Villas Badge
It is going to be gash.
There is a redesign of it.
The new design is released at 9am today. I have a bad feeling about this. I love the board, I love O'Neill, but by eck I have a feelin they are going to yank this shit up and forget that villa is an english club with history.
First Mistake in my opinion is putting a star on the badge to represent the EC, maybe for one season as it is 25th year anniversary etc. But no longer, utd, forest and liverpool don't do it.
Secondly I have a feeling it will be AVFC instead of Aston Villa. This is a stickler for me.
I always see Aston Villa as the beautiful name, in the beautiful game. It's unique and should be shouted out loud and proud. I don't want it to be some american acronym
"AND EPL SIDE AVFC HAVE JUST WON THEIR THIRD SOCCER MATCH IN FIVE."
Finally I have heard a rumour the badge is mainly blue, not claret. It should be 50/50 imo, or at least Claret should be prominent.
We are Claret & Blue not Blue.
Anyway I will be asleep when it's announced.
Bloody rebranding.

Re: Villas Badge
don't blame others for the stupidity of the fans
Quote:
The club have announced a new Club crest will be unveiled later this month after a survey of 4500 fans were consulted. Within the survey 76% of fans voted for a change.
Doesn't look like it will be a round one though, which to be fair I thought would be an absolute shoe in vote wise, as 51% voted to retain the shield. Bloody democracy! ;-)
80% asked for a star to be included IN the badge as the club aren't allowed to put a star to show we are European Cup winners above it.
63% said there should be a motto alongside the crest, hopefully the motto remains Prepared.
Other results announced on the official site were: Lion - Gold together 43%, Background Colour - Sky Blue 42%, Wording - AVFC 38%
Would have been nice to see the total breakdown results for all the options.

It's about as pleasant on the eye as everything else at Villa.

Re: Villas Badge
it looks nice i think. the star for winning a trophy back then and then is a bit gay, but apart from that it's nice, chique.
i do understand your feelings though; i also had mixed feeling when Twente replaced the old design for a new one, but i got used to it quite quickly i have to say.

Except it's in reverse. the first badge is shit and looks like (and probably was) drawn by an ametuer fan at the turn of the century. the new one has layers and texture and life!
Villias new badge has nothing to offer except for the fact that it is a shining beacon to 21st century ideals of mediocrity!

Re: Villas Badge
It's like Arsenal changing their badge.
Only because they want to copyright it and they couldn't do it fully with the old badge.... allegedly.

While that may have been funny if I'd meant that, I didn't
Totally forgot what my avatar was, just the remains of the 6 nations.

It's terrible, but funny because it's everything pig was hoping it wouldn't be.
The new Arsenal badge is no better, though.
