*

Cid: If they were as old as the Gatekeeper they would still notice us as we came out of hyperspace. Besides, only the Gatekeeper was known as missing, all other ships were accounted for at the time of it's disappearance, destroyed, survived or otherwise. We'll learn more when we get this Lady Death captive for questioning. Meanwhile lets concentrate on the task at hand. Leuitenant Tami!
WO: Aye, cap'n?
Cid: Tell me when those fighters are taken care of, then we'll start the roulette wheel spinning.
WC: Aye, sir!

Charge Particle Cannon - Last Charge Post
Send in fighters to take out the pro-tech ships

OOC- In my post I am assuming that we haven't exchanged weapons' fire yet and that we're just about to jump right next to the attack destroyers who will be so surprised that they won't fire back at us yet (according to your post #243). BTW, I take it the time limit of 10 posts applies on the second part of the mission (capturing/killing Lady Death) and NOT on the first part (capturing/destroying the attack destroyers). It only makes sense for her to try to flee once the attack destroyers have been dealt with, but not before that, given the odds? -OOC

Phelicia: "A COMMAND carrier, you say? Just you wait until I get my hands on that scrawny little guy that reported a LIGHT carrier!"
Helm: "Should I take us out before that carrier does, ma'am?"
Phelicia: "No! It's still a long way off, we'll deal with those attack cruisers as plannend and then we'll see about the carrier."
No1: "You do realise this means we have to take them out really quick, right? We can't afford to draw out the fight."
Phelicia: "Well I know that! You're supposed to be the tactical expert! Why don't you come up with a suggestion instead of telling me things I already know? I didn't make you my second in command because of your good looks, you know!"
Helm: "We'll be exitting hyperspace in 1 minute captain! Whatever you decide, you'd better do it fast!"

* Commander Argyle cracked a smile and with a calm voice said: "Alright, we'll proceed as planned (see previous post #213). So everyone knows their jobs. Those are meta-phasic shields they're using; powerful but highly experimental. Something about the power circulation being highly unstable; it needs constant watch lest it overloads the shield emitters and make the shields pop like a soap bubble, if I recall correctly from my days at the academy. The vast EMP surge caused by our massive volley of EMP missiles is very likely to disturb that delicate balance they're trying to maintain. The impact from the gravatic missiles won't do a lot of damage, but it will make their ship rock so hard that everyone inside it will be thrown out of their chairs to say the least, so they won't be able to monitor the power circulation to their shields for some very crucial seconds."

Helm: "Exiting hyperspace now, captain!"

[i]* Outside, The Drunken Monkey entered the system at came to halt right next to one of the attack destroyers after which a barrage of missiles was fired into the attack destroyer at a very close range.

Phelicia: "Fire all missiles! Launch all fighters! NOW!"
WO: "Firing all EMP and gravatic missiles now, captain.
WC: "Beta and Gamma Squadrons have launched! Alpha Squadron has completed their launch too. All fighters are go!"
No1: "Meg, move us away from here, even without their shields, their weapons are still fully functional!"
Phelicia: "Mister Leetdude! Alpha Squadron is to concentrate fire on the weapons in the area around their bridge so that our shuttle can board them there safely. Beta Squadron is to escort them and Gamma Squadron must hunt down the enemy fighters!"
WC: "Yes Ma'am, understood!"

MC: "Stallion reporting in, captain! I have assembled my boarding party; two companies of shock troopers. I allowed only the very best to come, captain!"
Phelicia: "I'm sure you did. You and your team may enter the shuttle. We'll let you know if and when you can proceed."

SO: "Some of those enemy fighters are breaking off their attack on the merchant ships and coming towards us, captain!"
No1: "Raise shields! Activate AFD and AMD systems."
WO: "Shields raised, AFD and AMD activated."

Phelicia: "Nathalie, what's the status of that command carrier?"
SO: "It's still a long way off, but it's closing in fast, captain."
Phelicia: "Alright. Keep a close eye on them. This had better not take too long..."

