Five Years Time
The Pyramid thread reminded me of a question I've been asked a couple of times in interview scenarios and I never know how to answer. Two reasons being, I don't know what they want me to say and I genuinely have no idea where I want to be, having no idea what is actually realistic for such a time-frame. So here I put the question to you:
Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Re: Five Years Time
That's kind of a questionmark for me, I could be living in the same city but moved out with my own place and a steady girlfriend. I could just aswell still be living with my parents masturbating to porn with the occasional "fling". I could be living in another city doing another job. I could be living in another country working for an international company.
I honestly have no idea what's going to happen, it depends of how my immediate environment will change actually.

Re: Five Years Time
Locationally, I don't care too much as long as it's pleasant enough. But in FYT I merely want to be better at the things I enjoy doing and want to start doing. I'd obviously lie in an interview though and implicitly refer a place in their hierarchy enjoying whatever they do there.

Re: Five Years Time
Really? No idea.
If asked in an interview I'd say something along the lines of "managing my own contract/team and perhaps studying for a professional qualification"
If pressed about what kind of thing I'd say "well, I'd build on my experiences that I've had so far in the company, I'm not entirely sure what area I'd like to go into but the company is growing at such a rate that there will be a vast amount of opportunities available for whatever I want to go into."
They're basically seeing how ambitious/realistic you are and the question gives you the opportunity to outline what field you want to go into and whether you want to do further study.

Yeah, this. ASG you need to bear in mind that most corporate graduate-scheme job interviews are essentially just a test to find out how well you can lie, so asking people for their honest answers in an attempt to help your interview skills doesnt make much sense.

Re: Five Years Time
In 5 years time, I will probably be married and have a baby, or have a baby on the way. That is unless I experience some emotional upheavel then I'll probably be a single drunk reeling from the shock of being alone.
I'll have been in my job for about 3 years, and will have hopefully advanced in the ranks and will be earning a good wage based on what I started out on.
I'll also have a 50" orgasm of a TV
Although I wouldn't say that in an interview, I'd say something alone the lines of I hope to have improved personally based on my time in the company and will have made millions for the company, and bought them a 50" orgasm of a tv

Re: Five Years Time
It is a question to test ambition.
too many intelligent fools analyse the answer and not the question.

Re: Five Years Time
I'll be employed as a some sort of clerk, still involved in politics and having a serious relationship going on with the prospect of a child coming really close.
It's actually quite scary!

Re: Five Years Time
Remember that your response depends on the job you're going for as well.
If you're applying for a soul-destroying battery farm Phone Tech Support role, saying that..
"In five years time I want to be running my own company, growing fat off the proceeds of employing a multitude of overworked plebs doing soul-destroying battery farm in Phone Tech Support"
then you may not be first in the queue for getting the job.
