Re: The Revenant Project

This week is finals week for me. Therefore, I will be spending a majority of my time dealing with the hideous beasts known as final exams, instead of on here DMing. However, once finals are complete, I will have plenty of spare time, and can once again devote time to DMing this thread. (I might be able to squeeze in one DMing this week, but don't count on it )

Re: The Revenant Project

mrmao

Seeing the intent focus that the Secessionists were giving to the nearby drop pod, you figure that you should be able to sneak up behind them and get the drop on them. Assuming this was a normal sized patrol, however, you would be outnumbered 4 or 5:1. Therefore, it would be best to thin out that numbers a bit, and so you switch up to your close-combat knife as you sneak in closer to the Secessionist patrol. As you close in, you pick up the following transmission: "To all available units. This is tango niner three sixer niner two zero requesting immediate assistance. My pod has crashed into a wooded area co-ordinates... four five six six by eight eight one six three... I've been pinned down by enemy forces and are unable to evacuate my pod. Number of enemy unknown, possible patrol. Repeat, this is tango niner three sixer niner two zero requesting immediate assistance..."

Seeing one Secessionist soldier crouching behind a tree, you slowly stealth up behind him. Then, when you're close enough, you lunge forward, wrapping your free hand around his mouth, while jamming the point of your knife into the side of his neck. Dragging the knife across the man's throat, you quickly and efficiently sentence him to death, as he begin to bleed out. Before you can move on to your next victim, however, you watch in horror as two metal spheroids are lobbed out of the mouth of the drop pod.

"Grenade!!" Someone yells, a moment before both spheroids explode, shredding the nearby vegetation and people with shrapnel. You are far enough back not to be injured by the explosions, but you can hear someone else screaming several meters away. That was not all, however, as you hear a cry of "More Feds!!!" off to your left. Turning that way, you see a very-much alive Secessionist glaring at you, and bringing his SMG to bear . . .

Hewitt

Lying in your horizontal drop pod, you send out your communiqué, not certain that anyone else got your transmission. Nonetheless, help was probably a few minutes away, and the Secessionists would have finished you off long before that if you didn't do something. Thinking quickly, you produce a pair of grenades from your utility belt, arm them, and then chuck them out the drop pod in the direction that the Secessionist gunfire last came from. You are awarded seconds later with loud screams following the dual explosions, hopefully coming from at least one of those d*mn traitors. However, over the screams, and continuing gunfire, you hear someone shout, "More Feds!!!". Evidently, help had already arrived outside . . .

Darkling

/ooc The Mines bury or attach themselves to whatever surface you push them against. ooc/

Upon hearing the voices, you slowly get down onto your hands and knees, and then begin to crawl forward until you reach the top of the nearby hill. Fortunately, your bad luck holds off this time, and you manage not to snap any twigs, or make any other loud noises that would give your position away. Peeking over the ridge, you can see the Secessionist patrol, grouped into a loose diamond formation, standing around on a small dirt road about 50m from your current position. They do not seem to be talking about anything in particular, but rather are making small-talk, grumbling about poor pay and equally poor food, mostly. However, the evident patrol leader waves them silent, and then presses one hand to the side of his helmet, as if struggling to hear a transmission. Finally, he lowers his hand, and barks out, "Alright men, several other patrols have encountered stiff resistance from the landed Federalists. Command, has, however, pin-pointed the location where they believe the largest concentration of the enemy is. Lieutenant Edwards is already leading his squad to the area. We are to move out immediately, and join the battle as soon as we can. Let's move, double time!!" The patrol of four soldiers then hustles away, running down the road at high speed. However, it seems likely that they will get to the scene of the battle, and from the sounds of it, will reach your unit before you do . . . which could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on who wins.

flapjack

Your suit radio suddenly crackles to life as Sergeant Incom speaks again. “Alright men, it appears that the enemy has spotted us, and is making their move. We’ve got a Secessionist APC or two moving in our general direction, according to reports from our forward scouts. Several people have reported taking fire already. Now, the Captain wants us to move up and support: support, you guys do your general medical/explosive thing. Heavy, you do what you do best: blow sh*t up. Let’s move!!”

Mad Cat

You examine several maps of the area, and determine that while stands of trees dot the landscape, around the missile base most of those stands have been cleared. While this might make for an excellent killing field, should the enemy decide to charge headlong at the facility, it would also make for a sniper’s paradise, as they could sit up on a ridge several miles away and pick off your men, one by one. So, the best defense would probably be to station at least some of your men in the stands of trees surrounding your base from a distance, so you would at least be able to have warning of when the Federalists arrive. You give the order, and several APCs leave the base to follow your orders: at least, all but one. This one APC, commanded by Lieutenant “ASME”, disobeys your orders, and goes racing off to engage the Federalists head-to-head. You contact the lieutenant, and have your discussion with him, and ultimately decide to let him go. And now, the only thing you can do is wait, and pray. But first, you call in the chief technician for the base, and ask him if the missiles could be used against the Federalists. The man snorts at your question, and almost laughs, before catching himself and stifling it. “No sir, unless you want to blow holes in the other continent. All of the missiles here are surface-to-orbit ICBMs: at best, we might be able to launch one all the way up, and have it come crashing back down, but it sure wouldn’t be accurate.”