------------------------
ACTIONS:

- fire all EMP (4x20) and all gravatic (6x6) missiles into the attack destroyer in an attempt to take down their shield in 1 go as described above.
- all fighters have been launched as follows (also see previous post):
- Alpha Squadron (70 Jupiters) are to take out the weapon systems around the bridge area of the attack destroyer so that the assault shuttle can safely board them there.
- Beta Squadron (12 Slipstreams) are to provide escort for Alpha Squadron.
- Gamma Squadron (20 Light fighters Alpha class) are to establish fighter superiority by hunting down enemy fighters.
- Boarding party (2x shock troops) has been assembled (part of previous post as well) and is standing by, ready to be deployed.
- Helm has been ordered to move the ship away from the destroyer, because they're still dangerous, even without their shields.
- Shields have been raised, AFD3 and AMD3 systems have been activated to deal with incoming enemy fighters.
- SO is to keep an eye on the command carrier.

MISSION 7

GATHER INTEL

Location - Travel to A SILVA DEVIL/HELL WORLD
Distance - 195 Light years

To investigate a SILVA world to see if -

a) any SILVA survive
b) recover SILVA Tech
c) are they still a threat
d) can they be negotiated with

Rewards - 195000c

well this mission is self explanatory

ROLL CALL

1 - Bakan
2 - Planet Killer
3 - Hewitt

You all look at the mission board of all the missions this pays one of the highest fees also it has the highest DANGER RATING.

For almost 100 years plus the SILVA have proved to be a mystery - why do they live on DEMON WORLDS or HELL PLANETS? This question ahs always eluded the most advanced Scientist, there has always been speculation.

The DEMON CLASS PLANETS are a unique anomaly as they tend to be called WANDERING planets, this makes them hard to track - however one can be found 195 light years away - the problem - you will need to refuel along the way.

the planet is also located in CHRONO BORG SPACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Needless to say your crews are scared at the prospect of travelling to such a place and such a world.

CREW MORALE -10% for whole mission

your ships leave Ankaa for their first part of the journey

Location - Nav Point 1
Distance - 20 light years
Fuel Used - 10%

All ok

Location - Nav Point 2
Distance - 40 light years
Fuel Used - 20%

All ok

Location - Nav Point 3
Distance - 60 light years
Fuel Used - 30%

All ok

Location - Nav Point 4
Distance - 80 light years
Fuel Used - 40%

All ok

Location - Nav Point 5
Distance - 100 light years
Fuel Used - 50%

As you emerge from this Nav Point your No1's indicate that you have no entered the CHRONO BORG IMPERIUM.

The borg ship begins to deploy its compliment of fighters and scout ships as you all disregard the Borgs demands

your crews are all nervous and edgy about battling the borg - SOME MIGHT SAY THAT THEY ARE CLOSE TO MUTINY.

SO - we cannot get any scans of the ships as they have to strong shields we need to weakien them also we have tried to upload the borg virus to their computers, we cannot do it there is no way to link to their computers anymore they are immune.

Find a weak point and blast it with the ten Phaser 4s and the six quantum torpedoes. Hopefully we can do some damage before they adapt. *There was no false bravdo on Hewitt's ship, when he saw that large futuristic block of death arrive on the scene Calrissian's eyes went so wide the whites almost squeezed out the puples.*

Hewitt: "Helm! Get us out of here, NOW!"

Helm: "But sir, I can't. The phase drives need time to power up again."

Hewitt: "Then keep us away from that thing!! Launch all our fighters and have them form a protective shield around us."

*Hewitt storms over to the viewscreen trying to figure out just wtf to do to get out of this mess i just had to gamble didn't I?*

SO: "Captain. If I may suggest sir our ship is equiped with an advanced array of sensor and commuciations gear. If you permit, I can perform quite a thorough scan on the enemy cube in order to obtain important imformation regarding the vessels vunerablities... all things considered sir our most likely only option for survival would be to disable or destroy the enemy vessel in some way."

Hewitt: "Fine, fine... do it. While your at it have the weapons officer assist you in this task. He is the one in charge of blowing things up after all."

SO: "Aye sir."

*Hewitt continues to stare blankly at the screen as the WO runs over to the SO's desk as she commences her search. Both seem eager to be hero's and save the day some how... green, fresh out of the academy no doubt. Having made his own decisions Hewitt stands up straight and takes a deep breath, ready to take on the responsblities of command yet again.*

Hewitt: "Ok, people. Let's try to stay alive on this one. Helm move us into a support position behind the other ships and be ready to dodge whatever that thing throws at us. All fighters are to remain with us out of attack range until the SO and WO figure out how to kill that thing *points at the viewscreen* . As for the rest of you... hang on. This is gonna be a bumpy ride."

