I guess Ferguson > Le Guen .... in my opinion it's a shame to see players have that much influence.

I think its got more to do with rangers doing absolutely shite at the moment, rather then a little feud with barry - as jakiri pointed out

Only if you know he is, I bet that at least 80% of English football fans wouldn't have heard of him. dda's pretty unlikely to know who he is!
To help out the Americans here, it'd be like Tony Dungy, head coach of the Colts, dropping Peyton Manning.

Re: Paul Le Guen
If I'd called the thread 'Oh Le No' it would have been an ambiguous thread title. As it is, it was fairly obviously about Paul Le Guen; if people knew who that was, the thread was for them! If not, its a good thing we have mouseovers and people don't read threads specifically to complain that they arent interested in those threads.

My apologies on that one, I thought the mouseover usually displayed BBcode (and thus the URL).
Even so though. I'm fairly sure when we encouraged [football] it was about thread titles that could be anything. This didn't have a [literature] tag or a [law] tag, did it?

Re: Paul Le Guen [football]
See, as much as i love seeing the huns in strife, when a manager leaves it usually means an upsurge in form
Le guen couldnt hack scottish football, he didnt have a plan, his man management was awful, and his signings were flops. He'll be managing someone in england fairly soon because his resume at Lyon was impressive, we've only learnt two things here.
1. Barry Ferguson appears to be bigger than Rangers.
2. Dont underestimate Scottish football.

Deffeh said he had an impressive record, not that he was any good.

Re: Paul Le Guen [football]
Lyon's domestic and champions league form could hardly be called 'lucky' given their consistent success. He laid the foundations for Lyon being a near-permanent top-tier champions league outfit. Outside Italy, Spain, and England, thats quite an achievement. (Germany's a bit of a sleeping giant).

Re: Paul Le Guen [football]
There are good French managers who should never be let outside of France like Santini and Perrin (now in a champions league spot with Sochaux, who are hardly the biggest of french clubs) and I guess Le Guen just joined them.
Yes I said Perrin was a good manager deal with it.

You're asking a poster with 15 posts to follow archaic forum rules? Way to go.

Nope.
But given the proliferation of football threads with disingenious titles, it became a welcome practice to simply tag [football]. It's not difficult!

Re: Paul Le Guen
It isn't! But nor, in this case, was it neccesary!
So I don't really see why the argument occured!

Re: Paul Le Guen [football]
I don't like Le Guens picture on FM2007, plus he always seemed to get high profile jobs.
That saying seems bizarre to sake him, managers dont get long enough in charge these days, people think that things can change overnight, thats simply untrue. One good thing about villa was, that although we got through our manager the rate was close to one every three years. By that time the manager has put his stamp on the team. If its a shit stamp hes off.

I think you're over-estimating the popularity of Scottish football.

Re: Paul Le Guen [football]
It's a shame there's no easy way to quote an entire thread in the hope that people will read it if it's in italics.
