August 22nd ?
Seen on the portal:
"August 22nd..................Planetarion X............Be there...............Or miss out................It's up to you................We just recommend it!"
is it the day when PaX starts or is it the public beta ?

They have quite some guts to announce something like that in bold red on the start site of Planetarion. What's makes them confident enough to think they would make a deadline for once?

at a guess...
We know there is a 2 week public beta planned, and since there are not 2 weeks left to fit that in before the 22nd, it has to be for that.
The real questions are:
How long between that date and tick-start?
and
How long between end of public beta and real game sign-ups and real game tickstart?

The signup will start on the 22nd, this is for the real game, not for any beta's. But just because the signups are open it doesn't mean the game has to start ticking 2 days later.

Generally they give 2 weeks between sign-up and tickstart for people who posted their payments to arrive at various payment centers--but I don't know if that's the case again this round.

I think the date 22nd wasnt very well thought-through, that simple. Nobody probably knows how they will do now as result of that.

The date was set by Jolt, again: Ticks will not start as soon as signup opens.

Public Beta details will be posted on www.planetarion.com as soon as they're known. No point setting a date only for something to come up between now and then to throw that off.
August 22nd is the scheduled signup date for Planetarion X : Genesis. The "2 week trial" as it's know is the first 2 weeks of that round, since you are not forced to pay for your account until that stage. After 2 weeks (or before that time is up if you wish) you can either pay for your account using one of the methods available (Currently VISA, MasterCard, Switch, Payment Centre), or your account will be frozen and locked.
Hope that all makes sense.
* Payment centres accept some or all of the following: Cash, Cheque, Postal Order, Bank Transfer ; and are located in the UK, Norway, Germany, The Netherlands, Australia and USA

It was Jolt who made the decision. As this is their first round in charge, they have yet to learn...

August 22 was set as the date for signup start.
Jolt wants at least 2 weeks signup time.
However, we are still lacking to see some of the servers configged with the new OS and setup we require, and we might miss the 22nd by a few days.
But setting the date had a psycological effect on us as well, keeping us working as hard as we can to meet the deadline.
The 22nd has nothign to do with public beta , or the 2 week trial.
Let me try to explain:
The public beta will run, on a differnt server-lot than the main game, and is in no way related to the 22nd. The public beta will run for as long, and as fast, as we think necessary.
The signups we hope will start 22nd, is for the real game, in which there is a 2 week period of time with ticks where people can try the new game before they decide to see wether they wish to pay for it or not.
Clearer?

It's always the way when the uninformed people at the top make the decisions.
Thanks for all the hard work, I'll try not to get too cynical.

Zeus' absence is more noticeable now than ever...without someone dedicated to making announcements and dealing with the community, confusion reigns

There is a distinct impression of understaffing. I do hope to see the appointment of someone in Zeus' role, for the sake of the game.

That's the confusing part :
- does it mean from 22nd august there will be a 2 week signup time during wich people can try the new game
- or does it mean from 22nd august there will be a 2 week sign up time followed by a 2 week trial time.

Jolt wants at least 2 weeks signup time.
Consider it this way.
My five cents here. It'll be longer than two weeks.

OMG
The plans are, that at the 22nd, people can start signing up for the real game, and have about 2 weeks to signup, and pay if they already decided to do that. When the game starts(the real game) Those who havent paid will have a universe separated from the ones that have paid, where they can play for up to 2 weeks, while deciding wether to pay and move to the paid part of the universe, or let the planet get deleted when the trial period is over, maybe to start over again just to have something too do(I understand it as if the trial thing will run constantly during the round, but one planet can stay there maximum for 2 weeks) The ones that decide to pay before the game starts, start in a universe exlusively for people who have paid, and which people from the free part are "upgraded" when they pay so that they can join the real and long lasting war.
The beta however, will be sometime between now and gamestart(hopefully ) and will also hopefulyl be announced by Spinner when the time comes. Its not hard to understand at all...
And yes, Zeus = missed :/