((summary paragraph))
*And with that, the Athena launches her fighters (defensive pattern around the carrier), raises her shields and moves in behind the other ships while the SO and WO scan and re-scan the borg cube in an continued effort to find some information of use.*

*Cid watched with open eyes as Ms. Bogg exitted hyperspace and began to fire everythinjg it had on the destroyer.*

Cid: Jesus, open a communication link-up to Captain Bogg, I need her attention and I need it now.
Comms: Doing it now sir.

*Cid waited for the link to open before nodding at the screen.*

Cid: Captain Bogg, a quick request from me. If we have any chance taking out a Command Carrier, holding a lot more fighters than we can handle, then we will need to horde everything we can here. That includes the fighters we are about to engage. Disable everything, on no circemstance should we destroy them. Otherwise that Command Carrier will rip through the both of us like wet tissue paper.

Peanut Butter (CO): "Captain Killer wants to talk to you captain. He says it's urgent."
Phelicia: "What? We're in the middle of a battle. Oh very well, put him through."
CO: "Yes Ma'am."

* As captain Killer was done talking, Phelicia was visibly annoyed with the criticism and replied: "Mister Killer, once more I will point out to you that I am not like my father; I actually do have a plan. I know we will need everything we got plus a lot more if we intend to go up against a command carrier! But surely you don't expect them to give up their ships and help us destroy their friends if we just ask them very nicely, hmm? No we'll have take things by force and stuff will get damaged in the process. I'm already trying to keep the damage at a minimum, but if I have to choose between blowing up some enemy fighters or allowing for them to destroy my ship, I will pick the former option. Bogg out." After the commlink had been closed, she said: "What an annoying little man!" to no one in particular.

Phelicia: "Mister Leetdude!"
WC: "Yes Ma'am?"
Phelicia: "Tell Gamma Squadron to break off their attack on the enemy fighters. Instead, let them help Beta Squadron to escort our bombers from Alpha Squadron. However, should any enemy fighter come within range they are free to engage it."
WC: "Yes Ma'am. I'll give the order, Ma'am."

EXTRA ACTION:

- Gamma Squadron (20 light fighters alpha class; see previous post) are to switch primary objectives. They will now help out Beta Squardon (12 slipstream fighters) and guard the jupiters from Alpga Squadron.

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

*Hewitt looks around the bridge as his orders a followed... he does not like what he sees. Crew members eye each other nervously as they fidget with fear. When few turn to their officers for encouragement sure they receive it, but if Hewitt can see the fear behind those shallow masks of hope he was sure as hell that others could as well.*

Hewitt: "God damn it."

SO: "Sir, I've tried everything but there is no way to get sensors through those shields. We would have to take em down if we were to do any pre-liminary scans at least."

WO: "Hey boss, check this out. One of our fellow pirate 'buddies' just let rip at the borg cube with everything they've got!"

*Hewitt rushes over as everyone in the room brightens a little.*

Hewitt: "And?"

WO: *Looks morbidly glum.* "If the borg could laugh they would be doing so right now sir. Barely scratched them."

*Everyone looks on dumbfounded before becoming even more edgy than before. Hewitt knew what they we're thinking.

This was suicide.*

Hewitt: "F*ck this. Call in our fighters! Helm! Turn us about, charge up the phase engine and get us the f*ck out of here!"

Helm: "Erm, where sir?"

Hewitt: "I don't care where! Just as long as it's an empty spot in space and not to far off course!"

*Outside, the Athena swayed heavily to port as she turned away from the omnious borg cube, her fighters buzzing around like a cloud of flies as they broke off their defensive positions and headed back to ship.*

Summary:
- Turn around away from the cube.
- Call in all fighters
- Charge up phase drive
- Plot an escape vector to get the hell away from here (run away! run away!)

The Captain of the Troth's face appeared on the small personal view screen of Tsariach's console.

"Captain. I suggest you start making a run for it. Quickly. Try to keep out of the weapon's range of the destroyers. We'll handle it from here."