ASME

You have your conversation with the captain, and manage to convince him to let you disobey his orders and engage the Federalists head-on. Several more minutes pass, and then the APC slows to a stop. “Want us to leave, sir, or stay and provide support?” the driver asks. The APC was somewhat armored, and equipped with a heavy machine gun, but it was a valuable asset, and it wouldn’t take more than a rocket or two to disable it. Meanwhile, your men charged down the now-lowered ramp, taking up covering positions near the rear of the APC, and prepare themselves to enter battle. Even through the APC’s armored hull, you can hear the sporadic gunfire coming from the nearby stand of trees: evidently one of your patrols was busy with some small group of Feds.

Crazyboy

The man nods as you give your name, and replies, “Well, this thing sure isn’t for show either, although it does weigh a ton . . . hopefully it’ll be put to good use soon. Here’s hoping there’s lots of Secessionists to shred and blow up.” As if to demonstrate, Jonan pulls the trigger on his mini-gun, and holds it down. In response, the mini-gun’s rotary barrel spun up, but did not fire, due to the safety still being on. Jonan let the mini-gun emit its signature high-pitched whine for a few seconds, and then released to trigger. A moment later, your radio crackles to life with the voice of Sergeant Incom.

No Dachi

Dropping to the ground and bringing your rifle up, you quickly scan the tree line with your sniper rifle. Through the dense foliage, you can see the soldier that fired on you: he was definitely wearing a Secessionist uniform. He also appeared to be currently fleeing deeper into the forest: no doubt having seen you and Sergeant Kihei’s sniper rifles, and wanting no part of it. A further examination of the treeline doesn’t reveal any more hostiles, although you can still hear sporadic gunfire coming from deeper into the forest.

Fluffie

You get permission from the Sergeant to move in, and from the looks of the trees in front of you, the dense foliage would definitely be your element, as opposed to the open fields that your two squadmates undoubtedly preferred.

Spritely Zombie

You give permission to the Master Corporal to move forward, and then scan the treeline through your scope. The Secessionist soldier that had fired on you, was, indeed, a Secessionist soldier, who was now rapidly fleeing deeper into the forest’s cover. In another few seconds, it seemed likely that you would no longer be able to see him from your current position. You certainly couldn’t see anyone else: despite still hearing the sporadic gunfire, you can’t make out any other shapes through the foliage. The infra-red overlay also provides little information, although you think that you can see a faint cluster of heat contacts deeper into the forest, and to your right.

PK

You have little trouble convincing the private, and the two of your race towards the trees at full speed, knowing that reaching those trees before the jeep does is probably your only hope. Out of the corner of your eye, you can see the jeep cresting the nearby hill, just as you reach the tree line. The jeep’s gunner opens fire, narrowly missing your head as you fling yourself headlong into the dense foliage, and shreds a small sapling. Although they know can’t see you, the crew of the jeep seems perfectly happy with keeping you pinned down, as the gunner rakes his machine gun fire back and forth across the forest. “What are we gonna do now, sir!!?” The private shouts over the roar of the machine gun, tearing nearby vegetation apart. Suddenly, there is silence as the machine gun’s ammo box runs dry, and no doubt with a fair bit of swearing, the jeep’s gunner has to replace it. This gives you perhaps a minute or so of respite, as the jeep’s gunner will undoubtedly replace the ammo box, and then begin firing again.

Io

You are standing around, waiting for new orders to be issued by Sergeant Incom, who obliges you a moment later, as your radio crackles to life.

Listening to the covnersation being as still and quiet, the complaints about bad food and poor pay sounded all to familair. When he was part of the Secessionist army himself its what most of the soldiers had a grievance with. Waiting for them to get mostly out of sught as they hurried their pace to join with battle, deciding it was best to not alert any more nearby troops of his psotion and kept radio silence.

Geting up and brushing the coverage of his pack lifts it with a struggling effort to put place it on his pack with a grunt, thinking to himself why they had to make these thigns so heavy all the time. Owain walking out into the open giving his pistol the one check over making sure to see if it was loaded, he had been caught out by that one before ages back almost got him killed.

Holstering the pistol begins the run across country keeping behind pace of the running patrol, to meet up his squad if they where still alive when he got there. His pace not made any easier by his pack, though he didnt consider himself unfit comapred to some of the soldiers there was a vast room for improvment.

