Even if BM win 3-1 in the next leg it'll have hardly been that much of a crushing victory (over the two legs), will it?

Re: {football} champions league prediction thing
there was no way (most Gs, correct goals, goal difference etc) to separate the two of you
we could use your predictions for tonight's uefa games as a decider, or knock one of you out after the first game/leg of the champions league semi's instead.
Whoever posts first (stew or roadrunner that is) decides

Re: {football} champions league prediction thing
I propose a kind of penalty shootout.
Both of them predict the UEFA cup games.
Then the person who has the most correct goals for/against (eg, p1 predicts 2-1, p2 predicts 1-2, if the score is 2-3 then p1 gets a point and p2 doesn) goes through.
It's nice and random!

Re: {football} champions league prediction thing
whichever way you wish, HOWEVER, i will NOT be able to get online after 5pm tonight, so no cheating and making it so that i have to change my predictions or predict again for tonights games or anything
if you do decide to do anything involving tonights games, i must therefore ask that it goes off my current predictions if thats ok?

Re: {football} champions league prediction thing
you do still have the option to decide this in the next round instead...
that's basically all the choice was, between deciding tonight or on the next champions games, and neither of you expressed a preference when asked
ps. or option 3 - what MrL said

Re: {football} champions league prediction thing
I don't think it should be based on the next CL games. It's a bit unfair on Kura that he gets an opponent that (effectively) gets two sets of predictions and gets to keep the ones that score higher.

Re: {football} champions league prediction thing
the idea behind it was that it would be decided as quickly as possible, probably on the first match (and only using others in turn if it was still a draw.) That would minimise the disadvantage to Kura. There'll probably be an additional detail to predict in the next round anyway that'll only be called upon if a decider is needed.
I really don't mind what method we use as long as it's clearly defined before 19:30 tonight.

Re: {football} champions league prediction thing
I think that worked quite well.
It also had parallels to "real life", as before the PSV/Lyon game, there hadn't been a penalty shootout in the CL in the knockout stage.

Re: {football} champions league prediction thing
semi-finals (26/27 April)
mpr0733 v Apothos
Kurashima v roadrunner
IMPORTANT
This round, to help avoid ties with only 4 games, I'm introducing a joker. Most of you know what that is, but for anyone who doesn't, simply put [J] by one of your four predictions and you'll get double points if you score any for that game.
Also, I want H,D,A (home, draw or away) for the half-time scores, simply a basic prediction for what you think the score will be at that point. These will only count (1 point each) in the event of a tie.

The four contenders may prefer to PM their predictions at this 'crucial' stage.
Also, feel free to do them one or two at a time if you prefer... your hard luck if you forget.
Other predictors should put a [J] by one game but NOT predict the half-times.

Re: {football} champions league prediction thing
i just discovered that if PSV wins the champions league, rank #6 in the Dutch league will also give access to the Uefa-cup tournament. atm Twente is on rank 6, 1 point behind #5.
PSV to go full force on CL now, letting substitutes play the match vs Twente (the weekend between the semi finals), then win the final.
GO PSV GO!
(the same goes for AZ btw, if they win the Uefa-cup).
