[E-Mail]90s Kid
I got sent this in an email, apologies to those who have it already!
YOU KNOW YOU'RE A BRITISH 90s KID IF...
YOU CAN SING THE RAP TO "THE FRESH PRINCE OF BELL AIR"
YOU'VE WORN LEGGINGS AND FELT COOL.
YOU USED TO LOVE PLAYING WITH YOUR "PUPPY IN MY POCKETS"
YOU REMEMBER WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY WORTH GETTING UP ON A SATURDAY MORNING TO WATCH LIVE & KICKING OR SM:TV.
YOU HAD A HUGE FRINGE AT SOME POINT IN YOUR CHILDHOOD.
YOU REMEMBER READING AND WATCHING "GOOSEBUMPS"
YOU TOOK PLASTIC CARTOON LUNCH BOXES TO SCHOOL.
YOU KNOW THE WORDS FROM THE SHAKEY JAKE MILKSHAKE ADVERTS
YOU REMEMBER THE CRAZE OF YO-YOS AND TAMAGOTCHI'S
YOU STILL GET THE URGE TO SAY "NOT" AFTER EVERY SENTENCE. NOT.
YOU KNEW THAT KIMBERLY, THE PINK RANGER, AND TOMMY, THE GREEN RANGER WERE MEANT TO BE.
YOU COLLECTED POKEMON CARDS.
YOU PLAYED AND/OR COLLECTED POGS.
YOU HAD A WEIRD ALIEN THAT LIVED IN GOOEY STUFF IN A PLASTIC 'POD' AND THOUGHT IF YOU STUCK 2 BACK TO BACK THEY WOULD HAVE A BABY!
YOU WATCHED THE ORIGINAL POSTMAN PAT, FIREMAN SAM AND NINJA TURTLES.
YIKES PENCILS WERE THE BEST!-WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM?
YOU REMEMBER WHEN THE NEW BEANIE BABIES WERE ALWAYS SOLD OUT
YOU GOT YOUR MUM TO BUY 'BN' BISCUITS
YOU USED TO WEAR THOSE STICK ON EARRINGS, NOT ONLY ON YOUR EARS BUT AT THE CORNERS OF YOUR EYES.
YOU KNOW THE MACERENA BY HEART.
"TALK TO THE HAND" ENOUGH SAID.
YOU REMEMBER THE TIME BEFORE LITERACY AND NUMERACY HOUR EXISTED.
YOU THOUGHT BRAIN FROM "PINKEY AND THE BRAIN" WOULD FINALLY TAKE OVER THE WORLD.
YOU REMEMBER BUM BAGS.
YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO BE ON FUN HOUSE
YOU COLLECTED TAZOS.
2 WORDS, SPICE GIRLS.
YOU WORE DISNEY PLASTIC RUCKSACKS- no wait people stil do.
some of those are obviously aimed at girls, but quite scarily I identify with a fair few.

Re: [E-Mail]90s Kid
Most student nights still play a shed-load of cheesy 90s stuff anyway. Not that I'm complaining. We'll probably have 90s clubs popping up in 5-10 years I think.

You were a rubbish kid,
Anyway, from the original list I can certainly identify with a fair few, although a few are after my time.
I remember the 'Fresh Prince' theme being played in a night club last year. I knew every word and the people I was with were vaguely disgusted / worried.

Did you really know enough about politics to be anti anything back then? except gays
in addition you were a cool 90s kid if
you watched saved by the bell early on sat mornings
you watched that weird graphic cartoon where its set inside someones body (early early sun morning)
you'd watch channel 4 late on the weekends incase their was any female nudity (kids really are spoiled by the internet, lo budda of suburbia)
you watched basic instinct and paused it at the leg spreading scene, then turned the colour and contrast up

Re: [E-Mail]90s Kid
When I wake up in the mornin',
And the 'larm gives out a warnin',
I don't think I'll ever make it on time,
By the time I grab my books,
And I give myself a look,
I'm at the corner just in time to see the bus fly by!
It's all right 'cuz I'm .......
If the teacher pops a test,
I know I'm in a mess,
And my dog ate all my homework last night,
Ridin' low in my chair,
She won't know that I'm there,
If I can hand it in tomorrow, it'll be all right!
It's all right 'cuz I'm ..........
Fill in the blanks to become an authentic 90s guy.