The Exarch cut the comm channel after the Captain's reply. He looked up at the main view screen covering the end of the bridge. The three destroyers were closing in fast.

"Tactical. Find out how we can use our blackhole generators against those ships. It might prove useful if we can."

"Sir. Weapons in range!" The Weapons Officer called exicitedly from his console.

"Good. Fire!"

The four disruptors burst to life as they fired off their leathal blasts of green blobs of energy, which tore through space and slammed into the forward section of the lead destroyer.

"I think that might have got their attention..."

-=Summary=-
- Fire Disruptors (x4) at the lead destroyer (targeting their forward shields)
- Boost weapons and shields from spare power
- Request info on using black hole generators as a weapon.

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

*The ship shook lightly as they exited FTL, immediatly followed by a rather doomspelling crunching sound from the linear drive. Moments later the EO stormed onto the bridge*

EO: "Sir, we hit a grav wave, the Linear drive is down untill I can recalibrate it, I think the linear pulse should still work though."

SO: "Scans completed sir, results are on your terminal."

Flapjack: "Well, what are you waiting for, all non-combat personell is yours to use, SO, these scans look good, give me a moment."

*With that, Flapjack shifted his view over the small terminal to his side, pushing it over till it was resting nicely in front of him while calling up the latest information, the sensor scans, quick taps on the screen to zoom in or request additional information on subjects, in the background*

WO: "All weapons and shields are at standby status sir, should we start charging the linear pulse?"

Flapjack: "If we can charge the linear pulse without inhibiting drive recalibration, do it, bring shields up to 25% and keep them ready to boost up to full power. Shutdown any unneeded systems and reroute that power to the energy stores, we might be able to use it to give our systems a short burst of power when we need it. Helm, set a course for that second planet, I don't want to get any closer to that station then I have to for now. SO, concentrate scans on that station, passive only. We don't want to announce ourselves quite yet, we'll save that for when we can jump out on a whim."

summary:
All non-combat personell (anybody that isn't manning a turret/fighter, or needed on the bridge) is to help on recalibrating the linear drive
If possible, while recalibrating the drive, charge the linear pulse
shields to 25%, with enough power on standby to bring them to full power at a whim
weapons on standby
any unneeded systems switched off, power freed in this way stored up for later use.

"Damage report!" Aki's holographic display winked out and she reappeared on the screen.

"Forward shields are at 85%, Light internal damage, a few wounded."

Kane tsks loudly then glances down at the tactical display.

"Ok, fire at will on the fighters, pulse banks only. Fighters continue point defence, take out any missiles or craft that get past our pulse phasers. Ready quantum cannons to fire on the enemy capital ships and fire once we're in range."

----------------------
Summary:
- Pulse Phasers are continuing to fire exclusively at the enemy fighters.
- Fighters are continuing to take out any missiles and any fighters that get too close.
- Readying and firing quantum cannons at enemy Escort Carriers.

Moments later, Fluffie's face appeared on the communications viewscreen - tall and narrow, designed to show a portrait of whoever was hailing the ship, and positioned to the right of the main viewscreen which was currently showing the incoming Asanawa Clan frigates. Lora's report had been unnecessarilly formal as far as Marcus' was concerned, but what little protocol there was on the Fortuna dictated that the crew act disciplined when commanders of other ships were able to hear or see what was going on. Out of one ear, Marcus heard Kyrrick give a weary sigh and draw himself up to stand more smartly at his console. The banker turned his attention to the communication viewscreen, and listened while Fluffie posed his question.

"Ah, yes," He replied steadily, "we can safely assume these things are unfriendly. Coms," He turned to look at Lora again, "forward that message we recieved from one of the ships to the Alpaca Horde."

"Aye sir." Replied the girl, keying in the relevant commands. Marcus continued speaking to Fluffie as they waited for the recording to get to the other ship.

"As you can see, their intention doesn't appear to be peaceful. And I think we can safely assume they're quite dangerous since-" Marcus' command chair toned in over the sound of his voice, glancing down at the right armrest of his seat, Marcus saw that the button for communication with the Marine Headquarters in his hold had lit up. "Excuse me for a second, Lieutenant Commander Solo, but this communication currently pending may reveal more about our sinister foes. Lora, put the man on hold for a few minutes."