Re: The Revenant Project

/OOC: Yes, this is the same character as in ND's thread. I happen to like her.
A question: Exactly how heavy is the heavy infantry? Like a mech or just some extra armour plates?

Name: Cali Roxborough
Rank: Corporal
Planet of Origin: Ross
Class: Heavy Infantry
Age: 24

Primary Weapon: Flamethrower
Secondar Weapon: SMG
Equipment: Extra Ammo (Primary), Extra Grenades

Desc: Cropped black hair, sinewy build, stringy muscles and pale skin. Small scar on right upper lip
and a similar one across the nose ridge.

History/Info: Cali grew up in a poor backwater area where her childhood was marked by sexual abuse and later trafficking. At 14 she became a child soldier and at 18 she was imprisoned. Her childhood has led to her developing several mental disorders such as mood swings (from smug and confident to silent or even aggressive), a hate-fear view on men and a sexual interest in young boys.
She was drafted shortly after she was relead from prison at the age of 21 and, with the help of proper medication, she has been able to function more or less satisfactory as a grunt in the Marines. People still find her to be odd.

"Now's our chance marine! Shoot straight and take out the driver."

*PK dived out of the tree line once more, aiming in the direction of the vehicle. The Chief didn't want to destroy it, as it would prove useful if it could be captured, so instead he aimed carefully at the gunner before loosing off a burst of rounds. He then turned to the driver, hopefully the private would have dealt with him, but you could never be too sure.*

Re: The Revenant Project

Dylan seeing the secessionist soldier raise his SMG, Dylan took a dive behind another tree. As he took cover behind the tree the secessionist let off a burst of fire. Unfortunatley Dylans leg was still partially out from behind the tree, the good part though it was just grazed by a bullet.

"AAAWWW F**K" Dylan yelled as pain shot through his leg. He pulled his leg back behind the tree as he unclipped the SMG from around his neck. As he looked at the graze off his leg. It didn't look serious but he wasn't a medic.

Dylan leaned out from behind the tree and let burst off at the secessionist as he moved to cover also.

"Ah at last. A bit of action. Remember lad, keep your head down. I don't want to be picking any brains off my uniform. I just had it cleaned."

Sharpe grinned at the new boy as he hurried off with the rest of the squad, heading in the direction the enemy APC's were coming from. He slung his SMG over his shoulder, and brought his rocket launcher round, and slid a nice HE rocket into it. Those scummy seccsionists were going to get a nice big surprise if they came within range.

Re: The Revenant Project

Anthony looks at the APC's driver, and thinks for a second, "No, i dont want you rught at the front line, you're a valuable asset and the Captain would most deffinatly have my head if i lost an APC to enemy fire. Though, I want a contingency plan, in case ... well just in case, hang back, and wait for either my orders to come and get us, or to come and get our remains." Not wanting to delay anylonger, Anthony quickly began walking down the decent ramp into the small cluster of his troops laying around covering all the major aspects of the terrain. One solider inparticular seemed to be taking an interest to the downward slope towards an open field and a large dense forest. Anthony walked over to the solider and droped down beside him.

"What you looking at Remus?" Anthony aked the solider, "Whatever it is, it seems to have caught your accute attention. Remus was as close to a friend as Anthony had, they had been through several intense situations together, they had learned to repect each others observations.

"Well Sir, it seems that their may be a large squad of Feds on the other side of that open field... though i'm not positive..." replied Remus. Anthony though for a moment then signaled for one of the other soliders to come and join them, "Johnson, get your binoculars out, tell me what you see on the other side of that field." said Anthony in a low voice, Johnson complied and got out his high zoom lenses and looked in the direction Anthony had pointed in.

It wasn't often you saw a seasoned vetran blanch, and Anthony hoped never to see that look on another of his mens faces again. Pulling the lenses form his face, Johnson said, Sir, you better take a look" and handed him the lenses. Anthony looked through them and looked in the direction he had signaled. He dint see much at first, then he heard, "Switch on the heat emision filter sir", Anthony did so and realised why the other man had blanched.

Just over 200 meters away were a large number of heat emissions, all of them moving towards their position it seemed one had stopped and was doing somethin to its gun, then it slung it around its shoulder and got out what had to be some kind of rocket launcher. Anthony disn't need to see anymore. He gave the lenses back to Johnson and then slowly got up.

"Squad!" Anthony shouted, his squad immediatly jumping up and coming to his side, he lifted his arm, clenched his fist, and pointed a finger. Straight at where the enemy was about to become visible. "FIRE!!" Anthony roared. His hand droping and lifting his mini-gun, the other flicking the saftey off and taking a good position so as not to be shot by mistake. He checked the gun one last time, looked up to see the first enemy appearing raised the gun and fired....