Now this is a story all about how my life got twisted upside down and id like to take a minute just sitting right there and ill tell you how i became the prince of a town called bel-air
(doo doo doo dooo dooo...do do do doood oo)
IIIIIIIIIIIIIN west philadelphia born and raised,
on a playground is where ive spent most of my days,
chillin out maxin, relaxin all cool and shootin some b-ball outside of the school
when a couple of guys who were upto no good started makin trouble in my neighbourhood
got in one little fight and my mum got scared and said "you're moving with your aunty and uncle in bel-air'
I whilsted for a cab and when it came near the license plate said 'fresh' and had dice in the mirror...if anything i could say that this cab was rare but i thought now forget it..go home to bel air!
(more funkyness)
I pulled up to a house about seven or eight and i yelled to the cabby 'go home smell you later', looked at my kingdom i was finally there...to sit on my throne as the prince of bel air
dooo dooo doo dooood ooo
dooo do ood oood oooo
best show ever

Why does noone else remember the verse about his flight? It fit into the song just before the cab bit, if only I could remember how it went.

Re: [E-Mail]90s Kid
I begged and pleaded with her the other day
But she packed my suitcase and sent me on my way
She gave me a kissin’ and she gave me my ticket
I put my walkman on and said I might aswell kick it
First class, yo this is bad,
Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass
Is this what the people of bel-air livin’ like,
Hmm this might be alright!
(i believe it is 'forgotten' because it was added after series 3.. though i might be wrong)

Identify with way more than a few there, quite worrying really. But Kimberley and Tommy were so meant to be. Although was always a fan of jason (red ranger) and kimberly together.
Ooo and talking about 90's culture. Watched the Transformer's movie Monday night, fking brilliant.

I think it's the other way round : it was only shown in the early seasons. I remember catching the pilot and it was in that.
edit : Wiki confirms it. Although apparently it was on the first few episodes.

Re: [E-Mail]90s Kid
I remember most of that stuff!!!!
I used to get up to watch Live and Kicking, SMTV and later on Dick and Dom in Da Bungalow. Shame on me and my sad life.
I never did the Tamagotchi stuff, that fad was over in about 2 weeks, i just saw it all as a waste of time, money and effort. But all the other fads i did...Pokemon cards...pogs...tazo's...them wierd alien things....
Ah memories, pos rep for you pig, youve made my day.

Really? I NEVER KNEW THAT DM.
You're going to be one of those annoying fathers to your lovely daughter aren't you? she'll be more intelligent than you by age 5 and all you'll be left with is telling her 'multiplication is repeated addition, did you know that? did you?'

Re: [E-Mail]90s Kid
Apparently it's going to cost us around $200,000 to bring this child up.
I reckon I'll have earned the right to wear her down by embarassing her in front of her friends or telling her meaningless crap like that multiplication thing.
What's more, by age three she'll have had it drummed into her that bringing Daddy beer from the fridge is a surefire way into his good books and, quite possibly, the way to a higher plane of existence.
If I can't have a bit of fun with my $200,000, life just wouldn't be fair, would it?

Re: [E-Mail]90s Kid
I remember I used to make fliers for an antiracist organisation I was in, with PageMaker 5.0 at a 486sx 25MHz pc and a white/black scanner.
It was insanly slow.

Re: [E-Mail]90s Kid
I remember tapping BASIC programs into my ZX81 and after an hour or so, when I'd finished and it didn't work, talking to it pleasantly, saying that it was a 'useless ****ing piece of ****ing shit. Why don't you just go **** yourself, you shitty, SHITTY, SHITTY ****ing ****'
then working through and finding the syntax errors, correcting them and typing 'RUN' again in the vain hope it would work, to be confronted by another syntax error in a line I knew so well was absolutely perfect.
I'd have another conversation with the thing, something like 'what do you want me to do? I don;t understand, I typed it all in, it's all working, I just want it to work, can't you see that? WHy won;t you work? Why? I hate you, go **** yourself'
then switching the thing off and ripping the magazine/printout up and going and crying somewhere.
I swear the magazine printers got it wrong, just for shits and giggles. I'll probably die young because of them.
I do pretty much the same thing these days with PCs, just with less crying, more swearing and more violence, now I can afford to smash the uncooperative little f*cks.

Green Ranger was so never gonna give her any play... green ranger lived by his own rules man, and had no time for no pink girls, sure he might have led her on and maybe hit it once or twice, but then he was outta there, fo sho.
Meanwhile... how much is everyone just dying for this crap 80's revival to die a horrible death because the clothes and music weren't cool then, and aren't cool again.
I think however, while the 90's revival is iminent, its gunna be interesting to see how it goes. My pick is the return of Weezer-esque geek rock and all the dissillussioned teens will become fans of kurt cobain again and Starter clothing will have a massive revival. *clutches Starter hat* 'soon my precious, you will be ironic and i can wear you with no shame'
(i have been awake for like 24 hours when posting this so forgive any parts that make no sense)