"Yes sir." She acknowledged. The Fortuna spent some of its time as a business ship, so the communications system had unusual nuances such as "hold music" programmed into it. Marcus couldn't remember off-hand what the latest tune was, but since they'd just come from Ankaa it was probably the Kiperial March - merchants from the Kipire tended to enjoy hearing it for obvious reasons. With Lieutenant Commander Solo suitably holding, Marcus pressed the button on the armrest of the command chair. Iyoda's voice came across over the speakers almost instantly.

"Sir," He began, his voice now the picture of emotionless composure. Marcus vaguely remembered hearing at some point that to show emotion publicy was considered dishonourable for samurai. Or, at least, publicly among fellow members of the Asanawa culture. "I did not recognise the creatures at first, but the more I think of it, the more they resemble the vampires that the usurper Kou Chou used to fill the ranks of his infamous Purple Guard. They are creatures of darkness that use the living - humans particularly - for nourishment. I am afraid that I can tell you little more than that, sir. According to legend, it was the honour of the ancient samurai and their leader, Shogun No Dachi, that shielded them from the creatures' evil and the light of their cause that destroyed them. Evidently honour was no physical shield here. If indeed they are creatures manifest of darkness, then light should still be a weapon to use against them." Marcus head a derisive snort from Aernus' direction.

"Evil and darkness are falsehoods conjured by our minds," Said the Science Officer, looking disbelieving, "and nothing more. I would not put any faith in these lessons of old legends, Marcus. It's distinctly un-scientific."

"There's more to the universe than your numbers and your sums, boy." Retorted the old samurai over the command chair's radio - he had obviously heard. "I remember many men who learned that the hard way. I have taken the liberty of giving torches to the Marines, sir. If indeed the stories of old are true, then perhaps those will aid us in our fight against these creatures. I will await your orders." And, with that, the line went silent, leaving Marcus to consider what he'd just heard. He turned to Aernus.

"Aernus, is there any scientific basis at all that would explain creatures with such properties?" He asked the ship's Science Officer. Aernus laughed, but, on seeing Marcus' perfectly serious expression, reluctantly began to consider the options.

"Well..." He began, running over old textbooks in his mind, "if they were made of anti-energy, it's quite possible that they could feed on the positive energy found in most other living creatures. And that would also make them averse to light. But I still don't think-"

"Thank you, Aernus. Deep scan the area around us. Those creatures had to come from somewhere." Replied Marcus, already turning back to Lora. "Lora, bring Lieutenant Commander Solo back online." Both officers wordlessly went about their tasks, and, a second later, Fluffie's face was back on the communications screen.

"Ah, Lieutenant Commander Solo, thank you for waiting," Said the banker, running over the two perspectives on these creatures that he'd just heard. "It would appear that those are creatures made of...anti-energy?" He turned, raising an eyebrow toward Aernus, who nodded silently as a sign that the other, not-so-scientifically-inclined man had got the term correct. "Yes, anti-energy, that feed on more normal life forms such as ourselves for nourishment. We humans are apparently the tastiest treats of all. I am reliably informed that light is their primary weakness an-"

"Sir," Said Aernus, cutting across the explanation, "you will have to excuse me for interrupting, but I have detected a gigantic unidentified vessel 20 light years away from our current position. It is 26 kilometres in length and currently at rest; as far as I can tell it is currently inactive. I reccomend that we send a probe."

"We don't have any probes, Aernus," Replied the banker, turning to the ship's Science Officer momentarily before turning back to Fluffie on the viewscreen. "Unless the Alpaca Horde carries any, that is?" This last question was directed at the other commander. Marcus waited expectantly, examining the Fortuna's new friend as he did so. The man didn't look as happy and carefree as he had earlier, in the coffee bar. He looked as though something unpleasant had happened...best to avoid it for now.

Speshul Notes

SO on board ND's ship

Sir if we illuminate all our corridors with low level Infra red light I think that the warith will be at a disadvantage if they board

MC

I can equip our men with Infra Red lasers then sir

TO -

Sir Fluffsolo has a phaser 9 it should have the capability of using Infra Red in the blasts - it may overlaod his weapon but it should do more damage
