[football] the big league 2005
the star trek titles just had to go...
anyway, league starts 01 Jan. I'll paste the scoring system in here when it's finalised.
All you need to know is that for your selected games, you should predict :
HALF TIME as either home/draw/away
FINAL SCORE
FIRST SCORER + TIME OF FIRST GOAL
There is no rigid format... just make sure it's understandable.
Everyone has two games to start, then there is a break till the 15th.
KO (ie the deadline for predicting) is 1500 unless stated otherwise

it should be possible to have two people predicting for the same team - it was working ok last time with Skiddy/Kura and Grimble/Rumad...
so pick any team other than ManU/Chelsea/Arsenal (how about random?) and I'll give you some fixtures to predict

naming scorer and time on 0-0 gives you another chance of getting points if the draw is wrong, but you get less points if it is 0-0 than you would if you hadn't named one.
I'd do it

I think that's fair.
Everton will be due a win, and midweek away in Liverpool sounds shite.

Start as we mean to go on, eh?
(And the title of the thread, while being good and startrekless is just too short...it was always easy to find due to it's length- any way to stick a few words on the end? )

Re: [football] the big league 2005
I don't understand:
a) Why I don't get any points for being 3 minutes within the time of the first goal, considering I predicted 9, and Francis scored on 12.
b) why i'm 'completely wrong' and the opposition isn't when we both predicted marginal home wins and away goals.

a) you're right, you should have won.... I'll edit it
b) if you hadn't got the time right, LHC would have won because, in an attempt to have less 0-0 draws, I would have given him a point for having the away goals right)

Re: [football] the big league 2005
SCORING
I put a little letter just above the result that shows what you got right.... (though H for halftime and A for 'almost right' clash with the H for home and A for away by the scores so they could change)
G = 1 point = generally right... final score accurate as far as home/draw/away
X = 3 points = exactly right... obviously the exact score
A = 2 points = almost right... now this is a messy one
it's awarded for either
correct home goals in a home win prediction
correct away goals in an away win prediction
any non-exact draw
correct goal difference
add to that H for correct half-time, S for scorer, T for time (+-3 minutes) and that's basically it.
The "completely wrong bonus" : only in matches where both players have equal points and neither got points for the final score, 1 point will be awarded for having a partially correct score.
There may or may not be a further bonus for getting both scorer+time or maybe exact time. I've put the decision off till it happens.
Bear in mind that unlike the other leagues, I check this one "in my head" and do make mistakes (especially when I've just changed the rules) so it's wise to check your own and shout at me if you think I've got something wrong

Please don't recheck games that I've won in future.

Re: [football] the big league 2005
[Norwich] SYMM v Inferno [Liverpool]
as Inferno hasn't predicted (again) and Lawrenson doesn't seem to have predicted today's results, SYMM will be judged against the backup Football Focus prediction of Norwich 1 - 3 Liverpool.
EDIT which I just noticed is exactly the same as SYMM's prediction, so as the FF one doesn't have a HT it means an easy win for SYMM. In future I think we should have a half-time prediction for the stand-in based on the final score.

Re: [football] the big league 2005
dunno, haven't checked yet - I was just assuming you had . Basically all I was getting at was that predicting against just a final score may be too easy... then again it's not your fault your opponent didn't show
