Poll: The OverBurn issue
1) Leave OB attacks/defense in
2) Remove them both
3) Remove OB attacks, leave defense
4) Remove OB defense, leave attacks
5) Other (explain)
(excuse me if I missed an obvious option or otherwise "messed up" )

i didnt play rnd8 so i havnt really experienced the annoyance of checking for incoming every few ticks or my target getting late defence where in previous rnds my fleet wud have been through; however i feel that they shud either have them both or none of them. Including just 1 of the 2 wouldnt balance. To make the option feasible there should be 2 sides to the coin. Excluding the option would take away a tactical/strategic side of the game, for good or for bad, it is another attack/defence option.
In case u didnt get that mindless drivel...
"either have both options or neither"

What difference does it make Parra ? As I remember you wanted it to be over burn Defence 1 tick so it could only be used to counter over burn attacks ? Leaving over burn defence 1 tick still means that it can be used to counter regular attacks as the majority of people wont land if there is over whelming defence on the first tick.
2) Remove both over burn defence and attacks

You already have the def from cluster and parallel, aswell as from your alliance. How much def do u need???

Ofcourse, but it will make the game more balanced anyway.
And yes, removing both is maybe even better, but how the chances of that are next to none

i didnt play rnd 8 so havent had first hand experiance of the OB issue, but knowing what it does and having heard many ppls opinions i feel i am in a position to have a view.
with parallels AND clusters this round, surely everyone has enough opertunity for defense. adding OB defense to that means attacking is going to be nigh on impossible. as for OB attacking, doesnt this just breed scan planets? ppl need as much resources as possible to make lots of news scans for constant use.
lose OB altogether, on both counts. and preferably scrap parallels too. if no one wants to attack, whats the point in the game?

A little back-story.
Overburn is partially my fault, and amusingly since i've not played with it ever I cant post an opinion!
The thinking was ...
25 ppl per gal means someone will be watching gal news all the time, so 5 alliance players in an alliance gal will mean the other 20 will just sit there, attacking occasionally and growing 'roid fat (with ridiculous p ratios).
The original aim was simply Overburn being exactly the same as a normal attack* except it would cost 3x the eonium to launch and wouldnt show up on galaxy news. It lets you take out people in otherwise untouchable galaxies if they cant be arsed to be active.
Overburn defense is nothing to do with me at all.
* Round 1 there was no galaxy news. Total information is a large problem - if you know exactly whats going on (through gal news) there is very little room for strategy - The suggestion was hoping to bring that back.

I remember some of the discussions in beta about it Coffee, and your original idea, had it remained intact, would have been...better.
However, as with too many good ideas in beta, it was perverted into the mess we have today.

2....perhaps 3.
Attacks should go no doubt, it makes it even mkore impossible than before to maintain a life if you want to play this stupid game.
The def with stay 1 tick is a nice feature...just that it might be a tad b]to[/b] nice.
Screw OB completely.
